Yeah, I usually see him up by the Thalmor place up near Solitude in the late night/early morning hours. I followed him up until just past Rorikstead where one of the dragon burial sites is, and that's when Alduin showed up and raised a dragon for me to fight.

Ducky 01-08-2012 09:34 PM

The headless horseman has no real purpose, from what I've read. He's just there to intrigue people and make them think he may be something important/interesting.

Quiet Man Cometh 01-10-2012 05:56 AM

No doubt the Skyrim programmers having fun again. ;)

Not really. Tougher monsters and tougher dragons show up as you progress but generally speaking most monsters stay as they are. Personally I like that about the elder scrolls games. Fun to be able to mop the floor with an ebemy that used to be deadly to a character. :D

Stuff generally won't go out of it's way to kill you in most Elder Scrolls games, but it's not terribly forgiving if you decide to be dumb and attack that giant at level 2.

There is debate about whether or not the result of giant clubbings is a glitch or not. ;)

Reyoki 01-10-2012 11:18 AM

XD I stupidly attacked a Giant at level 2! Then I started spazzing out whenever I saw them and ran away.

Quiet Man Cometh 01-11-2012 12:31 AM

I remember I sat on my horse and waited for a giant to move off the path so I could keep going. I was heading to Riverwood from Whiterun and the giant was a little too close to the pathway by the river and the other side was too mountainous to get anywhere. Didn't know at the time that horses can swim. ;). I'd have gone around but there was another giant off to the right. -.-

Did get around him eventually though, and yes, I do know about fast travel, I just would rather run around myself. :)

Ducky 01-11-2012 12:50 AM

If enemies don't scale, and i can easily kill everything at level 35, surely there is next to no challenge at level 81? o.O admittedly i have pretty good armour and weapons for my level, but still..

Quiet Man Cometh 01-11-2012 04:19 AM

Not everyone cares about that sort of challenge. I'm often the type that likes to over power my character so that I have an easy time in the battles. I care more about the exploration part then how tough one guy is to beat.

Ducky 01-11-2012 04:24 AM

But isn't the challenge of fighting your way into a place and getting a reward part of the exploration? The rewards you get also go towards making you more able to fight and explore. you may as well go no-clip and just fly around and see things.

anyway, I'll shut up now and accept other people play games for different reasons Dx

Quiet Man Cometh 01-11-2012 05:01 AM

Hhe. Fighting is one challenge, puzzles are another. Personally, I take an easy fight to be a challenge in itself. If a fight turns out to be too difficult for my tastes, I know I need to do better and spruce myself up.

I'm something of a game hoarder too, so when I find cool items I stash them. I consider that reward as well. It's really all relative. I do agree with you though that once you get high enough you lose some of the challenge in the combat respect.

There's certainly nothing wrong with hearing other opinions. I find it interesting because it's not something I would necessarily think of myself.

Ducky 01-11-2012 06:18 PM

for me an RPG type game is all about the process of growing strong and better, being able to go places which were impossible previously. Exploration through your own achievements. I'll cheat on other games, but never on an RPG.

Quiet Man Cometh 01-12-2012 09:42 AM

I did cheat on some games but I've put a stop to that because I just find that I enjoy the game less, and also find that I tend to be a poor player as well since the cheats make things easy. I nearly finished the old Warcraft 2 when I was 12 or so, got to the second to last scenario. Alas, I started playing around with the cheats too much and stopped putting much strategy into the game. I wasn't as good a player after that.

I use game guides for some things, like looking up how to kill bosses because I can't be bothered with them, or to find out why something appears to not be working right (found the odd snag in some games that way) but on the whole I try to avoid it now.

The most I've done on Skyrim is turn the difficultly down one step for one fight that was incredibly frustrating, after looking it up online and not finding any suitable tips or helps except more comments on how annoying the fight was.

LadyCopperFoxx 01-12-2012 02:01 PM

The only "cheat" that I used was running around a huge table firing magic at a boss to keep myself alive. He just ran around the table after me and apparently didn't figure out you could shoot magic across it.
But that's more like the bucket-head game play mechanic than a real cheat.
Lolz... bucket heads.

