I mean, that's an estimate on the low side, so..
Also, there are significantly more patterns available for people who crochet or needle knit than there are for loom knitting (especially for people who are good at making their own patterns). Otherwise, I'd probably have a ton more.

Update, I probably actually have over 20 shawl patterns...just half or so of them I think are on my ipad...which I don't know where the charger for it is...
XD

But just as far as the free shawl patterns on ravelry, there are just over 4,000 crochet, almost 12,500k needle knit, and 44 loom knit

trystan830 04-26-2019 09:37 PM

ooh true, good point. :S

Kaderin Triste 04-26-2019 09:40 PM

We're getting there slowly, thanks to several dedicated pattern makers. Unfortunately most of the patterns I want aren't free. But most of them aren't terribly expensive considering that they're usually in e-books of 4-6 patterns usually.

trystan830 04-26-2019 09:44 PM

well that's cool then.

on Rav, my default patterns are crochet, so i usually pick my project, then select "free" before looking at any of the pattern pictures. every so often, i'll buy a pattern. my queue is my wish list of paid patterns i want. i change it every so often though. XD

Kaderin Triste 04-27-2019 05:39 AM

Started on a new shawl (the nymphalidea shawl)! Realized the purple I chose is a little too red-toned for what I was planning, but is should still turn out okay. Have done the first 3 wedges, but it doesn't look like much yet. I'm also not 100% sure I'm doing my color changes right as I normally go with russian join, but that won't work with this pattern as the color changes have to be fairly precise and the pattern notes regarding the changes were pretty vague.

KittyBeary 04-27-2019 06:47 AM

In response to Derpy's question, currently a giant sword. x___x"

trystan830 04-27-2019 12:02 PM

i'm bad when i change colors.... i tie knots. XD

Kaderin Triste 04-27-2019 01:07 PM

Sometimes I tie knots, but only if I'm really fed up with the yarn or if they won't be super obvious. Like in a double knit scarf where I can tuck the knot in the middle of the yarns. For 99% of other joins, I do the Russian join because it's easy and it holds well. But it's not good if you need very precise color placement.
XD

trystan830 04-27-2019 06:21 PM

depending on what i'm doing, i'll do color changes where the last pull-through on the stitch is the new color. then i have ends to crochet over top of, as i hate weaving in ends XD

I've got a lot of free shawl (knitting) patterns saved to my laptop... I have to remind myself to toggle "English" as the language when I search though.

trystan830 04-27-2019 07:01 PM

i have a lot of free patterns in my library on Rav. and printed out. XD

Kaderin Triste 04-27-2019 07:16 PM

Wooo! Done with work! Time to go home and eork on the shawl! Or find a good lavender yarn for a custom alpaca request.

KittyBeary 04-28-2019 11:31 PM

Yay more alpacas! *O*

Just got done making these ears:

Kaderin Triste 04-29-2019 06:30 PM

Awwww cute!

I haven't picked the second alpaca yarn color yet, tbh (trying to decide if I want to get a fuzzy yarn for it mainly). But I did work on finishing the first one. Had to look up the video to figure out part of the instructions, but I should now be able to finish it off in the next couple days....if I can find it's head... >.>
Also, started another dragon on Sat and did a decent amount on the shawl I'm working on. It's probably around 1/4 done.

KittyBeary 04-30-2019 06:11 AM

Good luck on the alpaca and the dragon! Video tutorials are my new best friend. ><

Damies 05-06-2019 09:30 AM

I HAVE BEEN SO BUSY!
I did this and I dunno if I ever posted it but I also did this and I've started playing with UV resin which resulted in this.

Also it's spring so yard work is a thing. I am getting a pole saw to cut down some annoying tree branches.

Kaderin Triste 05-06-2019 01:53 PM

Yay for doing stuff! I've been pretty lazy dince last week...made a few dragon parts around Mon/Tues, then did pretty much nothing.
Well, except I did like 6-8 rows on a blanket didn't keep track, but approx that many rows, basically worked until I hit the last full row I could do with my current skein of yarn. Lol. And prepped thr next skein for when I work on it ahain, so the colors will match.

trystan830 05-06-2019 02:34 PM

blanket. i took a wobbly video of the blanket i'm making for my younger daughter. the sections are now stitched together, and i'm working on the border.

