Yeah those colors make me think of dragonflies too. They're very nice! :D

I'm working on a couple of dolls... At least one will become a Twi'lek. I'm toying with the idea of dyeing the doll to make sure the joints don't lose color. I need to get some more Model Magic, as that'll help to make the cores of the lekku, if not the main structure. If not that, then I'll figure out the best way to make the lekku out of fabric.

Kaderin Triste 01-31-2020 08:52 PM

...one of these days I need to buy fabric to go with all the patterns I keep buying...

KittyBeary 01-31-2020 11:03 PM

Eh gad I recently found out I sewed the zipper to Kairi's KH3 dress too high so I had to remove it and I have to re-add it. xux

Kitalpha Hart 02-01-2020 08:45 AM

Oooof
One of the cosplays I have planned uses a zipper. I've never worked with zippers, so it'll be new for me

Mekatra 02-02-2020 02:14 AM

Zippers are so much easier than gussets. Just make sure you measure a few times before you cut anything.

I finished the illumination on my first scroll I am doing entirely by myself. Normally my husband does the illumination and I do the calligraphy.

trystan830 02-04-2020 08:09 PM

i finished a shawl. i call this a Morpho Shawl, like the Morpho Butterfly

https://images4-g.ravelrycache.com/u...00_medium2.jpg

onto a pair of socks now....

Kaderin Triste 02-04-2020 08:13 PM

That is absolutely gorgeous!
Someday I wanna make something that pretty!

trystan830 02-04-2020 08:17 PM

thanks Kaderin!

you can do it!

Kaderin Triste 02-04-2020 08:20 PM

Weeellll...based on most loom knit patterns....no I can't.
Patterns for really pretty shawls are hard to come by. And are a bit expensive. Though I may celebrate my raise by buying another e-book from a pattern creator on Ravelry if I decide on one I like. I think she has 3 or 4 shawl pattern compilations, but I usually love only 1 patter per book.
XD

trystan830 02-04-2020 08:21 PM

ah, i gotcha.

or... you could learn to crochet? come on over and i'll teach you. :)

Kaderin Triste 02-04-2020 08:29 PM

How about you come over here? XP

Would love to learn crochet. If only to make cute amigurimi stuff. Like knock-off pokemon. And kitties.
XD

Also, I will say that I do have a few shawl patterns that actually are really pretty, but I just haven't had the time to make them yet.
Mainly this one:
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/bath-cotillion
Was gonna make it for a friend as a wedding shawl, but didn't have the time. And then ended up losing that friendship afterall...

trystan830 02-04-2020 08:31 PM

hmm.... roadtrip! i'll be there in.... uh... where are you again? XD

and ooooh that IS pretty!

Kaderin Triste 02-04-2020 08:35 PM

Montana.
It's probably a bit of a trip from where you live.
XD

It's incredibly rare for anyone to actually live within 1-2 states (or fewer than 10 hours away by car)from me. Glitch, surprisingly, is actually fairly close to me...though without knowing exact location I don't know exactly how close, but I think I estimated on the moderate to high side being only around 5-6 hours away by car.

trystan830 02-04-2020 08:37 PM

5-6 hours is about how long it takes to get across PA - my younger daughter goes to school out in Pittsburgh, and i'm near Philly!

ok, so, i'll be there in about a week! XD

Kaderin Triste 02-04-2020 08:42 PM

Yes! Perfect timing.
XD

I...honestly don't know how long it takes to get across Montana tbh. But a lot of the area is open space and highways so....even though it's one of the biggest states, it's probably surprisingly quick compared to smaller, but more densely populated areas.
What I do know is that from where I live, to Denver, CO is about a 12-13 hour drive.

trystan830 02-04-2020 08:59 PM

LOL! i wish i had a week off to do that... but unfortunately, that's something i just don't have the money for. *sigh*

Kaderin Triste 02-04-2020 09:19 PM

Totally relatable.
I wish I had a week of to do...anything.
I'm frantically trying to do math to see if I can afford maybe 4 days off in June to visit my sibling in Denver tbh.
They asked if I wanted to go to Pride down there. Which...I kinda do, but kinda am bad with large crowds, especially large crowds of strangers. So idk for sure. But would be nice to visit the sib either way.
BUT I can either pay an estimated $450+ to fly, OR pay an estimated $170+ (round trip for the car rental if I keep it for the duration of the trip), not including gas, to drive. And if I'm lucky can make the trip down in one day. XP
And that doesn't include spending money. And possibly hotel/motel stay if I can't stay with the sib.

That's really pretty!! :3

I agree! That illumination is gorgeous!

and yay for visiting your sib! :)

also, check yer trades. nothing bad. :D

Kaderin Triste 02-04-2020 11:18 PM

Haha...yeah. Not sure if I can make the visit this year, but probably can next year for sure.

And omg, yay, thank you!
<3

trystan830 02-05-2020 12:23 AM

socks. i'm actually wearing them right now.

https://images4-g.ravelrycache.com/u...36_medium2.jpg

Kaderin Triste 02-10-2020 01:53 PM

I'm super jealous of you for having that yarn. XD
Those turned out really lovely.

...should paint my nails in Ravenclaw colors since that's the only thing I currently have a passable bronze in.

trystan830 02-10-2020 01:54 PM

the yarn was a total random find, tbh! it's actually called "Ravenclue" because Ravenclaw/Harry Potter is kinda copywrited.... XD

Kaderin Triste 02-10-2020 02:01 PM

Those pesky copyrights anyway.
Ah, but that reminds me, I want to track down an old (maybe from the 70's to 80's) version of Clue so I can match yarns to the pieces for a Clue scarf!

Would prefer to have the pieces to match, but will settle for photos if I have to, though the colors with those are less reliable than having them in person.

trystan830 02-10-2020 02:03 PM

i know, right?

oooh, that sounds really cool!

Kaderin Triste 02-10-2020 02:04 PM

Was just gonna use the classic colors and do a fancy lace pattern, but just had the brilliant idea to do the classic colors but in the stitches make the classic murder weapons as patterns in the scarf.
8D

trystan830 02-10-2020 02:27 PM

oh that sounds awesome! i like the weapons as patterns in the scarf!

Kaderin Triste 02-10-2020 02:34 PM

Figuring out the stitch patterns will be a bit tricky for me, but it'll be pretty cool.

trystan830 02-10-2020 02:37 PM

yeah, there's always that part, isn't there?

Kaderin Triste 02-10-2020 02:51 PM

It's one of the reasons I generally shy away from making patterns...
But I have a lot of kind of mediocre yarns I can use to test the patterns.

trystan830 02-10-2020 03:18 PM

fair enough.

i've made designs in the fabric using filet crochet - like the center of my Geeky Heirloom blanket i'm working on. not really a blanket. more like one of those lacey bedspread kinda things...

Kaderin Triste 02-10-2020 03:56 PM

Eeeee....I love the firefly reference one! XD
You are way too talented and it makes me feel kinda bad that I'm such a slow crafter...but I try to battle the feelings of inferiority because our crafts are different and you've probably been crocheting longer than I have been looming so have more experience with how to make and modify patterns.

XP

But I'm gonna be brave and try to make new things this year. Maybe no real new patterns, but we'll see...

Kaderin Triste 02-10-2020 07:14 PM

On a different note, gonna try to finish a shawl tonight and, if I have time, work on/make Derpy's new skirt. Though I did goof on cutting the fabric, so there will be a bit more sewing involved than normal this time, which is kind of annoying, but also could make the whole thing easier if I decide to try something different with it... XP

aww, thanks!

don't worry how long it takes you to make something....it's yarn, not a race... :)
