I barely cough during the day but when i go lay down to nap or sleep i cough... and when i wake up and just lay in bed for a bit i cough =/

That proves that there may be junk settled in your chest and when you go to lay down you shift it. I would recommend lying on your Tummy and seeing if you can hack anything up.

It basically is, but the fact that when you lie down it starts makes me think there is definately something settled. Which can be good (cause it means you can hack stuff up and get it out of your system), but it can also be bad (cause it could mean you're starting an Upper Respiratory Infection)...
