I don't know for sure, but it's possible that English wasn't the person's first/native language. But now I know for the next one! Which will probably be Doctor Who themed since I got some cute tardis fabric.

Kaderin Triste 08-22-2019 02:50 PM

Would also like to buy some of our NASA fabrics to do some space/galaxy themed stuff.

trystan830 08-22-2019 02:51 PM

yep, now you know! also, share pics when you're done?

Kaderin Triste 08-22-2019 02:59 PM

For sure! Was gonna have pics of the finished skirt the other day, but decided I wanted to redo it. So if I really focus, maybe I'll refinish it this weekend. Lol
Started seam ripping last night and have gotten the hem and most of the waistband undone so far.

Death by Mirrors 08-22-2019 03:27 PM

Sounds good. You can do it! *cheers Kaderin on*

Kaderin Triste 08-22-2019 05:55 PM

Gonna try to finish the ripping tonight, then the cutting tomorrow night and the reassembly Saturday evening.
Tbh, I think the hardest part will be putting the zipper back in because I still haven't really figured out how to do that very well...

trystan830 08-22-2019 07:05 PM

zippers can be a pain in the rear!

Kaderin Triste 08-22-2019 08:09 PM

GUYS! THERE IS DRAGON FABRIC AT JOANN! EPIC DRAGON FABRIC AT JOANN!

XD
Idk what I'm gonna make, but I'm thinking I should get at least 3 yards...

Derpy waddles over and clings to your leg. "Pwetty pwease? Just a taste?" He looks up at you with his best "sad puppy" face.

Panda 08-22-2019 10:38 PM

I would like a cup of sweet tea, please~

trystan830 08-22-2019 10:50 PM

and that fabric looks awesome, Kaderin!

Panda 08-23-2019 12:21 AM

Hey Trystan~! :D What are you up to?

trystan830 08-23-2019 01:18 AM

Panda 08-23-2019 01:31 AM

Awww, goodnight to you.

KittyBeary 08-23-2019 02:28 AM

Ooh didn't see the dragon fabric but that's amazing. ouo

And ffft Derpy. ;u;

Veshora 08-23-2019 03:50 AM

<- doesn't even know how much 3 yards is, but agrees the fabric looks amazing and you've got good thinking there

Kaderin Triste 08-23-2019 09:06 AM

3 yards is approximately 2.75 meters if that helps...

Skirt update: skirt has been fully ripped and pieces have also been all cut down to tge size I need. Skirt 2.0 sewing to commence tonight. Probably just sewing the panels together and maybe adding the lining, but saving the rest of the sewing/assembly for tomorrow.

Den 08-24-2019 07:21 PM

I'm going to try and get an apprenticeship at a local tattoo shop that will be opening soon.

Kaderin Triste 08-24-2019 07:29 PM

Oooohhh...that sounds interesting! You can do it!

Death by Mirrors 08-24-2019 08:37 PM

Great idea, wish you good luck!

Den 08-24-2019 08:40 PM

I've had suggestions to draw celtic and tribal stuff for samples of my work...

KittyBeary 08-24-2019 11:50 PM

That sounds like fun!! :3

Kaderin Triste 08-25-2019 01:57 AM

Shark skirt is almost done! (Again...lol)
Mainly just have to sew up the side seam and add the zipper. But will probably hem the lining material first just to keep it from fraying.
The pleats don't have quite as much overlap as I was hoping for, but I have an idea for what to do for the next skirt. XD

Death by Mirrors 08-25-2019 06:47 AM

You know good things come to those who [s]wait[/s] start over instead of being discouraged when stuff goes wrong. Understanding the basics of clothes construction already is a valuable skill, so I have no doubt you'll be rocking the most amazing skirts soon.

Kaderin Triste 08-25-2019 11:15 AM

I'm getting sew excited! (Teehee...see what I did there?)
I sewed the side of the skirt to...almost where the zipper will attach and then pinned in the zipper and tried it on and as long as I don't massively fuck up the zipper, it's gonna fit perfectly!
But had to run out the door to work at that point so it'll be unfinished until later tonight.
Did take a pic with me holding the back together that I can share though (as soon as I get to a good wifi). It should actually look almost the same when done though maybe slightly higher waisted.

Kaderin Triste 08-25-2019 11:44 AM

Tada! My almost, sans zipper, completed skirt!

Death by Mirrors 08-25-2019 12:25 PM

Absolutely sharktacular ^^

trystan830 08-25-2019 12:43 PM

oh that's awesome!

Kaderin Triste 08-25-2019 02:19 PM

*Jaws theme intensifies*
Lol

Thank you! I'm pretty excited to actually wear it, which may not be until Thursday just with how much of a hot mess my work schedules are right now...

Den 08-25-2019 08:37 PM

That looks awesome!

Kaderin Triste 08-26-2019 02:14 PM

Zipper has been installed! I may have to do a tiny bit if hand stitching just to touch up one small area and it looks pretty rough in a lot of spots, but it is fully done and wearable!

trystan830 08-26-2019 02:39 PM

oh yaay!

i have a soft drapy fabric that i want to make into a pair of comfy elasticized-waist pants, but i have to measure my inseam so make sure i actually have enough fabric. but, well, i'm kinda lazy about everything these days, including my yarn

edit, after my light bulb came on~ actually i have a pair of pants that are already the length i like, so i'll just measure those...

Kaderin Triste 08-26-2019 02:54 PM

Kinda relate to those lazy feels. I have been reading a bit more, but haven't really done much crafting lately beyond the skirt, which should have been a 2-3 day project at most, but from start to end took about a week and a half.
XD

trystan830 08-26-2019 03:00 PM

yeah, that sounds like what my pants would be. i wonder where my elastic is... LOL

Death by Mirrors 08-26-2019 03:51 PM

I have been somewhat busy crafting, since I participate in an advent calendar swap this year and thus need to start early (one of the projects is Snowman Tealight). And also planning to take my crochet stuff to Italy when I go there with my family on Wednesday.

Kaderin Triste 08-26-2019 06:44 PM

Awww. That's both adorable and also slightly creepy at the same time! 10/10 best snowman!

trystan830 08-26-2019 06:55 PM

well that's creative, Death!

and i always take my crochet with me when i go mostly anywhere

I love it!! :D

Kaderin Triste 08-26-2019 09:01 PM

Thanks! I kinda wish the shark fabric was just a tiny bit closer in color and also that there was a little more overlap (so, more Jaws, slightly less shark), but overall, am pretty happy with the results.