Free Comic Book Day kicked my butt as it tends to do, but I was able to raise $55 for a friend's cat's final expenses, so there is that.

trystan830 05-06-2019 07:41 PM

ooh cool, Den :)

Kaderin Triste 05-06-2019 08:37 PM

I basically bought a candy bar and got a nice velvet yarn and cute cat themed "makeup" bag for free thanks to my rewards at Joann! 8D
I'm thinking of trying the dragonfly lace shawl with the yarn and the bag might be a good "on the go" kit for some nail polish, pain killers, and other essential items.

trystan830 05-06-2019 09:53 PM

oooh velvet yarn.

and a free bag is always good for a project!

Derpy McBlueEyes 05-06-2019 09:55 PM

Lol WAY too small to be a project bag. XD
It's maybe 6×4×4 inches or so in dimension.
But it could probably just fit Derpy inside... XD

trystan830 05-06-2019 10:44 PM

ah. well then, it's a Derpy travel case! =)

Kaderin Triste 05-06-2019 10:58 PM

Derpy...get in the bag.
Lol.

It can be a little portable Derpy nap pod.
XD

trystan830 05-07-2019 12:50 AM

aww that sounds adorable. pics? =)

Kaderin Triste 05-07-2019 01:07 AM

Will take some when I get home from work tonight. And hopefully will remember to upload them tomorrow.

trystan830 05-07-2019 01:09 AM

Yeah, remembering to upload is always the sticking point for me XD

Kaderin Triste 05-07-2019 01:22 AM

I've got a ton of cute Derpy pics...never bother to upload and share...
XD

trystan830 05-07-2019 09:48 AM

reminds me i still have a picture of my cat Blackie i want to post....

Kaderin Triste 05-13-2019 09:49 PM

Ugh. Mad because I want to make some cool scale and chain mail items, but I don't have rings in the sizes I need and I can't afford to buy any right now...

But I learned how do the full Persian (Persian 6-1) weave yesterday and also learned how to make a heart with it.
https://i.postimg.cc/MGT557x9/IMG-20...211112-632.jpg
I also dabbled with scalemail, but idk how to actually make anything with it yet, so it's just some practice swatches right now.

Linkle 05-14-2019 12:08 PM

OH THAT HEART IS SO CUTE AAAA!!!

Sorry for my absence.

Kaderin Triste 05-14-2019 02:20 PM

Thanks! Once I discovered how easy the full persian weave actually was, they're pretty easy to make. Have also made a green heart and am almost done with one that's yellow and pastel pink and blue.
Really want to make some scale flowers, but I don't have one of the ring sizes I need.

trystan830 05-14-2019 07:41 PM

so .... the blanket for my younger daughter is done!!

i put the two parts together, so here's two pictures of the same blanket - each half has its show right-side up, but you can see the whole thing.

back here-->

Derpy McBlueEyes 05-16-2019 02:15 AM

"Cute!" Derpy grabs a corner of the blanket and attempts to waddle away with it.

Merskelly Metalien 05-16-2019 02:46 AM

:D That is an awesome blanket! I especially love the reversibility. And the Big Tuna/Nard Dog. x3
*covers the Derpy in it pretending to capture him* >:3 Caughtcha!

Derpy McBlueEyes 05-16-2019 04:20 AM

Derpy flails under the blanket. "Ohno! Help! Somebody help! I'm twapped!"

Merskelly Metalien 05-16-2019 04:59 AM

x} *cuddles the Derpy in the blanket* awwh it's only me Derpy! ^u^ I gotcha'.

trystan830 05-16-2019 10:16 AM

i got a good laugh, picturing Derpy trying to waddle away with the blanket.... it's huge!

and thanks, Merskelly!

Merskelly Metalien 05-16-2019 03:30 PM

It looks warm! :] Great job! Though I've only ever seen bits and pieces of Parks & Rec, I've seen all of The Office. *cuddles up in own mermaid tail blanket* ^-^ I'm sure it took a lot of time and effort tho!
