"What does Mello mean?" Near asked as he stepped out of the kitchen. "Matt said that Nate saved L."

"That doesn't mean that L called the case...he didn't have evidence against the real Kira." Mello sighed. "...And Nate's actions prevented Yagami from getting his memories back."

Near's eyes went wide in surprise.

"So Raito Yagami isn't Kira anymore!?" Light gasped in awe.

"No, he is...we can't prove it because he doesn't know he is anymore." Mello sighed. "Further more...the show had the wrong count on the death notes."

"Please tell me there was too many," Missy groaned, leaning against Lawliet.

"No." Mello shook his head. "Apparently, as a fail-safe, Light Yagami tore out pages and made more...apparently you can ask for more pages from the shinigami."

"We knew it had infinite pages of some sort," Light admitted, frowning. "That guy's smarter then we ever imagined..."

"It gets worse," Nate admitted.

"How could it?" Missy groaned.

"Brace yourselves, this one really hurts." Mello sighed.

Mihael and Mail looked at each other worriedly.

"The Death Notes that Yagami had made were spread out," Nate explained, slowly. "Including copies of Amane's, as she didn't have her memories either... it was a fail safe that Light put into play in case he didn't get his memories back."

"Who were they given to?" Missy asked, frowning.

"Followers of Kira," Nate explained. "People who would continue the work in his name. But... you see...Shinigamis seem to have a sense of humor..."

He fell quiet for a moment.

"What does Nate mean?" Near finally asked.

Sighing, Nate glanced at Mello. "One of the Shinigami... the one that followed Amane, Rem... with the promise that Misa would be freed of all charges, she... well... made me the owner of one."

There was a sudden tense silence.

"...WHAT!?" Mihael burst in alarm.

"You got one?" Mail asked in disbelief. "A REAL death note?"

"No, you CANNOT see it!" Nate snapped, his shoulders tense.

"That is very risky," Near said, frowning deeply and looking at Mello.

"No, I gotta see it...Christ!" Mihael stepped up to Nate. "Have you used it!?"

"Ugh- I didn't plan on them being here!" Nate groaned. "If you guys can't act serious, I'm going to make you sit in the damn kitchen! Am I understood!?"

"Don't give me that shit!" Mihael grabbed Nate by the front of his shirt and shook him roughly. "What the HELL were you thinking!? Why did you do that! Why Nate! You knew we'd come for you, you idiot!"

Mihael growled and stormed out then.

"Give us a minute?" Nate asked everyone, though his gaze lingered on Mello for a few moments before he followed Mihael outside and pulled the door closed behind himself.

Stepping across the front porch toward the other, he sighed. "It'll snow soon... you don't even have a coat on."

"After all that, you worried about snow!?" Mihael whirled and walked back towards Nate- both of them meeting in the middle. "What the hell were you thinking!?"
