"Because I get to make a pretty little lady happy." Joey said with a grin. "You being happy is what make me happy. Which is why you're not going to have to worry about a thing."
Olivia laughed easily, feeling at ease with Saya. "Then one day I shall send my regards to Mr. Goat." She told him grinning. His comment about biting again brought her mind in a diffrent direction. 'Mind out of the gutter, Olive...' She thought to herself, blushing slightly. "Oh, is my blood not tasty enough to tempt you?" She asked him with a grin. |
"To be honest, I'm not exactly interested in blood. Period." Sayaku replied, shrugging it off, grinning. "Does that disappoint you? I could make an exception if you really wanted it but...I think it's best you just stay as you are, completely in tact." He grinned soon after saying this, ruffling the boy's hair mischievously.
His words had made her turn scarlet, her face turning away only for a moment as if to ease the boiling blood underneath her cheeks that caused the color. "You really are too much sometimes." She giggled, smiling at him again, some of the color fading, though most still right there. "But I think I like that part about you too." |
Olivia grinned and stuck out her tongue playfully at Saya. "Personally, I think my blood would taste awesome. Oh well, your loss." She said, patting his shoulder. Then she looked around her. "Uh Saya, I think we should get going. We've probably already missed breakfast." She said, rather disappointed to break the moment they were having.
"At least someone does." Joey said with a laugh, glad she liked his behavior. Joey's mind had similar thought to Olivia. "We should probably get to breakfast, if we haven't missed it already." He said with a laugh. Time flew when you were having fun, and apparently it also flew when you were talking with your significant other. |
"Actually, I brought some sweets I found at a bakery yesterday just in case I got lost. So if we don't make it in time, we can always share those. But...It'd be better to see if there's anything left first!" Flutter nodded, smiling a bit before tugging on his hand lightly. "Shall we go?"
"Crap," He cursed under his breath lightly. He'd completely lost track of time. "Sorry about that. I really lost track of time there. I've been enjoying our conversation too much apparently..." Shaking it off, he took hold of Oliver's hand again, tugging on it. "Let's get going then?" |
"Yeah," Joey said and allowed her to pull him along, holding her hand as they walked. "I wonder how it went with Saya and Oliver. You're brother has quite the crush on him you know." Joey grinned, thinking of the boy's earlier embarrassment.
Olivia laughed, following Saya, happy to have his hand around hers. "No, it's just as much my fault." She said with a smile. She wished she had more time with him, but she knew they had all the time in the world when they got out of school. They shared a room after all. Olivia felt a strange shiver go through her at that thought. They definitely would have quality alone time. |
"I think Oliver feels the same! So it should be fine, then!" Flutter replied, smiling. She giggled a bit, thinking. "But... For some reason, I still can't think of Oliver as a boy... It's annoying me that I keep thinking he's a girl when I look at him! When I brought it up, he said he's used to it but...It must have offended him, still..."
Noting the shiver, Sayaku tugged on the boy's hand lightly. "You alright? You seem nervous or something. If you're worried about the time, we should be able to get to class pretty easily. No need to worry." |
Joey nodded. "Me to. He doesn't give off a very male vibe. Though I call him a girl all the time, so I wouldn't worry about it. He doesn't seem like that offends him." He said with a laugh.
Olivia waved her free hand, as if the shiver meant nothing. "I'm fine." She assured him, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. It was the truth, for the most part. She felt happier than she had in a long time, but also more nervous than she had been in a long time. Brushing her thoughts of nervousness away Olivia looked at Saya and decided that it really wasn't fair if she was the only one acting nervously. So, she leaned over and gave Saya's cheek a quick kiss. |
The gesture had indeed surprised him, though that may have been strange considering his own earlier boldness. However, he smiled to the other, despite a red face, squeezing his hand in return before looking ahead a bit more easily. "I'm glad to hear it."
"Males are scary mostly, though..." Flutter noted, thinking about it. "But I'm surprised since in that situation Saya should be the one scared. But he's happy...Ah well. It's a good thing for the most part I guess." Flutter giggled, smiling. "Saya shouldn't be scared of his own room mate after all. That would be bad." |
"Should we try for breakfast, or just head straight to class?" Olivia asked as they walked. It felt strange to be walking hand-in-hand with Saya, as it was the last scenario she had ever thought would happen when she came to this school.
