Curly edges sound kin of cute.
We did matching award scrolls for a couple and I was really tired when doin the second one so I put her name on both of them....had to start all over on the second one. Thank goodness I did the calligraphy before hubs did the illumination. |
I don't know that it's any cuter, it's just more round than flat. Edges curlng on a scarf tend to curl all the way in until they meet or just have a big amount that they curl in depending on the yarn used and the size of the project, so it gives kind of a tube scarf illusion without actually being a tube scarf.
Oh no! That's a lot of work to have to start over! |
I think it still sounds cute, but my mental image is abstract...
It wasn't super bad. Luckily this award wasn't super wordy, it only took about an hour to redo it. If it ad bee a really verbose award I might have cried. Some of the awards have word counts pushing 500. |

So this is not my project, just something similar I found online, but basically this is what is happening on one side of the scarf. The edges are curling/rolling on one side of the fabric. |
It looks cozier than the average scarf somehow. I know in theory it isn't, it just looks like it would be.
|
Actually, it would be a little cozier because the rolled edges would kind of give the scarf a second layer and it would be a bit squishier.
We'll see how I feel about it when it's done. But tbh, I'll probably be too lazy to block it, based on past experience. XD |
Yarn everywhere!

Mom has 30-odd banker boxes, about 50 more of those cloth storage cubes, and who knows how much loose stuff hanging around for yarn
You have a while before you get to mom's collection |
I don't have the space for that much of a stash. My apartment is only approx 650 square feet in total and I need storage that the cats can't get into. I'll stick with my 6 huge rubbermaid tote boxes, army trunk, 2 smaller trunks, 1/2 of a dresser drawer, 2 small-ish drawers, and bottom shelves of my bookcase.
(Which is where all that yarn has fit into once it was sorted and put away again.) |
Yeah don't get to mom's level
It's insane |
I don't plan to. My goal for this year is to stash bust some.
And no buying yarn unless it's for a custom order and absolutely is a yarn that I don't have. Actually, I tried the no buying yarn tbing last year and mostly did okay at it. Except for some clearance yarns...and a few others that I used my rewards coupons at Joann on... But I think I only maybe brought in 20-30ish new yarns! And a few of those really were for a custom order! |
i have some yarn that's in twisted hanks that i need to ball up and then make into socks. :)
|
Do it! Go make pretty socks!
|
...i'm working on it :P
|
Yay!
Kinda wish I was at home right now because I have a lot of projects I want to be working on at the moment. Hopefully the motivation doesn't disappear between now and when I get home. XD |
hopefully!!
i have a pic of the yarn that i'll post once i get it started. but first, it's dinner time 'round here. |
Ooh, what's for dinner?
And yes, yarn pics! |
cheeseburgers and mashed potatoes!
and of course. :) |
Ah, that sounds really good actually....I should pick up some veggie burgers on the way home. And cheese. And buns...
XD |
hehe....
actually, i have a shawl i want to finish first, before i start the socks. but i promise i'll post a pic of both.... soon. |
Yeah....I have a lot of projects I should be finishing...
But I just found an adorable pattern for a rainbow barfing cat, which I assume can be made as a scarf or just for silly decor that I kinda want to make... |
that sounds like a cute pattern! linkie?
|
It is pretty funny.

i love it! =^..^=
|
Haha, that's a funny one indeed! I like it ^^

My paternal grandma and my late great-grandma make slippers and hats with scrap yarn
Great-grandma couldn't move much, but hoo when she was knitting she was going so quickly at it all you really saw was yarn becoming slipper |
Ooh, so I was watching a crochet channel one day (because I was big into Wish yarn reviews mainly) and she was making what looked like a pretty intricate pattern. WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING!
I don't even trust myself to do that with loom knitting and I've been doing it for 9 years! |
yeah, most crocheting i still have to look at so i know where to put my hook! but if i'm making granny squares, i can feel the space the hook goes in, so i don't necessarily have to look... but that's it. ;)
|
Mom does a split watch for smaller things
If she's doing a multi-strand Afghan, she puts more attention on the yarn |
certain patterns, I can knit without looking. but those're super basic patterns.
|
Wooo! I made a crown today! And finished a scarf...and put the spine on a dragon!
Could probably have gotten a bit more done, but I also slept in and was kind of easily distracted from the crafts a bit. |
Aww, can't wait to see. :3
|
|
Been folding origami hearts to stick in a box going out at some point in the next week or so.
|
I can see making the kitty face a tuxedo or even a tabby, actually bought loom knit items so I could conceivably make one. Yay rainbow barf kitty!
|
Yes! Rainbow Barf Kitty inspires people to loom knit! Best project ever. Lol
I may start making one soon. Need to clear a loom first though, which means picking an unfinished shawl to work on this week. I'll probably finish the dragonfly lace one since I think it's closer to being done. And is a faster pattern to work. |
Ooh, dragonfly lace, sounds pretty!
|
It's really pretty. This is the first one I made.

I see how it got the name of dragonfly! One or two places where a color diverges and makes it look like a dragonfly body amid the wings, too. Like right in the center, where an off white appears between the 'wings'.
|
I made a leash for someone with some pretty scrap yarns! And then they asked for another one in red! So I agreed. Because instead of $5, I'll have $10! Lol
Was gonna charge more, but she's providing the clap bits for them and I'm just using my scrap yarns anyway so the only real charge would be the time spent actually making them and that would be a fairly pricy leash if I actually charged for my time accurately. (Though I should have charged a bit more than I am...) |
