Lunaryon 07-21-2012 07:50 PM

And I just realized that before too long we'll have to deal with the Valeyard again. That's going to be fun.

femme gauche 07-21-2012 07:51 PM

Sorry... deal with what? x_o.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 07:56 PM

During the 4th Doctor I think it was, he was arrested and judged by the Time Lords for the Valeyard, an evil version of him who came into being between his 12th and 13th incarnations.
Sorta like the creepy dreamlord from the episode "Amy's Choice"

femme gauche 07-21-2012 07:58 PM

Ah, I see. I have a harder time finding the old Doctors, I tried watching an ep or two but it's confusing how the series was organized so I don't know how to watch in order. It wasn't Tom Baker though, it was... another older looking guy.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 08:01 PM

Then it was one of the first three Doctors. Each Doctor has been younger and younger. But I only came across that when diving around in the TARDIS Index Files, which is a DW wiki.

This is unrelated, but what do you think of my new siggy?

femme gauche 07-21-2012 08:03 PM

It wasn't really unrelated, I kept thinking about commenting after I realized I had missed your original mention of it XD. Yeah, it's perfect. Same effect as the previous, but... different season.

Yeah, I thought something like that. It was the earliest Doctor Who I could find on Netflix... it was three or four episodes, 20 minutes each, in one little mini-series format on Netflix... like a unit.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 08:05 PM

I've thought about watching those, but I can't figure out the order of them... which makes me a little leery about watching them.

femme gauche 07-21-2012 08:08 PM

Yeah, hence my frustration. I've thought about buying the DVDs at the store, but i don't know to buy a whole collection or what... AHH OLD TELEVISION SHOW. WHY MUST YOU BE SO OLLLLD?!

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 08:09 PM

I've tried using the wikipedia page to try and help, but there are so many on there, and so few in Netflix...

femme gauche 07-21-2012 08:13 PM

Yeah, exactly. It's like totally random why they're on there. I get the feeling that most of them could stand mostly on their own, though. But... for now, until it's cleared up, I can live with 11 and beyond. Or, 9 and beyond, really.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 08:18 PM

Though out of the ones on there, I'm most interested in those that have multiple variations of the Doctor meeting each other.

femme gauche 07-21-2012 08:19 PM

That does sound interesting. I happened to just watch right now "The Next Doctor"... which I think was a Christmas special, but it's just in order in the seasons... well I watched half of it right now. But I've seen it before. You *think* it is the next Doctor, but it really isn't...

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 08:21 PM

It's my sonic screwdriver!
Why's it sonic?
*hits against wood twice* See? Sonic!

femme gauche 07-21-2012 08:22 PM

Yeah. Some of Ten's faces in that episode... he is a great Doctor, but I don't hate Matt Smith like some people do. For all his youth, he strikes me as unimaginably old.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 08:25 PM

Plus he does some of the craziest things.
But most of my problems with the 11th Doctor has less to do with the Doctor, and more to do with some of the things that happen in the episodes.
Like when they meet up with River and the Church and had to fight against the Weeping Angels.

femme gauche 07-21-2012 08:31 PM

Yeah, that whole thing, while fascinating, was a bit tiresome... and I mean, the whole plot is great, interesting, humorous, all that, but sometimes it gets to be a bit much, like, just resolve this already and give us the Doctor in all his madness.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 08:36 PM

Yeah. My biggest problem was that they had the Weeping Angels move onscreen. I wanna yell at the writers of that episode for that alone. It completely ruins the frightningness of them. If they freeze even when the audience can see them... then even we cannot blink.

femme gauche 07-21-2012 08:38 PM

Yeah, but it set up for the terror in Amy's mind. I mean, it's all relative, and some of the reality gets broken or distorted from time to time... Me, I liked The Doctor's Wife, so I went and read a book by Neil Gaiman... called American Gods.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 08:44 PM

How did you get from one to the other?

