You don't; there's an option to remove the base entirely. You can use the arm and leg mods and grab a Head of Adam, and just not use a torso if you layer shirts over it (you're still going to be missing a neck), or use all three plus a torso.

Yeah, when that happens for me, I generally try to find email confirmation... emails... and see if they list a username or something.
