Bleah. I have been so un-crafty this last month. x nx

Then today I go and do four paintings....

Kaderin Triste 01-02-2018 03:40 AM

Well, I mean this last month WAS kind of taking a break from crafts (or rushing to finish presents) so it's fine that you were uncrafty...

Damies 01-02-2018 04:02 AM

I've been really listless and unmotivated to do anything really. I think my seasonal depression is rearing it's ugly head. But I am optimistic about the new painting hobby I am taking up. xP

Yay! New hobby sparking interest and fighting the winter blues!
I've kind of been the same (which is why I STILL haven't finished a couple Christmas presents and why it took me until the last possible week to finish a fox that should have done by thanksgiving...) but have some new projects I want to make if I can get my current orders done quickly...
XP
Might have to turn down orders for a while until I am better prepared...

GET YER STUFF DONE! DO THE THINGS! Magical Motivation GOOOOOO!

Kaderin Triste 01-02-2018 05:07 AM

Lol. I wish that actually worked.
I will be freeing up my loom that I need tomorrow (just have one leg and 4 or 5 rows on the elephant body I'm working on), then I can start on a fox.

My main items on my craft list for Tuesday are: Finish elephant body, get fox colors out and ready, place stitch markers on pegs for skirt.
And possibly start work on the fox, but only if it's not too late since I have a (super) early shift Wednesday. Seriously, I have to be up no later than 5:30am so I can get there on time.

Happy late new years! Does anyone have advice for someone who might want to start quilting this year?

Mekatra 01-02-2018 03:54 PM

What kind of quilting are you thinking about doing? I've made a couple (they were terrible according to my grandmother lol) My aunt also runs a quilt shop so I can ask her for advice if you have any specific questions.

I want to make a nice warm blanket for myself and my GF, and we have some old spare clothes and other things we don't need. So i guess patch quilt/

Mekatra 01-02-2018 07:53 PM

Are you planning on tying it or do you have access to someone that can quilt it for you?

So something like a 9 patch would be fairly easy. Do you have a sewing machine available?

-Sephiroth- 01-02-2018 08:07 PM

I have a sewing machine, and I have yarm that I can use to tie.

Mekatra 01-02-2018 08:43 PM

I would probably suggest a simple 9 patch to start with.

Thank you!!

Just gonna throw out there if you plan on working with any stretchy materials like t-shirts you're going to want to invest in some decent interfacing.

Interfacing is going to be your friend.