I wear Fezs nao. Fezs are cool.

femme gauche 07-21-2012 08:46 PM

Neil Gaiman wrote the episode "The Doctor's Wife", in which the spirit of the TARDIS entered the body of a woman called Idris.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 09:29 PM

I didn't know that.
But Neil was already in my top 3 authors anyways. Haven't read American Gods yet, but it's one of the few things of his I haven't read.

femme gauche 07-21-2012 09:30 PM

It's the only thing of his I have read because once I got my Kobo reader, a whole queue of books I want to read suddenly opened up, and I've been trying to keep up. Presently I've been reading a paper-and-ink book I received as a birthday gift. However, once I finish this I may just read some more of Gaiman's writing.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 09:33 PM

You should search for The Sandman It's among Gaiman's best works. It's a graphic novel about the personification of Dream. It's very strange, but very good.
Another would be Neverwhere, which involves a magical underworld of sorts in london.

femme gauche 07-21-2012 09:35 PM

Yes, in looking up his name I have discovered what all he has created. I think he likes personifying ideas and thoughts... the same concept is present in American Gods. Which is very strange but, I think, not all that strange relative to his other works, from what I gather.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 09:37 PM

I think people would freak out more if he wrote a simple romance. They'd probably spend hours pouring over every word to try and find some secret meaning that would make everything crazy.

femme gauche 07-21-2012 09:41 PM

Now that, I would find fascinating. I kind of do that with Billie Joe's lyrics... He never writes anything so strange as that, but some of the simplest things that he says, and especially, writes, can be taken on such a variety of levels it has the potential to drive a person a little nuts. And I get a little overly analytical anyway. But at the same time, when I read something, or hear a song, I first take it at face value and it often takes someone else for me to see the greater interpretation that can be had...

Right now, I am crocheting. I don't know what the thing that I'm working on will ultimately become; at this point, I'm quite set on the idea of a blanket, if the yarn lasts long enough to complete one... but no set design in mind, only vague ideas... I suck at planning!

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 09:48 PM

You should make a shirt, that ends in a sock!

femme gauche 07-21-2012 09:50 PM

Really helpful, that. :P. I don't think that this would do any good as a shirt *or* a sock. It's got all these holes, you see...

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 10:02 PM

Just make it really big, and make the sleeve really long and make it a sitting hammock thing!

femme gauche 07-21-2012 10:12 PM

Now I have no idea what you are talking about XD.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 10:19 PM

Neither do I!!!

femme gauche 07-21-2012 10:20 PM

Well, at least we're on the same page, then. For a few more posts, anyway. What is that red and black thing in your signature?

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 10:22 PM

It's my Signet as one of the Seven Sins. As my badly colored word says, I am the Imbodiment of GREED

Angel Spirit Girl 07-21-2012 10:23 PM

I spent a long time at the craft store getting supplies to make stuff for a mask and headwings to wear to a convention next weekend. I want to take a pic of me as my solia character.

Espy 07-21-2012 10:25 PM

-flops into thread-

....I've had enough of crafts x__X; I made a gift for my friend and stabbed myself multiple times with the needle. -is not good at sewing-

femme gauche 07-21-2012 10:28 PM

Crafts is basically everything I do in my spare time.

Angel, that's cool. It can be fun and a little overwhelming trying to find something to fit a certain image like that.

Luna, ohhhh. That's cool. I don't roleplay.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 10:31 PM

I'm not really sure it is part of a roleplay. It's more like I act as a sub-mod for the thread it goes with...

femme gauche 07-21-2012 10:33 PM

I... see. I don't know what that means. At any rate, I have to go now... trying to keep myself on a semi-sort-of-regular schedule when I work. G'night, all.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 10:40 PM

See ya! Hope you have a productive work day/night

Angel Spirit Girl 07-22-2012 09:42 PM

I am sort of fudging with cosplaying my solia character.

She is wearing a light blue t shirt and white shorts, and also has a panda skin on and solar leader wings - and a unicorn plush - to make it identifiably solian. I can get some summer event items by doing something to advertise, or cosplaying my avatar, and posting a pic of it.
