yep. replacing all the instances of the N-word with "slave" instead. *vein pop*

Demonskid 01-06-2011 02:33 PM

Ohh..

WHAT they are editing Huckleberry Finn? Dx what the hell! leave classics alone! D< they were WRITTEN that way cause of the TIME PERIOD it was set in! D<

Echo-chan713 01-06-2011 02:33 PM

or black...but back then that's what they called Black people the 'n-word' so you cant just change the slangs back then just to get the present black kids more comfortable.

Gozed 01-06-2011 02:36 PM

They're...changing it? So while racism can still exist in the world, in movies, and on television shows, it can't be in a book written 126 years ago...

The world is stupid.

Demonskid 01-06-2011 02:36 PM

._. I hate people who change stuff just cause it 'offends' other people...

some people are going to like it, some arent.. why not edit all the other classic stuff to D< *riots*

ok I'ma go now ._. I'm getting into this to much

Apagracia 01-06-2011 02:38 PM

what pisses me off the most is that it's ok to talk about "poppin' caps in niggaz asses" but god forbid a book written in the 1800s by one of the most vocal anti-slavery activists EVER should contain the N-word in the socially accepted context of the time.

Echo-chan713 01-06-2011 02:38 PM

More information about the change here:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/...n7217076.shtml

I'm thinking that the teachers (or anyone by that matter) don't give kids warning about the book that it contains the word excessively because of the time period the story was taken place and when it was made.

#FFFFFF 01-06-2011 02:41 PM

The word slave is much more offensive. O__o