Joey laughed. "Scared of lil' oh Olly? I think that's pretty impossible. I mean, the kid looks like he couldn't harm a fly. Though what do I know about those kinds of things? I've never been scared of guys or gals so I wouldn't know." He shrugged. |
"Breakfast is still the most important part of the day, so it'd probably be better to at least try. Who knows, it might be our lucky day or something." Sayaku grinned, heading towards the cafeteria. "It's hard to concentrate in classes if we don't eat. Well, that's how it is for me anyway. Not sure if you'd have the same trouble."
Flutter smiled. "Saya's scared of girls because most girls he grew up with were violent. I'm scared of boys because I was attacked by one once. Maybe we're just unlucky, but it's how things ended up. Though...I think it's worse for big brother than for me..." |
"Worse for Saya? I-" Joey began then stopped. He hadn't seen Saya around any girls before, so he couldn't judge exactly how extreme his fear was. "I guess I never thought about it that way. I don't really know the specifics and it's probably not my business, but what happened to him... exactly? Was it one event or just a bunch of things combing?" He asked tentatively, though he knew it wasn't his business.
Olivia nodded and then grinned when she caught sight of the cafeteria. "Huh, looks like luck is on our side. It's still open." She happily tugged Saya along inside. |
"Saya used to really like someone we grew up with, Chini. In the village, everyone was like family, from what i know, so it wasn't uncommon for people to get easily close to people...But...getting close means getting hurt. And whenever Chini hurt, Saya was there...to be the punching bag." Flutter frowned slightly. "Chini was very violent when upset, apparently. She beat him as bad as the goats on the farm. When he moved in with me and uncle, his fear wasn't as bad but...He met another girl he got along with. Until she also started being violent. She hurt him often. And...As these things continued, he just got scared all girls would do that, since all the girls closest to him besides mom and me did things like that."
Sayaku smiled with relief. "Let's get something to eat real quick then and head to class. It's a relief we can still get some food though." Grinning, he followed him inside and went to get some food. "What're you gonna have?" |
Olivia looked over her choices. "Hmmm, I think I'll just get an apple." She said, taking one. She wasn't particularly hungry, but she knew she would be later. "What about you?" She glanced at Saya as they went through the line.
"Wow... I honestly can't imagine what that would be like. It would be difficult to defend himself, because society would see him as the bad guy... I think I've just gained a new respect for your brother." Joey said with a smile. "Ah, there's the cafeteria!" He said with a grin. |
"In my case I'm taking a banana and an orange, but we seem to have similar tastes all points considered- we both chose fruit." He laughed a bit. "Apples are good sources of vitamin C and some other things, I believe. I need the vitamin c, but bananas are good for the potassium. You know that if you don't get enough potassium it actually causes muscle pain, even if you don't do much to cause it in the first place?" He looked at his friend curiously, then laughed nervously. "Heh, I must sound odd saying stuff like that. But a balanced diet is important..."
"My brother hates violence in general so he doesn't fight back but...Considering Chini was stronger than the goats he dealt with on a day to day basis, it's sorta struggling to think about... And those goats hated him for some reason." Laughing nervously, she looked at the cafeteria, giggling a bit. "Yay! I'm hungry. I hope they have some sort of cake...Though it's not a normal breakfast food by any means." Giggling a bit, she hugged onto Joey's arm for a moment, no reason in particular in her head. "You really are warm." |
"Oh, I'm sure they'll have something you'll like." Joey said with a smile. He found her love of sweets endearing. His face went a little red at her comment, but he smiled softly. "Hmmm, and so are you." He told, taking his free hand and gently brushing a strand of hair from her face.
Olivia giggled slightly and patted Saya's shoulder. "Not at all." She assured him. "It's good to know, and I like fruit. It's delicious." She said, taking a bite of her apple as they went to their table. Her shoulder brushed Saya's as she sat down and she felt a smile play on her lips. It was nice to be allowed to touch, to not always have to restrain herself. |
"I love fruit also. Fruit and add vegetables have always been my main diet. I don't really eat meat much, besides some fish on occasion." Sitting easily while ignoring his brushed shoulder, he.started to peel his orange in careful movements. Taking a bite, he ripped a slice off and held it out. "Want some?"
