And by from Iceland I mean she was in iceland and got yarn that locals had made

trystan830 12-03-2019 01:28 PM

that is totally awesome!

i guess my most exotic yarn that i was there when i got it was Pittsburgh. it's all the way on the other side of PA from me. XD

Kitalpha Hart 12-03-2019 01:58 PM

She had to get a suitcase just for the yarn
She got something like 80 skeins
I may be exaggerating the number but all I know is that she had to get a whole frickin suitcase for yarn
On a trip of Europe that was full of family history stuff
Mom plz

trystan830 12-03-2019 02:07 PM

that sounds awesome, actually.

but that's just me. XD

Kitalpha Hart 12-03-2019 02:40 PM

We have no room

trystan830 12-03-2019 02:57 PM

Can I say I love her already?:p-grin:

Kitalpha Hart 12-04-2019 04:14 AM

She is currently in the process of taking over the spare room with her yarn
She has that much
Fortunately except for the Iceland stuff it's all free game

Kaderin Triste 12-04-2019 02:02 PM

I can't decide if I'm more jealous of the spare room or all that yarn...
>.>

Kitalpha Hart 12-04-2019 02:31 PM

Keep in mind that all four bedrooms are just shy of 10'x12' and starting five feet up on two walls the roof starts so they slope
Oh and each bedroom has 1-2 outlets, and one will be two prong. Three have one small window. Spare has two
Mom has one room, I have a second, the third is the spare slash guest room and the fourth is storage. Books, genealogy, my plushies because I don't have rook in my room, and lots of bins
Don't ask about closets it's renovated schoolhouse so they don't exist

Derpy McBlueEyes 12-04-2019 03:15 PM

*shrug* Any spare room is more spare room than I have. I have....an approx 10'x12' bedroom, approx same size living room and an approx 6'x3' closet, which is where I store the tubs containing about 1/2 of my yarn.

Kitalpha Hart 12-05-2019 04:24 AM

Hey move in and have negative space
But so much yarn

And yes the spare room has been used for long-term people before

Kaderin Triste 12-05-2019 04:26 AM

Pack up, Derpy! We're going to go live in the house of yarn!
XD

Death by Mirrors 12-05-2019 04:37 AM

House of yarn, we're coming!

(uh...just tell your mom you're throwing a christmas party or something)

Kitalpha Hart 12-05-2019 05:08 AM

Mom will prolly insist on rent, but if the previous tenants are any indication, it won't be much ($50/week) and she won't always remember
Comes with food, internet, laundry, etc etc etc etc
You will need a license and a car tho, just to get anywhere

KittyBeary 12-05-2019 07:47 AM

Oh yay, I'll bring my yarn to this house of yarn! 8D

daikokunyo 12-05-2019 09:14 AM

so instead of a gingerbread house for this season's festivities, we're having a house of yarn? I LIKE THIS INNOVATION :f-squee:

Kitalpha Hart 12-05-2019 09:20 AM

Yarn party lol

daikokunyo 12-05-2019 09:46 AM

ooo cool avi Kit

Kitalpha Hart 12-05-2019 09:51 AM

Thanks ovo

daikokunyo 12-05-2019 11:12 AM

what's that bow you're wearing called?

Kaderin Triste 12-05-2019 11:17 AM

I mean....that's like 2/5 of my current rent. The only issue would be getting a car. Lol

Wooo yarn party!

Kitalpha Hart 12-06-2019 04:12 AM

The bow is from Woodland Archer

Yeah, so that's gonna be the thing to offset the low price.

Kaderin Triste 12-06-2019 04:15 AM

Well...getting a job might also be tricky. Lol.
Though I mostly get around okay without a car currently so unless you live in the country (or some suburb more than 2 miles away from stores) I'd probably be fine.
Lol

Kitalpha Hart 12-06-2019 04:36 AM

It takes about 15-2p minutes of driving to get to town, depending on the route taken
I live next to a cow farm
And also what was a pig farm until a fire happened and they decided to switch to all crops

Kaderin Triste 12-06-2019 04:43 AM

I'm guessing that's more at highway speeds than city limits speeds, so based on clues, I'd guess you live about 15-20ish miles outside of town. Which is just a little far to walk. Theoretically in decent weather, riding bike would be manageable, but possibly scary depending on how busy/crazy the road is.

Kitalpha Hart 12-06-2019 05:21 AM

Yeah, 55. Depending on the road some are 45

Well right now there's snow on the ground cuz hey winter so that's no bueno

The lake (theme park) is not quite an 8 mile round trip and that's about five minutes. Ten on a concert night when you're lucky. Half hour plus if you aren't. And good luck getting out if your shift ends at the same time as the concert
Thankfully it's seasonal

You're gonna hit a main road no matter what tho, and the sidewalks don't start until you're well into town

Den 12-09-2019 09:49 AM

ngl, I'm kinda hoping that I get a drop spindle and fiber to spin as a Christmas gift from my boyfriend's parents.

trystan830 12-09-2019 11:21 AM

so hubby was wondering out loud what to get me for the hollydays. i said "yarn?" and he kinda went "hmm"... but honestly, that still means he has no idea what to get me.

Kitalpha Hart 12-09-2019 11:23 AM

I think mom would love yarn
Or shirts talking about yarn

In the meantime I'm being screamed at by my cat
She wants attention

trystan830 12-09-2019 11:30 AM

maybe i'll just tell him a gift card or something that can buy yarn works too. :)

Kaderin Triste 12-09-2019 11:35 AM

I keep hoping people will get me yarn (or chainmail/scalemail supplies), but it never happens. At best I'll get an Amazon gift card and something cat themed. Like a mug or a coat hook or something...

trystan830 12-09-2019 11:39 AM

yeah, i hear you. last year was the first time in quite a few years i got something on my xmas list that i actually asked for. (that's another story in itself) - i got one of those Visa gift cards, and used it at my Michael's. yaay!

Kaderin Triste 12-09-2019 11:55 AM

If I even get an Amazon gift card this year (I feel like my dad might be all "well you've been too busy to talk to me so you don't get a present"), I'll probably put it towards something useful. Like a little portable washing machine or maybe a new chair for the living room so I can get rid of the bulky, second-hand arm chairs and open up the space more.

trystan830 12-09-2019 12:01 PM

yikes about your dad!

i wouldn't put an amazon card on my list - only a visa gift card. and that's probably the only thing i'll have on my list, actually. IF we do gift exchanges for xmas. i doubt we will.

Kaderin Triste 12-09-2019 12:03 PM

Yeah....he's always like that.

Tbh, I'd prefer literally any other gift card to Amazon because I prefer to shop locally whenever possible, but he ALWAYS does amazon gift cards.

trystan830 12-09-2019 12:12 PM

weird. and weird.

and i understand shopping local too. :D

Kaderin Triste 12-09-2019 12:20 PM

*shrug*
It's like the whole thanksgiving text thing he sent to my siblings and I asking why his daughter-in-law was the only one to wish him a happy Thanksgiving. He likes to guilt us for not talking to him, but when we (or at least I anyway) talk to him it's all trying to guilt trip me about everything. Like...I'm an adult, let me live my life and stop criticizing every little thing.

trystan830 12-09-2019 12:43 PM

yeah... i don't think i'd be replying to any of those texts if i'd gotten them... O_o

Kitalpha Hart 12-09-2019 01:07 PM

I don't like your dad
