Aha yes. XD I used to be a huge Kuro fan, and especially Grell. Though I am still a fan, I'm not as big of one as I used to be. :( But I had some fun times. XD (And might bring Grell back out someday lel)

yeah, for standard knitting or crochet, you would treat the scales like beads, and prestring them, then position them as you go...

I've never done it myself, but I've seen plenty of patterns that state that... and as for the scales, I'd imagine aluminum would be more durable.

I've used glow in the dark plastic scales for jewelry before. You have to be really trying to break them to be honest.

... I've managed to snap sewing needles in my bare hands. and broke one of my interchangeable knitting needle cables. I'm hard on my tools without meaning to be.

I use aluminum. I have seen people use plastic, but the aluminum just has a more authentic dragon appearance in my opinion. I have seen plastic ones used in other projects though.
And I did have a friend ask if I could do a purse with the plastic glow in the dark scales once. I never did make it though since the scales cost more than I could afford at the time plus, based on her previous reluctance to pay a reasonable price for a blanket, I figured she wouldn't want to pay for it.

I get all my scales and most of my chainmaille supplies from The Ring Lord
