ooh, that's a really neat feature. i sort of wish they had that in the newer phones, y'know, without having to jailbreak them.

IKR?! Recording a ringtone is not the same as doing the work to program note by note.

yeah. that's what we've told her.

i despise apple for doing that sort of shit and making shit basically unrepairable w/o a load of expenses.

She should switch to an Android powered phone. I've got a Samsung Galaxy S7, and it's honestly been such a great phone that I'm gonna get another Samsung when it's time for an upgrade.

custom ringtones would be fuckin nice, y'know? and i don't like the thought of having to download either an external program and giving it access to whatever just to have a decent ringtone that isn't one of the normal ones, or jailbreaking a phone, in which it's probably easy to fuck up and potentially lock yourself out of it.

i keep my phone on silent nowadays anyways, kind of for safety concerns.

yeah, thing is, she's got a lot of photos and such on there, plus facetime is free between iphones. i personally have a Galaxy S5, which is pretty alright. it's not super high-powered, but it does the job well enough.

it's kind of a pain in the ass, tbph. I have fond memories of all the weekends I spent programming ringtones note by note from sheet music. it might've seemed nuts to other people, but it was a good mental exercise for me.

whatever keeps you sane, y'know?

speaking of programming, i've been meaning to get back to work on that Wilson ukagaka that i've got somewhere, but i don't want to look at old art, thus making me do a shell update, which locks me into a loop of wanting it to look perfect and locks me into anxiety hell.

on the other hand, i've also been planning to make an Ordis ukagaka (ordis is from warframe), but then i'd be expected to maintain the damn thing.

(the benefit of the don't starve community is that it's smaller.)

I don't understand much of what you said, Void. but if it makes you happy, and it's not hurting anyone, then have at it.

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 07:27 PM

ukagakas are basically little desktop buddies. before you ask, no, they're not shimeji, those things are much more different and don't have menus or variables relating to things.

there's a whole english community on discord if you want to get into that sort of thing.

i've made about two of them? haven't gotten them onto this laptop just yet out of both laziness and not wanting old artwork up on-screen, but i can't do a shell revamp on either of them.

Den 09-18-2019 07:28 PM

...I have no idea what a shimeji is either.

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 07:29 PM

shimejis are little characters that walk around on your computer and can probably duplicate themselves. i've no intentions of making one of those, sounds like way too much work, i say, as i fuck around with intervals in the whole ukagaka thing.

Den 09-18-2019 07:32 PM

ah. Okay, so they're basically desktop tribbles.

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 07:34 PM

pretty much! the main difference between shimeji and ukagaka is the fact that ukagaka usually have a menu.

Death by Mirrors 09-18-2019 07:35 PM

LMAO desktop tribbles
...I want one

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 07:39 PM

i mean, if you want, i can probably find something that you'd like?

there's not a lot of english ukagakas around, though. like, twenty at the most, i think?

KittyBeary 09-18-2019 07:40 PM

I haven't played with shimejis in a while. ;u;
