littl3chocobo 01-05-2017 10:17 PM

what would you offer to contributors to get them to give you the money?

Kaderin Triste 01-05-2017 10:38 PM

Hmmm...well donation rewards are not required, but I could offer a choice of chainmaille jewelry or loom knit stuffed dragon. Both would mostly fit the theme of what I want to raise funds for, which would be a loom knit scalemaille blanket. (Which should cost approximately between $400-$500 in supplies.)

Of course this is just a hypothetical never gonna happen situation because I don't like to ask people for money for anything.

littl3chocobo 01-05-2017 11:23 PM

ah, fair enough XD well, could you offer it as a buyable with the caveat that you will only charge the cost of materials if they accept they may get a subpar item?

Kaderin Triste 01-05-2017 11:45 PM

Honestly, the blanket is something experimental that I kind of just want to make for myself anyway. If it isn't too heavy, I might consider making them to sell, though, even just charging cost of supplies, I doubt anyone is going to pay $400-500 for a blanket.

littl3chocobo 01-05-2017 11:59 PM

if it was a quilt i would disagree but with chainmail you may have a point XD it'd certainly be too heavy to actually use and too difficult to keep clean unless it was kept put away which defeats the purpose of having it

Kaderin Triste 01-06-2017 12:28 AM

Oh, it really wouldn't be that difficult to keep clean. I mean the scales can be wiped clean and the backside is yarn. In theory, the blanket could be thrown in the wash on the gentle cycle. Though the weight in that situation might be an issue. But water wouldn't hurt the sxales.
And knitted scale mail is lighter than regular because the scales are less dense and are held together with yarn and not metal rings, so I don't really think it will be too heavy to use.

SparX 01-06-2017 02:12 AM

OH! I finished the painting ("")

I still have a strong desire to repaint this in either acrylic or watercolor, I feel like it would come out more realistic. At the same time I appreciate it looking original?
It feels super silky soft XD
2nd picture was before I sprayed a matte finish on it.

littl3chocobo 01-06-2017 06:26 PM

ah, i have never seen mailchain knitted together before so i have no idea how that works XD

congrats<3<3 i am a fan of poppies so it has my approval XD

my uhu came so i may have pics to share soon as well~

Kaderin Triste 01-06-2017 07:17 PM

Well, it works like this, Cho:

Very nice, Sparx!

littl3chocobo 01-06-2017 07:27 PM

oooooh, fair enough XD so it's treated like sequins not like chainmail

Kaderin Triste 01-06-2017 07:32 PM

Um...no? Maybe?
I have never worked with sequins, but I believe they're sewn on? But in knitted scalemaille, the scales are knitted into the item as you make it.

littl3chocobo 01-06-2017 07:36 PM

the way they are connected is like the way sequins are connected. the difference is knotting over braiding but the connective bits are the same XD

SparX 01-06-2017 09:20 PM

That looks so cool =O
And thanks guys! I still haven't heard if he gave it to his parents yet or not.
People aren't in my house today so I am feeling an artsy streak wanting to surface

littl3chocobo 01-07-2017 08:35 AM

you and me both XD i worked on one wall of the dollhouse i am building, it's just a plain wall but it has wallpaper on one side and the inside of the two windows is done

SparX 01-07-2017 12:07 PM

oooohhhh Making it comfy cozy? =3
Blah I work this weekend but at if I can at least REMEMBER the glorious ideas that pop in my head at work maybe they can come to fruition at home XD

Damies 01-07-2017 07:23 PM

AFTER THE DAY I HAD YESTERDAY I AM GONNA RELAX TODAY!

(I say as I have the urge to make lotion which can be really frustrating sometimes)

Kaderin Triste 01-07-2017 08:04 PM

I have been really bored...so I am going to start a couple things on my giant "things I want/need to make this year" list of craft stuff.

littl3chocobo 01-08-2017 12:52 AM

how does one even make lotion? XD

shooo, not sure cozy is a word i would use XD 'cramped' and 'blue' would be better words, hahahaha. i finished the inside windows as well and glued them onto the wall, i also wallpapered a second wall though i dont have enough to do the third wall so i dunno where i am going from here

Damies 01-08-2017 12:57 AM

I uh... I wanna get into binding my own books.... Errr.... nope not gonna add a new year new hobby I swear....

