Awww, just takes practice XP
Do they have an item request thread where I can draw an item and they'll pixel it to life if they like it enough? :O

I like it, the concept as well. Duchess was right about the light source, but that's quite easy to fix,
What I am missing however is the soft shading. Your method leans slightly to cell shading (like my signature art). Trisphee's style is very much soft shading.

Thank you and okie dokie. I'll try and fix that ^_^

I would really appreciate it! x3 as soon as I get some free time I'm going to try pixeling some things. :V I have pixeled a little but my pixeling style is more..cel shadey? I pixel things like game sprites and backgrounds (i use dithering sometimes haha) but that doesn't really translate. I think this is more like regular CGing but with the pencil tool? ;O Do you guys actually use smudge?

Of course I can. C: It's no problem. Well, when I draw CG art, it's cell shaded so pixeling in soft shade is different but it's not too hard to learn. If I can do it, I'm sure you can too. xD I only use the pencil tool when making the pixel outline and adding tiny details, then I use really small brushes (1pt-3pt) to do the shading. o3o When I first started, I used the smudge tool a lot, but now I don't. I find it easier and better for detailing to use a brush at like 70 Opacity instead. But that's also because I pixel like Silverbleed at regular size, most of the other artists expand their work and then shrink it back down. You should try different methods and find which works best for you. Like, I tried the blowing up and shrinking but it was like 10x harder for me than just working at regular size. owo

Silverbleed 04-04-2011 02:34 PM

Yup. And I also don't blow up my work because the details might get lost when shrinking it again. And I like detail <3
It's interesting to hear how other people use it. Because I don't use the opacity option either, I just draw at 100%. If I think it's too dark, I edit this later, by for example editing the layer's opacity.

Taiania 04-04-2011 03:30 PM

I'm sure it was someone here who told me about the blowing up then shrinking method and it's really improved things for me.
I really admire anyone who can get such amazing shading without a smudge brush ever going near it. I cant do that >.<

Ok, took some advice. Softened my shading and moved the light lol... Is this any better?

Someone has probably already said it but we could use some headgear here. It's not that bad but there's no balancing colors out at the top like we can with the rest of the body.

Alexander Linden 04-04-2011 11:06 PM

We did have that hat item contest in a previous event...
We do need more headgear though.

Ginger 04-04-2011 11:18 PM

Headgear, as in dental headgear?

..That would be freaky O.O

edit;; How about more items that wrap around the waist? Like maybe a simple belt with all of the different colors?

And maybe face paint, and new eyes?

As for the layout, what if there was some kind of a swirly decoration in the background? Or vines with leaves on them? I think that could make a big difference in drawing the eye.

Please put the actual item suggestions in the item suggestion thread =)

Is that an offer to do it Alex? =P

Alexander Linden 04-05-2011 03:48 PM

Chasm - An offer for what?

Kaguya 04-05-2011 05:01 PM

To make more head items. XD

Sei 04-05-2011 05:30 PM

I believe Alex is a character artist and designer, not a pixelist. ;3

Kaguya 04-05-2011 05:38 PM

I know Sei, I was playing.

I just realized if your in alex's head and I'm on yours, that makes me tiny.
