I'm working on art of one of my newest D&D Characters, Rhysa. Rhysa is (currently) a female Verdan Celestial Warlock. The thing with Verdans are that they mutate as they get older, because they were originally goblins that got touched by Chaos/Change, making them into an entirely new race. She's currently 4'0", and looks pretty gobbo-like, but she's gonna grow and change once she hits level 5. I've got a portrait of her as she is now, and she's friggin' adorable, but what I'm working on now is her next stage. She could change sex, but I haven't decided on if I want to do that or if I want to keep her as a female.

I did the six fanarts challenge. Hoping to do another but at the same time I only got three known requests (and one where I only heard of the character and so turned down) the first time around so my hopes aren't high

Cute kit ^^ Thanks for sharing

Can we see the portrait, Den? :o

That's awesome trys! are you going to dye or color it later? Or is this the final form?

trystan830 05-03-2020 03:46 PM

thanks MonBon! this is it's final form, white and creamy offwhite. :)

MonBon 05-03-2020 09:24 PM

Gotcha, looks cool! I see lots of fandoms in there haha

trystan830 05-03-2020 11:08 PM

thanks!

here's my list of what's in there:

first row: 42 & Mice; Smaug (2 panels); Millenium Falcon
second row: K9; Bill Cypher; Firefly; Labyrinth Worm
third row: Dread Pirate Roberts; “It’s Not Knit”; Cthulhu; Mystery Science Theatre 3000
fourth row: Jack Skellington, Pi, Supernatural, Ravenclaw

so i guess 13 out of the 15 are fandoms? XD

been working on learning Norwegian on Memrise... it's going okay.

MonBon 05-09-2020 12:39 AM

Good luck Den!

Den 05-31-2020 05:55 AM

working on stuff for my Etsy shop...

Den 07-07-2020 10:22 PM

o.o it's been quiet here for awhile... I got four ounces of wool that I'm working my way through... one ounce of four separate sheep breeds' wool... and I'm kinda wishing I'd gotten more than one ounce of the current wool (Norwegian), 'cause it's spinning up really nicely on my drop spindle.

trystan830 07-07-2020 10:24 PM

i'm making a few masks for me, and a blanket for a charity :)

Kaderin Triste 07-08-2020 02:53 PM

I have absolutely not been inspired to craft at all. But need to make some masks for myself at some point this week. And also should finish a couple of plushies.

And also I started working on/making up a loom knit checker set. Because one of my supervisors at the museum was all "you should make some, they'd sell!" And like...maybe they would on Etsy, but with the 30%/70% commission of selling in the gift shop, I'd have to adjust my price a good amount if I want to get my full amount on anything so no one's gonna spend THAT much on it really.
Of course idk if I actually want to get into making those because it's not really my kind of project and if I make a few, she's gonna want me to make more and I don't really want to be treated like a toy factory and forced to churn out whatever she wants just because she thinks it'll sell.
🙄

Like...just because I've got a few plushies in the gift shop, doesn't mean I want to make only kids stuff. I also make some beautiful shawls and blankets....

Den 07-08-2020 06:16 PM

I made 99 masks for my boyfriend's mom's company awhile back, and I've made a few for friends and myself... debating about offering knitted plushies to my shop as well.

it's a thing non-crafters say when they really like your work, but are clueless about the rest of it. like: as a rule, i only make one thing from a pattern. after that i'm done with it.

when i first started crocheting, a few people wanted me to make them a dragon from a pattern that i'd made. it was cute and all, but by the 4th one i was so done with it. if it's not fun, i'm not doing it.

Kaderin Triste 07-08-2020 08:16 PM

Supposedly she crochets (though I have yet to see any of her work), but I suspect she jist doesn't want to make it so she's trying to get me to make one instead.
I'll probably just make it and sell it on Etsy instead.

Ngl, I still want one of those dragons...
>.>
But if someone else make one similar/the same as it, I can always get one from them.

But I can understand pattern/project burnout. For me, I've discovered that I can to a pattern any number of times, but as soon as it becomes a commission order, I will drag my feet on it and it's not fun anymore. I can still make the pattern again, but commissions take me way longer than just making a normal pattern would because that particular one isn't fun.

trystan830 07-08-2020 08:28 PM

oh this was a smaller dragon. the one you want is kinda big. :)

maybe suggest to your supervisor about having an etsy shop together and see what she says to that XD

Kaderin Triste 07-08-2020 08:32 PM

Ohhhh.. I mean, I probably want the smaller one too. I want all the dragons.