"I'm pretty picky with my sweets though." She replied, giggling a bit to herself, free hand slightly covering her mouth. "Me warm? I always feel cold, so that's a surprise..." She soon noticed the movement of get hair, frowning slightly. "My hair always gets in the way... Should I cut it? I used to braid it but it takes more time than I prefer to spare because of the length anyway..." She trailed off as she though about it. "Maybe of I could wake up earlier..." She then looked at Joey curiously. "How are you so lively in the morning, anyhow? Tell me your secret, please?" She giggled slightly, however, feeling childish in some way just by asking. |
Joey smiled, taking a strand of her hair in his hand for just a moment. "I like your hair, it's beautiful." He told her as he let the strand fall from his hand. Joey laughed a grin spreading onto his face. "My secret? Ah, well I don't really have a secret. I just... sleep when I'm tired and wake up when I'm not." He scratched the back of his head. "That's not really much help, is it?"
"Sure," Olivia said, taking the orange slice and putting it in her mouth. "Mmm, yummy." She said with a smiled. "My diet is generally grain products I think. Pasta, cereal, bread, that kinda stuff." She took a bite of her apple then held it out for Saya. "Wanna bite?" |
She giggled slightly, a tad embarrassed but able to hide it. "If I just slept when I was tired and woke when I wasn't, I'd basically always be asleep, since I'm always a little tired." She laughed a bit, nervously. "But... I like waking up at least a little during the day. It's nice to see the sunlight and the flowers." She thought about the earlier statements, however. "Hm...Maybe I should just try not to worry too much about timing and braid my hair anyway. It takes a lot of time since my hair is so long but...I don't really like getting it cut." She laughed. "I only get my hair cut...once every year or two. That's why it's so long. Is it strange that I do that?"
"I like home made bread the best. I have some old recipes my mom used to use to make it, but I haven't used them in a long while. Sis uses more recipes mom had then I do, usually for sweets though." Sayaku laughed, taking the apple and biting the same area, grinning. "Was that too bold of me?" |
Olivia blinked, surprised, and realized that it had been an indirect kiss. She hadn't even thought about that when she offered him a bite. Her face colored slightly, but instead of stuttering or looking away she took the apple back and took a bite in the same area. "Not at all." She said with a smile, looking into his eyes. She wanted to kiss him then, but she knew they were in public and all the people, though they were few, made her nervous.
"I love the sunshine. It's so warm." He said as they walked in the cafeteria. "It's not strange at all. You like your hair long, and it's so pretty I understand why." He told her with a grin, walking to the sweets section of the food. "Something you like?" |
He chuckled a bit, grinning in response. Though he smiled, he was happily eating his orange as he kept an eye on him. "Er...I have a really pathetic-sounding question to ask, if it's alright." Finishing his orange pretty easily, he folded his arms under his head, looking at Oliver with an intent gaze. "You said yes...So what does that make us now?"
"Agreed! I'm always cold it seems like, so warmth is really helpful. And I just love plants, too. And the sun makes them happy too, I can tell because they always reach out towards the sun when they're growing." Giggling a bit, she followed him, looking at the sweets with curiosity. One in particular caught her eye- an herb-based cake, colorful and aromatic. "I'd like a piece of this." She smiled, taking it. To be safe, she took a cookie she'd found as well. "This cake looks like the cake mom used to make for me. So I want to try it... I wonder if it has the same herbs?" |
Olivia felt the air go out from her lungs at his question. What were they? She had simply felt that she now had a claim on him. She hadn't really thought of what they would 'be.' Staring into his eyes she felt her face warm at his gaze. It was so intent she felt his blues eyes might swallow her whole. "We..." She bit her lip slightly, unsure of what to say. "I mean, I think that makes us... boyfriends." She wanted to wince at the word. She was a girl. She was his girlfriend. But she couldn't say that. "That is... if that's okay with you." She she wanted to look away, but she could make her eyes leave his.
