What are the opinions of the new Cats trailer?

Well the screengrab I saw was scary as hell. Similar to the sonic trailer

They butchered my favorite musical. :(

Well, to me it looks like they tried too hard to surpass the original and in the end achieved nothing. Similar to the new Rocky Horror. Has a few perks, a few nice moments - but nowhere near the charme of what I've known before.

I think this might be an unpopular opinion...

I felt the Jennifer Hudson is "okay" for the role of Grizabella...
But I feel like her voice is a little too "powerhouse" to do that character justice. Jennifer Hudson's Grizabella sounds like she would have fought her way back into the Jellicle tribe a long time ago. She sounds too strong and not very vulnerable like the previous Grizabellas Elaine Page or Nicole S. (I can't spell her name lol)

Im not a fan of the CGI either. It doesn't look godawful to me, but they could have made it much better if they;d at least put some "cat like" make up on these actors! It would have been cheaper and it would have looked more visually pleasing.


I was watching the making of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and something that really stood out to me was when they said, "When doing a sequel or a reboot, you shouldn't think about 'how can I make this better', you should think, 'what did people like about the first one? and how can I incorporate that into the reboot?"

I feel like Cats tried too hard to be "better" than it's stage version, and by doing so, lost the charm that made people love Cats to begin with!

Why isn't Grizabella being played by an actually mature actress? Maybe someone like Ileana Douglass?