Quiet Man Cometh 01-13-2012 07:21 PM

Can't say I've heard that term before, but it does sound like something I'd do. ;)

I'm all for cheeky fighting tactics if it means the battle is over quicker. My Skyrim character is much more straigth forward than my Morrowind character when it comes to combat, but I'll still shoot a guy with an arrow and run away if I think I can get away with it. :D.

My friend is a mage, and routinely lights himself on fire and just runs at everyone in the room while simulatanously healing himself. Good trick.

Ducky 01-14-2012 04:51 AM

I have a mage who deals mainly in duel wielding fire. nothing even gets close enough to harm me, unless it's a dragon. See enemy, hold down both mouse buttons, enemy dies. It was overpowered right from the start.

My opinion exactly.

Finding all the elves for the elder scroll is freaking hard! xP

Also: I am definitely a hoarder/collector. I wish the game was Treasure collector friendly! I only have breezehome at this point. I kinda want something awesome like that flying museum in Pokemon 2000. That's a complete fantasy of course xD

things I wish to collect: weapons, armor, books, clothes

Reyoki 01-14-2012 02:22 PM

I collected enchanted weapons and armor up to a point. That is, until I realized I could disenchant them, take their abilities, and enchant other weapons and armor to sell for bookoo gold.

For fighting, my main character is a mage, and I usually have her wield ice and shock. I have the perk that freezes my enemy solid once I get their health low enough, and the frostbite spell slows them down anyway. I think the only thing that gives me problems is when dragons won't land and I have to use the ranged spells. My aim... isn't that great.

There is a cave south of Solitude and west of Marcath (is that how you spell it?) Called liars retreat, in there is a bunch of dalmers and dead elves (or alive) that you can collect blood from. All but high elf I think.. Or atmer? Sometimes you don't find the dark elf.. But that's a good location.

Quiet Man Cometh 01-14-2012 11:51 PM

One of my sister's just got Skyrim. Seems the two of us managed to create similar characters with the same skill trees, except she uses maces. I like my axes. :)

Ducky 01-22-2012 01:02 PM

If you're into metal, you may appreciate this.

Oh, I'd have that on my iPod! That's cool!

Ducky 01-22-2012 05:16 PM

I do have it on my iPod xD

Quiet Man Cometh 01-23-2012 10:39 PM

Did you have to download it? That makes me wonder if it's possible to nab the game soundtrack from somewhere. I like the music in a number of games. They tend not to be regularly sold though, unless it's through promotions or special edition versions.

Ducky 01-23-2012 10:52 PM

I have quite a lot of game soundtracks downloaded. You just have to be ready for unofficial, probably illegal, copies. Though, i think the Skyrim collectors thingy may have had a disk?

Quiet Man Cometh 01-23-2012 11:17 PM

Not sure, I'm just guessing at it. Well, there's always the wait 10 years option and then Bethesda may put it on their website to download. I'm patient. ;). In the meantime, I'll just have to play the game more. :D

Ducky 01-23-2012 11:43 PM

i have actually replaced one of the audio files with the download of that song from youtube. So i have it in the game <3

Renata 01-24-2012 01:29 AM

Lol nice that's awesome.

Belial 01-09-2013 05:50 PM

Rumor has it that the new DLC, Dragonborn, will have a price drop for the PS3 and the PC due to how long the wait has been.

http://www.idigitaltimes.com/article...dragonborn.htm

Another rumor is that the next DLC is titled "Redguard"

Twigg 02-13-2014 08:37 PM

Bloop. So I just ordered a PS3 today (I'm so with the times, you guys, lololol) and the person I got it from is including Skyrim. I've never played it before, and I was wondering what you all thought of it, and what I should expect. Before this, I've only ever played games like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. c:

Also, I know it is a series of sorts, so would I be confused jumping into this game with no knowledge of the previous games?

Fauxreal 02-17-2014 07:17 PM

I'm replaying this game! <3

Twigg 02-17-2014 09:08 PM

Okay so I did some quick looking around, and is the whole game in first person view???

Alpha 02-19-2014 01:03 PM

It can be done from third person as well, at least that's what I've gathered (never played it).

Ashy 02-19-2014 09:22 PM

if youre on a ps3, click the left analog stick and you go to third person
