Wait, what? Who on earth said that? o.o Quote:
Also: What do you think is a good price for Japan items? Especially the kitsune and samurai since I want those two the most. :3 |
It's not the newbies' fault that items are becoming rarer; it's that the older users who have the limited edition items are either going on indefinite hiatuses or quitting and they're not putting the items back out on the market before doing so. There are also the insane hoarder types that buy up a lot of those items, swearing from here to Toamna that they're going to start a charity or shop later, and then never do so.
Shop owners like Nommy are also a problem, buying up items in bulk and then, as I said before, hoarding them. The difference is that this type of user does put the items back on the market, but they take advantage of the increased rarity on the market from them buying and hoarding them. Using that as a tool, they charge insane amounts for these supposedly rare items, of which they may have dozens, thus artificially inflating the value of these items that very well may not have been so rare had they not disrupted the marketplace. Even worse, though, are the users who will buy the items for those astronomical prices, knowing full well that, eventually, there will be more on the market from some other person eventually. They promote these high prices, saying to other potential sellers that it's okay to charge that much, and even encouraging it with their "OMG RARE ITEM MUST HAVE!!!" attitude. Therefore, do not simply blame the newbies for the sorry state of the market. If anyone is to be blamed, it is the ones who have caused the marketplace to fall into such despair. Blame the ones who buy high and sell low. Blame the ones who hoard simply for the sake of having things. Blame the ones who simply can't say no to a sale. Then, once you've done that, take some time to consider the deals you make. Are you paying too much? Do you really want it? Can you get it for a lower price elsewhere? Can you live without those pixels if it's going to cost you that much? Do you really need that many of those pixels? I do not apologize for my rant, as my points are valid. If you have found offence with my rant, please refer to my signature. I am not a nice person. I will not sugar-coat my attitude to spare your feelings. If you don't like my opinion on the matter, you don't have to take my advice. Thank you, my fellow Trisphites, and good day. |
Very well said, Reyo. :3
Now, what is this story of samuel that Nikko mentioned? :0 |
Ah, the tale of Samuel. Gather 'round, kiddos, as I tell you the story of the downfall of the Marketplace.
It began around February of last year. Samuel, the main character of our tale, ran the leading authority of price guides here on our beloved Trisphee. In fact, his was the only price guide anyone ever used, for it was the only one around. The problem, you see, arose when his business practices started to become... less than reputable. You see, when sales were reported to him, he would pick and choose the sales he would calculate into his guide. The sales for items bought over the high-end of his guide were always included, but items sold for less were ignored. In this way, he raised the prices. Additionally, he would scour the Marketplace, buying up any and all RDIs that could be found. For an extremely short while, he had small giveaways with these items. However, most of them he would hoard, and they were never seen again. In this way, he also increased prices. The way he was finally stopped, however, was most curious. You see, he had created several alternate accounts. These accounts he used to Role-Play amongst themselves, having them use the same gigantic walls of text over and over, to earn huge amounts of aurum and event currency. Once he was caught in this, he was permanently banned from all of Trisphee. You may be wondering what happened to the items, though. Well, the items are still there. They are locked away on his account, never to be unleashed again... unless, of course, there were a raffle... but that is a story for another time. |
That was a lovely horror story of the downfall of the market.

Yeah, Nikko and I are probably the only ones who are okay with recanting it like that.

How long are the event threads going to be allowed to stay active?
|
Maybe till the end of the week or till voting is all done. I am the manry-est of men! |
Ahhhs. I was simply wondering because I remembered this is an event thread. Lols.

Well that is up to staff. I am the manry-est of men! |
There was a raffle during the User Appreciation Event last year. The prizes ranged from a couple thousand aurum to Runes and old DIs and Beta items like an Anka Set. There were tickets sold during the event for 250 aurum each and 2 runes each. There were also 10-packs of tickets sold for 2.5k each and 20 runes each. Most of the items were taken from banned accounts.
As Nikko said, though, any future raffles would occur only at the behest of Senior Staff like Fen, Suze, and possibly Ashy... but I wouldn't bother them about it. Wouldn't want to risk angering them. |
No need to have angry staffers at us. I am the manry-est of men! |
Angry staff is never a good idea.
