The penguin was an accident, damn it! It did look lovely when it glowed, though.
-glances at DL- I'd take stamina over not eating any day, especially if you can get a stable modification of the created stomach acids and nutrient absorption to allow for consumption of more inorganic materials. |
Hmmm, I'll take that into consideration. I would have to increase either to potence of stomache acids to do that though, which would mean a stronger stomache wall which is heavier meaning I'd have to compinsate for the heavier weight with either increased muscle volumn or a stockier build.

If the weight would be that different just because of it, maybe you need to look into using a different kind of cell itself to maximize the durability of the creature as a whole.
I'm rather biased, though. I enjoy creatures that can take a hell of a beating. They don't die as much. More experiments get done. It's win-win. |
If I did that the heart and arteries would suffer. Blood won't be able to flow smoothly enough.

The blood is stronger therefore thicker, meaning the artery walls would have to be thinner and more easily broken. The heart would also be thinner and the flow of blood would be very easy to reverse. Likewise if I left the heart/artery walls the same size the blood would form clots and clots would build untill they completely blocked the passages.

Strength doesn't have to come from thickness so much as a reworking of the structure, proteins, and the like. The stronger blood cells would be easy to give more capacity and ability, so you can alter the cell to plasma ratio easily to compensate. The number of blood cells isn't nearly as important as making the ones there work, and keeping the right amount of fluids.

at least you don't have the added plus of a crippling lung disease that multiplies the length and severity of said cold by at least 10 >_>

I don't care for individuality, but I'm certainly one of a kind. Only 400 confirmed cases of my condition in the entire US, and i have a new variation they've never seen before. So i have a one in-of-a-kind version of a super rare disease :D

now that i've been diagnosed, I should be able to live a normal length of life. they don't really have much proof of this though, since it has only been discovered for 18 years. they haven't seen nyone live a full life with it yet o-o
