I did tarot and the crystals in that shop i worked in. Still do them for friends and family. It's intuition based, since you only get the card's name and you work from the picture. You'll start off with a basic set of interpretations and then, as you gain more confidence, you'll get more accurate and start hitting on things. Don't worry if you blurt out something to somebody that has nothing to do with the meaning given to you by the book(let); that's when your intuition comes into play and the cards come alive ;)
You'll find different decks have different structures and meanings. I own two full decks of the original Mythic Tarot deck; the second came to me via a friend, they hadn't been well looked after and needed more than a little TLC. Right as rain now though and they work just as well as the deck i bought :D I'll pass the second deck on when i find someone who needs them. It'll probably be family or a close friend though. |
^_^ I have a few decks. I like to collect them. I have a truth seeker deck, a deck from the 1800's, a deck from the 1960's, a necromicon deck, a manga deck and my working deck that I can't remember the name of lol.
Jenjen has a rider thwait (or something) deck that she uses. :D I have a set of oracle cards I made too :) |

The Rider Waite deck. It's the one that all modern ones are now based off of, for the structure. It has traditional christian artwork, usually. I've seen a couple with less conventional designs. Oracle cards are mainly cheating in my opinion; the meaning's written on most versions :)
I don't collect them simply because of something that happened when i was younger; i made a strong connection with an Egyptian themed deck owned by the mother of a friend, to the extent where within five minutes i was barely looking at the book. When i offered to buy it she refused to sell it even though she had no interest in them beyond collecting decks. I try not to have them if i won't use them. . . . I wanna pick up my cards now :D |

The Shadows and Light is COMPLETELY you, Tai. I made a connection with them instantly. I never use my Manga Deck, or my Vampire Deck, because I don't really have that strong of a link to them. I can understand that. I collect pretty art too so it links in with that. It's a shame you couldn't have the deck you linked in with.
