Starting a new knit of a pattern I did a modified version of for practice. This one is gonna follow the pattern to the letter, except for the needle size and the yarn used... might also add some length to things... It's for a friend.

Started making my first chainmail dragon. Am about 3/4 done with the body segment minus scales, which are added at the very end. Kind of want to work on it more today, but should work on finishing a plushie dragon instead since, if I finish it tonight, I can bring it in tomorrow with some of my others to possibly go in the museum's gift shop. And it just needs the easy finish parts of spine, wings, and eyes.

Kaderin Triste 03-10-2020 07:27 PM

Rawr! Have a mostly finished dragon!

rawr! that's adorable!

Kaderin Triste 03-10-2020 07:50 PM

I still need to figure out eyes, though I have a small jumpring size that may work, and also add scales down the back and the tail.

trystan830 03-10-2020 08:38 PM

you'll figure it out, i'm sure.

Kaderin Triste 03-10-2020 08:56 PM

The pattern calls for 10mm donut beads, which I do not have and I'm 90% sure we don't have at JoAnn, but I think I can make a small mobius with some rings that will work.

Kitalpha Hart 03-10-2020 10:28 PM

Looking good so far

trystan830 03-10-2020 11:09 PM

i googled donut beads, and i don't think i've seen them at michael's either. of course, you can order some from amazon!

Kaderin Triste 03-10-2020 11:14 PM

I prefer supporting a smaller business when possible so if I get any, it'll be from theringlord.com probably.
Or maybe firemountaingems.com

Also, thanks Kit! I keep seeing all the flaws in it and start feeling like it's not that good, but it's really not that bad for a first sttempt. Like, I wouldn't sell it without replacing the scratched rings, but I could make it into a cute accessory/companion for myself.

trystan830 03-10-2020 11:52 PM

supporting small businesses is a good thing too, and it's awesome when they have exactly what you're looking for as well!

I've been following the journey of the Traveling Afghans project, and adding each block's pattern to my master pattern for it. Once all the patterns have been released, I'll start in on making one for myself.

Hey guys. I bought an iPad for drawing. Would you wanna see my stuff if I felt like sharing?

Den 04-01-2020 12:27 AM

I finished my dust mask.

MonBon 04-01-2020 12:58 AM

I love it!

bouncing between working on a drawing and spinning more yarn.

Kitalpha Hart 04-01-2020 10:45 PM

I'm playing ACNH a lot

Den 04-03-2020 11:39 PM

Kitalpha Hart 04-04-2020 02:58 AM

Got a new game
Well, new for me
Game itself is old
The controls are wonky, and I know I'm gonna die. And I'm on easy difficulty and have only gotten through the tutorials :')

MonBon 04-04-2020 03:35 AM

There is nothing on this channel yet, but I've set up a youtube channel for when I start drawing and stuff. It's basically my hobby blog: https://tinyurl.com/CinnaMonBon

masks... so many masks...

Kaderin Triste 04-06-2020 05:33 PM

Recently remembered a project I wanted to figure out how to make on the loom. Am currently making basic pattern to get an idea of dimensions/how it will fit and then figure out how to modify it from there. And add scales.

Even though I don't want to, I may need to make it as a flat piece and then seam it just to make figuring the dimensions easier.

In case anyone's curious, it's this. I want to figure out how to make this with loom knitting:
https://gabbinggeek2.files.wordpress...78118_d60f.jpg

I have a connected scarf and armwarmer pattern that should work for the base, but I need to test the size and figure out any potential increases and decreases for basic shaping and to make full sleeves instead of the flat "scarf" panel the original pattern has.
As much as I'd like to be able to make my version in the round as well, I'll probably have to make it as a flat panel and then seam it to make the sleeves, which hopefully I can seam it along the scale edge so it's not super visible, but we'll see.

Tldr; I wanna make this cool thing and I have an idea on how I'm gonna do it too.

Kitalpha Hart 04-06-2020 06:18 PM

Don't you have to put the scales on as you weave?

Kaderin Triste 04-06-2020 08:23 PM

As I knit, yes. But I already know how to donthat as I have done fingerless gloves like that before. I just am not 100% sure anout garment shaping and all that yet.

Kitalpha Hart 04-06-2020 09:42 PM

Ooh

Den 04-06-2020 09:44 PM

Test out the knitting part first. trial and error and all that.

Kaderin Triste 04-06-2020 09:59 PM

Yeah, in my long rambly pist, I did say I was already testing the knit part if it.

Den 04-07-2020 06:43 PM

ah, sorry, missed that part. once my back stops being as much of a jerk, I'm gonna be working on more masks. I've got the fabric ironed out.

MonBon 04-07-2020 08:21 PM

That looks so cool Kad! best of luck

May I ask what pattern you're using and how you are liking it? I don't have sewing experience and am now trying to learn. So I'm looking up several options to experiment with for making my own mask.

Den 04-08-2020 09:25 AM

I modified a pattern I found online for a three-piece mask into a two-piece mask. The original pattern doesn't print at full size on my home printer, so I had to redraw it, but it was worth it. it covers my nose and mouth nicely, and it covers the majority of the lower half of my face. I just need to swap my original hair ties for some ribbon, because after an hour or so, the hair ties get really uncomfortable, especially when I have to be outside or if I'm shopping somewhere for essentials.

Kaderin Triste 04-13-2020 03:16 PM

Am probably gonna finish my initial test pattern for the base of the scale shrug thingy today. Woo!
Then to figure out how to modify it for better sleeves (which I actually may have found a semi-helpful video which may give me a good idea on what to do...) and THEN figure out the addition of scales.

Also need to test adding scales with a couple of different stitch patterns just to see how it works out.

First video is up: https://youtu.be/YBdDy7uAtjk

Den 04-16-2020 07:23 PM

Just finished watching "Good Omens". And have ordered a paperback copy of it. which won't get here until next month.

Kaderin Triste 04-26-2020 08:50 PM

Started making an entrelac scarf today only to discover that the videos I was following along with just sort of stop. Without covering how to do a specific edge section. As in, at the end of the 4th video, it very much sounds like a fifth (and possibly more) video was going to be made to continue teaching the pattern, but there's nothing to be found.
And the last video was uploaded in 2016, so I'm not really hopeful that there will be any updates with the pattern/instructions at this point. XP

This is as far as the videos got me.

I think I know what to do next, but am a little worried about messing it all up.

MonBon 04-27-2020 09:30 PM

Looks nice kad.

I drew a thing:
