That reminds me...I need to invest in a curved needle for making more journals/books. Straight needles are such a pain to try to use. XP
And also, I need to haul ass on a project I want to do for a friend for Christmas...

It fits into an Altoids Smalls tin. I glued small sheets of sketchbook paper to a piece of card stock, and then glued the leather to the other side of the card stock.

I'm gonna make an apron for my mom. xD

A fancy sneaky apron!

ZenKitty 11-07-2017 11:05 PM

That's a great idea, Den. I might have to try that - although I have no leather for the cover.

Den 11-07-2017 11:07 PM

I got the leather at Hobby Lobby, but if you have a Tandy Leather Company near you, they'll be a better deal, or you can always check Etsy or Ebay.

ZenKitty 11-07-2017 11:15 PM

Thanks for the info Den.
I'll have to check Hobby Lobby. The nearest Tandy Leather is about 1 1/2 hours away.

there're models at the nearest HL to me that I really wanna get... mostly because I wanna make 'em look like various Transformers.

MY APRON IS DONE!

Only took about an hour to make it. I made it from fleece so it was easy/lazy due to no need to hem all the edges. xD

tsukiko 11-08-2017 03:43 PM

bwahahahahaa! look at damies go!

and i'd love to see your tiny leather book, den. sounds awesome! ^__^ i didn't make it, but i decorated a small cardboard book with scrapbooking stuff and old pictures of my mom. still need to finish the last few pages, but it's a place to keep her special baby photos she had just sitting in a box.

Kaderin Triste 11-08-2017 05:13 PM

Ugh, I haven't even started my apron. But I hopefully bought all the accent color fabric I'll need in the form of fat quarters because we had a 70% off total fat quarters purchase coupon...
(I probably should have stocked up on more, but only got what I needed for the apron...)
Now gotta learn how to use patterns.... >.>

tsukiko 11-08-2017 05:21 PM

awwwwe you can do it, kaderin! *pulls out the pom poms to cheer you on*

Kaderin Triste 11-08-2017 05:23 PM

Hmmm....doesn't help that I have books to read and foxes and Christmas presents make still too...
But if I haven't misplaced it, I will finish cutting out my pattern pieces and then review the info in my "learn to sew" book/magazine on using patterns.
XD
I am such a little newblet...

-peeks in to see the November theme-
We sell aprons at my store and I have to wear one as my uniform.

Kaderin Triste 11-08-2017 06:11 PM

Yeah. We have to wear them at my job too. And they just changed them. To a bright lime green. And the neck is almost too high unless you actually have boobs or are a genius and know how to adjust it properly.
XP
I hate them.

tsukiko 11-08-2017 06:58 PM

awwwww....we only have to wear the crap-tastic aprons at work when corporate is going to be in the store. if you've ever been to the dollar tree toy or craft aisle and see those aprons for kids....imagine them black with the store logo on them and adult sized. that's ours. cheapest, thinnest material ever that barely can hold onto the thin strips of material that they use for ties xD

Kaderin Triste 11-08-2017 07:24 PM

Lol. We used to be able to wear aprons we made, but I think that's not allowed now that we have the ugly new ones except on certain "fun days".