"Mmmm, that looks good. I think I'll get a piece." Joey said, taking a piece of the same cake. "Well... all the food here is really good quality, but I wouldn't know what's in it." He smiled fondly at Flutter. Every second he found her more adorable than the last. |
"Not a problem with me. To be honest, I just stink with that stuff so I had to ask to make sure. Otherwise I'd just say something and sound stupid all the sudden, most likely..." Sayaku laughed a bit, smiling. "Thanks for confirming for me."
"I'll be able to tell depending on how the flavors mix," Flutter replied, giggling. "The best version of the cake would use local herbs, so...I'm guessing thyme and dill, since I know I saw some outside on my way here yesterday." |
Olivia laughed, feeling relief at his words. Her worry had been unnecessary after all. She smiled, he might not refer to her as his girlfriend, but he was her boyfriend. The thought sent a warm fuzzy feeling through her. She had a boyfriend. She couldn't wait to tell her sister! Then again, she couldn't tell her sisters. They would want to talk to him and if they did that her secret would be out. "Of course." She said in response to Saya's thanks. "Honestly, I'm not much better. In fact I'm probably worse." She told him with as grin, then finished off her apple.
Joey was impressed by Flutter's knowledge of herbs. "That's pretty amazing, you knowing so much about this kind of stuff. I don't think I'd ever remember all those herbs." He laughed and began to lead her to their table. Then he spotted Saya and Olivia. He grinned, thinking they looked kind of cozy. "Hey Flutter, I think things are going well." He motioned toward where they sat. |
"Eh. Well, at least we don't have to worry about feeling a little dense once in a while if we're the same." He grinned, finishing his food. "Hey...is it okay if I mention you to my mom? I mean, I think I mentioned you in general but...Well, to be honest, mom figured me out even faster then Joey I think. She kept teasing me and I promised her an update even though I wasn't fully positive at that point if she was right. I plan on telling her about my sister and Joey too, of course. But... I want your permission first. She's probably going to want to talk to you after all. Would it make you uncomfortable? My dad sleeps all day so it's unlikely you'll really get to talk to him, but...While my mom is very homely, she's very uh...Nosy."
"Herbs are my specialty! I want to work in herbal medicine when I can graduate. But I should worry about finishing high school first..." Flutter thought about it. "I've always been really good at math and science based things, but I'm horrible with language and history to the point of no return. My brother and I are polar opposites with that. We're polar opposites in basically everything. But...It works out okay when it comes to studies, because we just tutor each other in our good subjects! Like Saya's horrible math skills!" Flutter laughed a bit, smiling. She then looked over at the two boys at the table. "They seem so happy! I really am glad. Saya was always bad with girls...And even if Oliver is a boy, he's so feminine, so I was worried Saya would have trouble. I'm glad he's doing okay. Big brother is very important to me. It's always nice to see him smile, even if it confuses me often. Though..." She looked up at Joey, giggling a bit. "I also rather enjoy seeing Joey smile!" |
Olivia laughed. "I think Joey and your mother are physics, because I didn't get even the slightest hint. So it's either that or I'm just unnaturally dense. But no, I don't mind if you tell her about me. I'll talk to her." She assured him without thinking it through. His mother would only hear her voice, and her obvious conclusion would be that Olivia was a girl.
"Ah, math." Joey said with a sigh. "Not my best subject. It's useful to have someone around who knows it well. Normally I ask Peter." Then he grinned, showing her his biggest smile. "And I like smiling for you, but I enjoy your smile even more." His expression soften to kind look for a second before he returned to normal. "Shall we join them?" He asked, pointing to Saya and Olivia. "Or would you prefer to leave them be." |
"That's a relief. Oh, um...Fair warning. My mother's a bit of a rambler, and also tends to make wild assumptions. Don't get mad if she does what others have been doing and assumes you're a girl when you first talk to her, kay? She's pretty blatant with this stuff. I think she's the one I get my dense nature from... Dad's much more resolved and stale, so to speak."
"I'd be happy to help you with your math sometimes if you ever need it." Flutter replied, giggling a bit. "I help big brother all the time, so helping you would be just fine as well to me." She listened to his later note, slightly red from his statement regarding her smiling, but smiled due to it nonetheless. She then looked over at her brother and Oliver. "Considering how little they're eating, it probably wouldn't make much difference either way. What do you think?" |
Olivia laughed. "Don't worry, I'm used to it. She'd only be the millionth person to think so." She told him, relieved. Saya thought she was a boy and would assure his mother of that. She felt a prick of guilt. This lie she was living was a tough one.
