...Looking at that yarn gives me flashbacks to when I was a new knitter and bought "eyelash" and another novelty-type yarn. I quickly learned I couldn't really work with it (Mostly visual knitter here. I can't just zone out and mindlessly knit while watching TV or CritRole, unfortunately), and I banished it to the darkest corners of my stash.

trystan830 11-29-2019 05:39 PM

make a pom-pom scarf with that yarn?

i have some yarn i still have to make into socks.... i'm finishing up my final crochet hollyday gift, then back to stuffs for me. :)

Mekatra 11-29-2019 08:13 PM

I have to put off craft spending for a bit so I can get proper snow tires. Being a responsible adult sucks.

trystan830 11-29-2019 08:18 PM

yeah, adulting isn't fun sometimes

Mekatra 11-29-2019 08:23 PM

Sliding off the road into the river or off a cliff isn't fun either though, so alas.

I shall scope out the yarn section of the walmart tomorrow. We have to go to town to get the tires.

trystan830 11-29-2019 08:25 PM

there ya go.... buying tires and a recon mission :)

Mekatra 11-29-2019 08:35 PM

On the plus side, this is a once in 3-5 year purchase.

Does cooking count as a craft? i have to make taco pie tomorrow.

trystan830 11-29-2019 08:36 PM

that's true.

sure, cooking can be a craft - that sounds yummy!

Mekatra 11-29-2019 08:39 PM

I want to make a cream cheese pumpking roll too, but I have never made a swiss roll before and I am scared of screwing it up.

trystan830 11-29-2019 08:46 PM

i'm sure you'll be fine. :)

Mekatra 11-29-2019 08:50 PM

Well if the highest level string witch says I'll be fine, I have no choice but to believe it.

trystan830 11-29-2019 09:00 PM

that's string witchery... not all that much with the baking.

but - sometimes the dish comes out looking different/messier than intended, and it still tastes awesome, so there is that. :)

Mekatra 11-29-2019 09:07 PM

So long as it is cooked all the way through, it will taste good. I hope.

So if you could have any yarn in the world to work with, price irrelevant, what would you choose?

trystan830 11-29-2019 09:19 PM

ooooh, i think a nice soft madeline tosh.... you?

Mekatra 11-29-2019 09:25 PM

I really wanna try working with the wool from icelandic sheep. Preferably I would like the roving so I could spin it instead of the finished yarn.

trystan830 11-29-2019 09:26 PM

ooh that sounds cool too

Mekatra 11-29-2019 09:33 PM

Someday I want to get a full fleece.

trystan830 11-29-2019 09:35 PM

oh cool.

i don't. XD

Mekatra 11-29-2019 09:37 PM

That's fair, spinning is hella labor intensive and most people don't ever want to have to do all that nonsense.

trystan830 11-29-2019 09:40 PM

true true.

it might be fun to dye yarn though.... but i want to use the yarn that i already have for my projects before i get more. XD

(famous last words, right?)

Mekatra 11-29-2019 09:42 PM

Bahaha... wait were you being serious?

trystan830 11-29-2019 09:56 PM

erm..... maybe? XD

Death by Mirrors 11-30-2019 03:49 AM

Ah yeah, that makes perfect sense, thank you Mekatra! You're right, it would suck big time if my item was falling apart - especially considering my first try will probably take a lot of effort to figure out the basics, whereas later works can be done quicker.

And good joke, trystan... absolutely made my day XD

Mekatra 11-30-2019 03:24 PM

It takes a bit of practice to get used to it. The work is pretty tedious, but meditative after a while.

Most don't, but some do. *waves* I'm more familiar with drop spindles than wheels, personally.

KittyBeary 12-01-2019 12:12 AM

I have Frozen 2 fat quarters and dunno what to make with them ;_; Maybe some bows.

Derpy McBlueEyes 12-01-2019 12:13 AM

"Make me skirts! Pweeeaaaase?" Derpy clings to your leg.

trystan830 12-01-2019 01:20 AM

I'm thinking of tackling this year's Holiday pattern from Frankie Brown.

trystan830 12-01-2019 04:57 PM

I'm an absolute mess with a wheel. I get it going too fast and my drafting goes all wonky and shlubby.

Kitalpha Hart 12-02-2019 11:59 PM

Pfft yeah that's mom with yarn
She has yarn from Iceland

trystan830 12-03-2019 11:29 AM

i've bought yarn from Pittsburgh and ordered it from Utah.... but i don't know where it was actually made.... hmm... now i'll have to look when i get home.
