Matt suddenly grabbed Nate's hand and started pulling him towards the door.
"C'mon!" He said as he drug Nate out. "Matt, we're not done here!" Roger called- to no avail. |
"Wh-hey!" Nate called, stumbling after the redhead as he was tugged. "Why do they think Mello will freak out on you, anyway? Aren't you guys like... best friends or something!?"
"Hah!" Matt laughed forcefully. "He...tolerates me for the most part. He only likes me a little because I know my place."
The tore down the halls- this place was like a labyrinth. |
"Your place?" Nate asked in surprise, frowning. "What place is that?"
"Beneath him." Matt mumbled before stopping a door with more signs and stickers tacked to it then Nate had ever seen before.
Nate blinked at the door and looked at Matt. "You play Zelda!?"
"Are you kidding?" Matt laughed. "I've played every game twice! And Mario and Final Fantasy and Sonic and Kirby and even Earthbound! I taught you- er -Near how to play Kid Icarus."
"Oh gosh that game was so lame, but Pit was awesome in super-..." Nate paused, before clearing his throat. "Anyways... the... er... 'Matt' that I know had to research shit about games because he had played like, one video game in his life. About the only thing of yours that he bothered to pick up was smoking... and being a redhead."
"HUH!?" Matt gaped. "Are you kidding me!? That's the best they could do!? He's not even a natural redhead!?"
"Its rather hard to find natural redheaded actors," Nate admitted, shrugging. "At least, ones as tan as you are. Are you part Hispanic or something? Its kind of a turn on."
"I'm part- huh?" Matt blinked.
"Are you going to invite me in?" Nate asked, motioning to the still closed door in front of them.
"YES!" Matt blurted before fumbling with the doorknob.
He stumbled into his room after a moment. |
Nate slipped in and looked around, whistling in awe at all of the computers and gaming systems. "2005 seems so long ago, I forgot that this stuff was around back then."
"Huh?" Matt blinked- looking up at Nate. "It's 2003."
Nate blinked. "...They had computers in 2003!?"
"Not like these!" Matt said eagerly as he got up. "I modified all of this stuff, that's why it's so cluttered- I've been taking these things apart and adding to them for years now!"
He started moving around the room excitedly- pointing things out. In one corner of the dark room he had a large TV with several game consoles including a Dreamcast, a Nintendo 64 and an old school Play Station. |
Nate smiled weakly and silently wondered to himself what Matt would think when the PlayStation 3 came out.
He refused to stop to wonder why he cared. "Should I close the door?" He cut in after a moment. |
"And- huh?" Matt stopped and blinked. "Uh, yeah. That'll keep the light from outside from bothering me."
"The light?" Nate inquired, pulling the door shut. "Is that the reason for the goggles?"
"Yeah...kinda rare having an albinic, but TWO is amazing." Matt laughed as he pulled his goggles off.
"Heh, all we need is a third and it's a party," Nate chuckled, peering into the other's eyes.
Matt's eyes were such a pale blue that it was maybe a few shade from just being white. His pupils really stood out in such sharp contrast.
Slowly, the albino smiled. "You're really unique. I like it. Much different from how they portray you in the show..."
Frowning a little, he tore his eyes away. |
"...What?" Matt blinked. "Am I an asshole in the show or something?"
"I don't really know," Nate admitted after a few moments of silence. "You were in the script, but... when the posters came out and you were in them - or, well, the Mai... Matt that I know-" He corrected himself as he saw the other go tense. "-he was instantly popular amongst the fangirls and Light had him cut from the script. Now he's just sort of... a back up. I read the script, though... he has only a few lines and none of them are really that telling."
"...Wow, I got Jewed." Matt laughed and scratch the back of his head.
"Light cuts out anyone he doesn't like," Nate informed, sighing. "He killed off L because he got more attention... I'll probably wind up living. No one likes Near."
"What are you talking about?" Matt blinked before he frowned. "Near's like a superstar!"
The albino frowned. "...He's kind of a jerk. Like... really."
"He sounds like it if he's leaving me out." Matt nodded. "Why would anyone cut me out?"
"Jealousy, probably," Nate informed as he took a seat on the redhead's bed. "You don't use this much, do you?"
"I normally fall asleep at the desk." Matt laughed nervously.
Giving a sigh, Nate got up and moved over to the redhead, taking his hand and tugging him toward the bed. "Hey, relax! I'm not going to do anything weird... just lay down on your stomach."
"Uh...on the bed?" Matt blinked as laid down. "If it's too small you can have it."
"Shut up," Nate told him gently, before he slowly began to massage the gamer's shoulders. "My gosh, you are tense! Do you ever relax?"
Matt tensed up even more for a moment- his face burning.
"I- uhh...umm...I'm sitting around and...you know studying and crap all the time." Matt replied. "Working on my stuff...I'm an insomniac." He kinda rambled on for a little bit. |
"Do they really make you work that much?" Nate asked, moving his hands a little lower.
"Guh- I have to keep up...even being third place, right?" Matt's eyes shot wide and his voice was going out of pitch every few words now. "I mean...it kinda sucks here if you don't keep it in the top three...sucks here anyway, but it gets worse."
"Sucks how?" Nate asked, pressing a little harder to try and work out some of the tension. "The script didn't really say anything about Wammy's. Just that Mello left at 15."
He stopped instantly, realizing he said something he shouldn't have. |