Joey gazed over at Olivia and Saya for a moment, and then with a grin said, "Well... I'm far to nosy for my own good, so I'd like to join them." He started walking over, checking to be sure Flutter was at his side. "Hey you two!" He called to them. |
Sayaku chuckled. "Just because it's often doesn't mean it's fair that it happens. I'd get annoyed if someone thought I was a gal...Though most people guess otherwise since I have so many goats hating me entirely." Sayaku laughed. "Girls are less often attacked by goats, it's been noted."
"Wait up." Flutter noted the words slightly as she followed suit, keeping up best of her ability as she waved to her brother and friend. "Oi!" "You do realize that sort of greeting is odd here, right, sis?" Sayaku chuckled, looking at his sister's tray. "Huh...I never noticed they had herb cake. No wonder you're so happy." "I have lots of reasons to be happy." Flutter noted, giggling. She smiled and looked over to Oliver. "I smell a red apple. Or something. Did you just eat an apple?" "You can smell that?" "Not strongly, but apples have a very sweet and mild scent." |
Olivia shook her head. "I think most guys would get annoyed, but it really doesn't bother me" She looked over at Joey and Flutter and smiled. Things seemed to be going well between them. "Yeah, I did." She said to Flutter, then she looked at Joey and grinned. "You look particularly happy as well."
Joey laughed and sat down. "I'm always happy, but yes, I am rather happy at the moment. More so than usual." Then his smile turned teasing. "Of course, you look rather happy yourself." His eyes went between Saya and Olivia and he raised his eyebrow suggestively. Olivia went scarlet. It was impossible to tease Joey, he would simply just turn it around and tease you. |
Flutter laughed a bit, smiling to the Oliver's red face. "I'm really happy too! So that means everyone here is really happy, doesn't it? 'Cause big brother's smiling too, so that means he's also happy." She giggled a bit, clapping before beginning to cut a piece of her food off. "Take good care of big brother by the way, 'kay?"
"Shouldn't I be the one taking care of him?" Sayaku asked, looking at his sister blankly. Shaking it off soon after, however, he looked over at Joey. Apparently the teasing left him unphased. "Yeah 'cause I did what you said and it worked out. 'Course I'm happy." "And I did what we talked about too, Oliver! It's neat isn't it? Right? Things seem to be well for everyone!" |
Olivia laughed, though it sounded closer to a giggle than a laugh. "I'll be sure to watch over him." She said grinning. "He's quite the handful." She teased playfully.
"Of course it did. You two were incredibly obvious about how you felt. I mean, you share a room so I figured it would be impossible to hide those feelings from each other, or I would have intervened sooner." Joey said, then laughed. "I'd watch out Olly, Saya's the jealous type" He said with a wink, referring to his purposefully getting Saya jealous earlier. Olivia laughed. "Well that jealously worked in my favor didn't it?" She smiled and looked at Flutter. "You came up with confessing all on your own. I just told you to follow your feelings." |
"It's not like I ever said I wasn't," Sayaku said, chuckling a bit. "I admit I have protective and possessiveness in my nature. I may not be proud of it, but it is indefinitely the case."
"Isn't confession upon accepting a feeling the most logical pattern?" Flutter thought this through, meanwhile. Sayaku shook his head. "Something tells me Joey's got a bigger handful on his hands then you do, Olive. More then he'd expect." Flutter merely looked at him. "I don't get it but okay... Last I checked, though, aren't you a lot bigger than me?" She laughed a bit- a way to show she generally did understand, but wanted to ignore the tease with a tease of her own. |
Olivia grinned sheepishly. "Logically, yeah confessing makes sense but... Well, you are certainly braver than I. I don't think I could have done it." She said, knowing her own timid nature would have sent her into a stuttering fit if she had attempted such a thing.