And fuck that. She can have her own etsy shop. She can collaborate for gift shop items if she wants, but my items are for my etsy and mine alone.
XD
Technically my Etsies, plural. I'll eventually have Derpy & Co for adventuring companions (plushies) and Shade Creations for jewelry, shawls, and everything else.

Den 07-09-2020 07:13 PM

I got a new row counter today! it's a digital one (I have a manual one, but it's with another project) that is meant to be worn as a ring on the index finger.

heheh

yeah, i get that too... a friend of mine keeps saying we should go into an etsy shop together, but i kept telling her i'd think about it. she's stopped asking. XD

oooh cool, Den. I've seen those, but i use paper, pencil and hashmarks when i need too... XD

Kaderin Triste 07-09-2020 08:11 PM

Ah, I bought one of those a while ago! They're nice, but I keep forgetting to use mine. I also generally just tally on paper if I need to keep track of rows/repeats.

Den 07-10-2020 03:10 AM

It's been dead useful for plushie knitting for me. Especially ones where I have a bunch of parts to knit up. And I even managed to get a blue one :3

I do enough charted patterns and patterns where I have to pay attention to the row number to justify spending the $5 I spent on it. I doubt I'd need it for anything that I have fully memorized, but most of my stuff that I knit? I don't have fully memorized. Plushies are one of those things where I need to follow the pattern at this point, but hopefully after I finish the Mighty Nein plushies, I'll have the base body pattern down pat.

Hey guys? I started a webcomic. Based on Stardew Valley. Even if you aren't a fan of the game, maybe read it? Is just the first page >.<"

Kaderin Triste 07-16-2020 02:35 PM

Nice! I know very little about Stardew Valley (it's a game and from the couple short gameplay clips I saw years ago, the style of it reminds me of Harvest Moon and Rune Factory. That's it. That's what I know about it), so idk how much I'll actually keep up with the comic, but

Kitalpha Hart 07-16-2020 03:05 PM

I do intend on taking some artistic liberties with some things, if only to translate gameplay into comic format a but more easily

But I'm hoping that even those who don't play Stardew can enjoy it

I will say though, Stardew is not at all hesitant to show off darker moments fully. Some of the most recent HM/SoS ones will take the darker moments and lighten them up so they aren't really, uh, bad. Or have a permanent effect on the NPCs

Kaderin Triste 07-16-2020 05:49 PM

I can only speak for me, but the main reason I generally don't read comics based on a specific series/game is because often there are specific references or subplots that rely heavily on said series/game and so I generally miss out on a lot of references or have those "I don't get it" moments. *shrug*

However, I don't want to make it sound like making the comic is a bad thing. If you share more of it later on, I'd probably still check it out, I just wouldn't probably actively seek it out on my own.

Kitalpha Hart 07-16-2020 06:51 PM

I'm hoping I don't cause that problem
Like Star's stamina will probably increase over time, rather than any time she gets a stardrop like in the game
And anything that has potential to be confusing I'll try and remember to mention in the commentary

KittyBeary 07-16-2020 10:30 PM

I started making masks, as well. :0 Only a few for now though. ;-;

Den 07-17-2020 03:49 AM

>.> I made a super tiny lucet... tiny as in it's barely an inch from the base of the handle to the tip of the tines... I'm gonna use it to make tiny braids.

Yay! A fee is better than none really.
I keep buying fabric for masks, but never quite get around to actually making them. ;>.>
Maybe this weekend though.

trystan830 07-17-2020 03:46 PM

i got some fun fabrics from JoAnn's to make masks. i posted some pics on my Instagram, i should post the rest. and more is coming from etsy. XD

i'm also crocheting a Plague Doctor. i'll post a pic when i'm done. did i post my COVID-19 or my LiMu Emu here? i don't remember....

Kitalpha Hart 07-17-2020 07:55 PM

Ooh, plague doctor?

trystan830 07-17-2020 09:19 PM

yep, he's almost done!

trystan830 07-17-2020 11:10 PM

Begone, foul virus!

Biomecha 07-18-2020 12:25 AM

I've gotten a few fun prints for masks, too. But can't seem to get the tension right on the sewing machine to actually finish one.

The Plague Doctor is the cutest thing ever.

trystan830 07-18-2020 01:01 AM

thanks!

I've actually been stitching my masks by hand.