@Kaderin: YEAH GET THAT SHIT DONE!

@Chocobo: Mix oils, water and an emulsifier with a stick blender at 80-100 degrees pretty much. xD

littl3chocobo 01-08-2017 01:01 AM

so the same as a perfume only without the alcohol? fair enough XD i think i could get my head around that. what scents would you be making if you did make lotion today?

book-binding is a lousy hobby if you cannot make a straight line or have issues with gripping things X''D i gave it up years ago just because all my books looked funny, i did keep one though

Kaderin Triste 01-08-2017 01:05 AM

@Damies: Well...I uh...took a crafting break to put away Christmas decorations (which meant clearing out some of my closet too), and then did dishes...but I did the first cable section of a baby blanket and uh...that's about it for crafting. But I'm about to work on another bracelet.

Damies 01-08-2017 01:56 AM

@Chocobo: Probably a much higher percentage of oils than perfume. And I actually used aloe vera juice for the water portion. xD Scents? Like scent making? I haven't done that, all my scents I use in soap and lotion and such are premixed scents from the supplier I get other stuff through. If I didn't make lotion I'd probably have spent the day in bed drawing. xD

@Kaderin: Good reasons to delay your crafting though!

Kaderin Triste 01-08-2017 02:04 AM

This is true. And I have made almost half of another bracelet now.
I'd work more on the blanket, but I am too unfocused and messing up on that would mean starting over.

littl3chocobo 01-08-2017 02:08 AM

scents like the oils that make the smell X''D i use a prefab too but it is one i had made for me personally X''D

SparX 01-08-2017 02:14 AM

I don't know what to create next ?.?
I have so many ideas, but nothing actually pops out to DO.

Damies 01-08-2017 04:38 AM

I'm binding a 10 page coloring book tonight. 8D

Uh you should... uh... dance?

littl3chocobo 01-08-2017 09:00 AM

you should make a scrap-fabric doll?

also, what do you guys think so far?
http://sta.sh/2hbwvi2hyv3?edit=1

SparX 01-08-2017 12:30 PM

I think that looks super cool =O

I would need to find my gloves for the fabric doll, because my specialty is making donkeys out of gloves XD
Goodness I have most of this day to do something.

Damies 01-08-2017 05:18 PM

That looks really awesome Chocobo!

And Sparx, I want a picture of a glove donkey to ogle! o Ao

SparX 01-08-2017 05:25 PM

Okies!

Damies 01-08-2017 05:44 PM

Not what I was expecting, but super cute! Those are awesome!

SparX 01-08-2017 05:54 PM

Yeah I found a thing on pintrest for sewing teddy bears out of gloves....
I went wrong somewhere BUT liked the end result. I tried to pass them off as bunnies at first but it's still really just a donkey in my eyes XD

https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...8a8e5ac0d8.jpg
That is the basic idea but for a squirrel/chipmunk XD

Damies 01-08-2017 09:50 PM

That is really neat! :O

And we are probably gonna be snowed in tomorrow morning.

littl3chocobo 01-08-2017 10:23 PM

they stopped selling the scrapbook with that paper pattern though, not sure what i am going to do for the third wall or the upper half of the second floor

the donkeys are cute~

SparX 01-08-2017 10:50 PM

Thank you =3
Once I get my etsy back under my control I plan on making a few to put up for sale.

Damies 01-09-2017 02:17 AM

I made a honey face wash tonight. It seems to be pretty good!

SparX 01-09-2017 11:30 AM

Honey face wash....
hmmmmm....
not sticky?

Kaderin Triste 01-09-2017 02:25 PM

I would imagine that the honey is diluted enough that it wouldn't be...but I'm actually really curious about that, myself.

And thanks for sharing that glove animal tutorial, Sparx! I might have to pick up some cheap gloves and try making one...

Damies 01-11-2017 10:32 PM

Because of the amount of castile soap in the honey face wash it is not sticky! It does tend to separate though. My mom tried it and liked it and I am going to try it tonight, I haven't yet due to stressful days here but yeah. xD

Kaderin Triste 01-11-2017 10:36 PM

I was curious...let me know how good (or bad) you think it is!