Joey shrugged. "Worth it. Defiantly worth it." Then he grinned. "Besides, the harder the challenge the more worthy the prize, no?" He looked over at Flutter, giving her a wide smile. |
"I suppose so. They say the more challenging a scenario the higher the payout," Flutter noted, thinking on it. She took a bite. "Saya, Saya! Doesn't this really taste a lot like mom's cake?" She giggled, smiling at the taste of the cake she'd chosen. "It's not too sweet but has enough sugar. And it tastes so much like mom's herb cake. Do you think she made it and sent it here?"
"You realize it'd be stale if she did that, right?" Sayaku forced a piece off of his sister's cake. He swallowed it quickly. "Yep, mom's cake alright, though...Too sweet for me still, though." "Saya really does hate sweets, huh?" Flutter giggled, continuing to enjoy her meal. "That's why he doesn't take any of the cookies I make for him as obligation sweets on Valentine's day. It's a common custom to do such a thing back home, but some people won't accept them. It's pointless to make for big brother..." "Why do you make them anyway?" "I can eat them on my own, of course." Flutter laughed. "I like the sweets." |
Valentines day. That was something that hadn't even crossed Olivia's mind. If Saya didn't like sweets, what would she get him? He liked fruit though. She wondered if he would like chocolate covered strawberries if the chocolate was bitter. Olivia laughed at Flutter's comment about eating her brothers sweets. If she did make him something, at least it wouldn't go to waste.
"That is a shame. Sweets are amazing." Joey said with a grin. He didn't eat them as often as Flutter, but he was know to sneak a sweet or two when the opportunity presented itself. Olivia looked around, noticing the cafeteria was clearing and now looked fairly close to empty. "Saya, are you done eating? We should probably get to class." |
"White's day is still easy for him though since it basically is just reversed Valentine's day. My brother's really good at making sweets." Flutter giggled, smiling. "'Cause he cooks them a lot when he's in charge of cooking back home."
"Yeah, but that girl can't make anything but sweets to begin with...So I'm in charge more often then her if I wanna eat." Sayaku rolled his eyes, noticing the way the cafeteria was so quiet. He looked at a clock. "Dang, you're right! Let's scram then. I'm done anyway." "Be safe, big brother! Oliver~!" "Sure." "Does Joey need to go to class too?" Flutter looked over at him curiously while her brother got up to throw out his garbage. |
Joey thought for a moment. "Yeah... I should go." He said, though he looked reluctant. "See you tomorrow though?" He asked to make sure she'd be there.
Olivia stood, throwing her trash away and laughed slightly at Saya's reaction. "Relax, we won't be late. We'll probably just make it." She said the turned to Flutter "See you!" She called, then turned with Saya to go to their class. |
"Of course!" She giggled, smiling. "Can you show me some of the math you're doing in classes later? I'm curious what higher math looks like." She smiled still, standing cheerfully. "It is okay right? For me to come again? Since the school said it's okay too, I'll definitely be again soon!" She waved to her brother and Olivia, smiling.
"That's a relief. Though to be honest, since first period's science today I don't really mind the idea of being late. Science and math are sorta my least favorite subjects. Though science is better then math by far." Sayaku laughed a bit, waving to his sister and his friend, tugging on his boyfriend's hand. |
Joey nodded. "Of course I will. And I have a feeling you'll fly right through the stuff." He grinned. "I fine for you to come here. See you soon Flutter." Then with a very gentle touch he let his hand brush her face. Then he turned and went to his class.
Olivia grinned. "I know what you mean. They're not exactly my best classes either. Oh well, the sooner we get them over with the better, right?" She said, holding his hand. It felt nice to have his hand on hers. Their skin felt rough, but roughness meant hard work, and hard work meant strength, and strength meant protection. Most of all, however, his touch made her happy, and she was unable to keep from smiling. |
"Yes!" Flutter replied, slightly giddy from the slight touch to her face. It had made her turn red, but most of all it had made her smile somehow, as she giggled and watched him go to class. Normally touch would bother her, but it was so gentle she'd barely felt it, and that relieved her. "Oh. I should go too. I wanted to go to the flower shop nearby..." She fled quickly after finishing her food.
"That's true. And it's not like there's no one we can turn to for help in those subjects." Sayaku grinned, using his free hand to scratch his neck slightly for no particular reason. "What class are you most looking forward to?" |
