Quiet Man Cometh 11-18-2012 02:27 AM

I was listening to the radio the other day and the news was talking about the aliens that walk among us (In Vancouver) that go unnoticed and undiscovered until that time of the year in between Halloween and Christmas when they arrive at butcher shops and ask for a turkey. ;). Apparently one butcher got asked enough that he started ordering turkeys for the American thanksgiving. He stocks and sells some 300 of them either for American's living in Vancouver or for the occasional Canadian with American friends celebrating the holiday.

Ashy 11-18-2012 03:20 AM

dammit i thought you meant extraterrestrial aliens not americans >.>

Quiet Man Cometh 11-18-2012 03:26 AM

Hee hee. Actually, I am personally of the opinion that Thanksgiving should fall in November, since that would make it nicely between other two holidays, but I suppose that Remembrance Day is considered November's and Halloween is at the end of October so I suppose Thanksgiving sits where it does because of that. Not sure.

Ashy 11-18-2012 04:00 AM

we dont have thanksgiving, it would suck to have to dish out so much money so close together >.>

Quiet Man Cometh 11-18-2012 08:42 AM

Well it depends what you do I guess. My plan for this year was turkey burgers with dressing and cranberry aoli. But somehow we ended up with turkey anyway. Turkey burgers next year.

Arikana 11-18-2012 09:19 AM

Ashy doesn't have Thanksgiving in Australia? D: Why not? owo

Ultima 11-18-2012 12:22 PM

Australians are unthankful I guess o3o

^ that only because of the manga i read yesterday ._.,

Belial 11-18-2012 05:17 PM

Every time someone talks about aliens, I always think of that one guy from the History Channel.

Ashy 11-18-2012 08:18 PM

We dont have thanksgiving because its an american holiday, we have our own stuff. You guys don't celebrate Australia day or naidoc week >.>

Alpha 11-18-2012 08:33 PM

Well, yeah.....just the way the world goes, eh?

.........Thanksgiving isn't just American. >w> Canadians have their own Thanksgiving too. :3

And while Canada doesn't have Australia Day, we do have Canada Day. >w>

Kamikaze Chinchilla 11-18-2012 10:18 PM

Maple bacon syrup day *w*

Belial 11-18-2012 10:21 PM

I fully support a day celebrating bacon in some fashion.

Ultima 11-18-2012 10:29 PM

-ahem- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Bacon_Day

Kamikaze Chinchilla 11-18-2012 10:50 PM

Alright, let's drink some bacon juice and eat some bacon toast slathered with bacon grease <3

Arikana 11-18-2012 11:35 PM

owo

There's an International Bacon Day? owo What the crap? Why celebrate bacon? owo

Belial 11-19-2012 01:23 AM

Bacon is tasty and delicious.
Is there any other reason needed?

According to Wikipedia, the holiday started in England and then migrated to the new world from there. Goes back to the 1500ds apparently. Only five countries celebrate it apparently.

There's supposed to a be a bacon shortage coming too, apparently. The weather hasn't helped with the raising of pigs this past year. The news suggests stocking up now.

Yes. Everything should have logic and reason behind it. Including this. >w>

Alpha 11-19-2012 03:38 AM

But it's bacon....there is no reason needed other than that.....

Demonskid 11-19-2012 11:11 AM

America should celebrate White Day D<

Lucid: 11-19-2012 11:15 AM

Wouldn't that be a little racist? XD

Alpha 11-19-2012 11:18 AM

I believe it would.....perhaps something a bit less...I don't know.....

Demonskid 11-19-2012 11:18 AM

no cause its the other half of V-Day D:

Alpha 11-19-2012 11:23 AM

wait....what?

Demonskid 11-19-2012 11:32 AM

In japan
Valentines day, girls give things to their friends and boyfriends.

White Day, males give things back to the girls who gave them stuff..

OuO

Lucid: 11-19-2012 11:34 AM

But we can't call it White day here. >.> We'd have to think of a new name.

Also, I think most people here expect the men to plan fancy Valentine's dates for their ladies.

Espy 11-19-2012 11:36 AM

I don't. Not particularly, at least >.>

Arikana 11-19-2012 11:37 AM

How do you guys not know what white day is? owo

Alpha 11-19-2012 11:47 AM

Ummm....not too up to date on Japanese culture.....so......yeah.....

And we really couldn't call it that here.....would not turn out well. Besides, different cultural norms...

Demonskid 11-19-2012 12:00 PM

i'm gonna move to japan >.> i will be there one day

Alpha 11-19-2012 12:04 PM

I wouldn't mind visiting the East, certainly a lot of culture and history there. Wouldn't mind visiting Europe either....all the old castles and ancestry.

Arikana 11-19-2012 12:30 PM

When will this one day be, DK? owo

Yeah, same Alpha. I wanna go to as many countries and in the far east (Asia) and west (Europe). So far Asia's pounding Europe in countries visited. D:

I also want to traverse all seven continents and still need three more for that list.... >w>

Alpha 11-19-2012 12:42 PM

Should I ever get the chance to go to Europe, wouldn't mind tracking down my family lineage there....particularly if there are any of their castles left.

Belial 11-19-2012 12:47 PM

I have relatives in Italy but I wouldn't care to visit.
I'm not proficient, quite yet, in the language.
