@ml Sucks dosn't it.
Been awake for hours but still not got out of bed as I just cant get warm for some random reason. Normally I never even feel cold. |
*Does a jig*
I don't have class till 1:30 so I slept in :D |
oooh spoilt! what are you studying HIM?
Im studying for Graphic Design :D Although I do wanna do character design but that will have to come later
@Kara
Well, I had tried to go back to sleep, then about ten minutes later Scooter woke up and wanted outside so I had to take him out. x'D And I got a text while at work that the meeting is now being held tomorrow in the morning on my day off. .-. @Him Oh, that sounds fun! XD I did a graphic design class in high school but probably not nearly as in depth as your class. :3 |
Ooh I never had a art class but not a GD class that's neat. I have a wide range of classes from studio to coding to illustration, etc.
Neat HIM. Think I'm going to drop out of uni and demand my money back they've not been helpful with my disabilitys. In fact they've made my invisable illness worse. Really not happy with them a few freinds are helping me draft up a letter of complaint and we're going to the Education secuatary about their treatment of disabledstudents.
I take it that its not a public college, or rather a state run college? If it were a state ran one they probably wouldn't be doing that to you.
@ Kara That's terrible, but I don't think you should drop out. It's really hard in this day and age to get a job without a college degree. Maybe transfer to another University that will better serve your disability?
Either way, I would first get it in writing what the college has done/done wrong.
The education sysyem over here on Englang works a little eiffrent speacily with distance based learning. I'm in a distance based Univeristy (Open University) and quite franlly they treat students like crap never mind ones with extra needs. I got a studnt loan to pay for the course that I'll have to pay back at somepoint butif I push the correct buttons I should see it stoped and the money back to the grant system. Going to see about doing an actual university but as I'm cronicly shy (social phobic) it may be a bit much and make times of distress more so prevelent.
Ah...yeah, the online/distance learning (took a class or two like that last year for similar reasons) puts all the pressure on you (very little feedback). But, if you can get your money back, that would be great.
I don't know about the universities over there, but here some campuses allow college students to use/notify college police if they need to feel secure. |
That sucks Kara. :/ I honestly don't know what to tell you since I live in the US, but I personally am trying to avoid online classes for that reason. ^^; Not to mention I'm easily distracted by interwebs. >>; How come it seems like England might be a bit behind on these things compared to where I'm at? Or at least with the state/county run colleges? And why do online classes have to give out like five times more work than an actual class? >.< (never actually does her homework for her class because its not collected/graded but does good most of the time anyways with 85+ grades).
@ Kara Oh I see. Sorry to hear that, I hope you can work something out.
@ml The reason why online classes give out more work because since you'll never meet. Also they can assignment a homework for maybe what? For a whole week? And that gives you time to do it. |
I wouldn't call England and all behind - more different education systems have different values and types of acculturation (teaching values/behavior of one's culture). For example, they seem to have a better objective understanding of history than over here, and that Karastorm can do something like get her money back or take online classes that count for something - those are good points. (Here, most places don't accept online learning - which is bad for those with social phobia, and you'd have to sue a school to get your money back)
But, we are better in mathematics here than in Europe (and worse than Japan, who has a higher stress-health issues rate) |
Your right Lawton my degree from the ou is par for par with one from a building if not regarded higer as it is done in your own free time showing dedication to education. The mathmatics I cant coment on as you all know maths isn't a strong point of mine.
Ah, I didn't know that. So there's some things they are ahead of us in regards to and some things we're ahead of them in regards to. And I agree about the history thing, after the trail of tears the Native Americans are never mentioned again, like they all died off or something, but they are still around. The education system just seems to completely ignore the fact that they are still around and that they have had protests held by them against the government and everything. Like when they finally got the rights to fish in their area for food the fishing companies tried to sue them saying they were loosing business with how much fishing a small region of Native Americans were doing fishing at. Like really? You're a big ass company that can probably feed the country twice over and you're complaining about a town full of people trying to feed themselves? How much more selfish and stupid can you get? >.< They won't have much of an impact on the fish population as you do with you're freaking ships! The Native Americans practiced conservation LONG before you were even thought of, even before your freakin ships were though of!
It seems history is is more about appropriation of another culture's achievements and then mostly the destruction of others in the name of conquest. The education system here disgusts me on so many different levels I can't even begin to articulate my frustration for fear of ranting and then giving myself a headache.
Ethnocentrism - the tendency for members of a culture to focus on and promote their culture's values (and one's own views) as better. Often responsible for obscuring and biasing history/culture.
History is toughtnpretty well here but thats as we have thousdands of years to learn. America is still reltivly new in tearms.of age being about I belive 400ish years old if that I know europe really started conolizing in the 17th centuary you have less to learn but its still a rich background you should try to learn. Hell I bet no one tells you vikings found the land mass but simply traded with the locals and went on thier way. What a world we'd live in if thet conlozised upon the americas.
Pretty much Law you hit the hammer right on the nail.
@Kara Vikings are cool |
Or if China had of kept going along the African coast and made more colonies they probably would have eventually taken over the world because they had a better navel fleet at the time. :P
XD its how England ended up owning most of the world at one point we had a epic Navi. Still hope every ones pretty goid today.
I'm getting sleepy because I had to get up early. x'D
Bleh I hate my brain today cried my self to slee as I was having a bad day yesterday, had all of four hours sleep and cant get back. Invisable illness sucks!
*Hugs Karastorm and gives warm noodle soup*
Yeah...much of the world is still somewhat bitter towards Europe/European ex-colonies (America, Canada, Australia) for that...with reason... |
*noms the noodle soup* Thanks Law. I could do with some good pain killers as my ruddy hip is playing up again almost collasped three times last night getting home. Hate when its sore.
Any one got a bucket list if places they want to visit before they shuffel off the mortal coil? |
The Face of Mars
Titan (Saturn's Moon) The Moon Pluto Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Syria, Cambodia, Egypt, Ireland, Antarctica, Canada, Sweden, Brazil, Chile, Greece, Israel, Turkey, Mexico... (I doubt I'll ever see any of these countries/places) |
Doubt Titan will happen or mars in our life time ( where its afordabl to travel to them that is). The rest could happen you just never know where life will throw you.
I want to visit Paris at some point and England too. I'd like to go to Japan for the cherry blossom viewing but..I am terribly allergic to cherry blossoms :c
I'd like to visit Japan, China, India, Egypt, and I think Canada. I think there are a few other places but I can't remember off the top of my head. x'D
I want to live in Canada actually.
I'd like to visit or live in New zeland it looks so pretty.
AH! That was the other one New Zealand! I'd love to take pictures of that place, the open landscapes in particular! ♥
New Zealand sounds cool too, but isn't it always cold there? Not that it matters to me because I live further up north in the US. It's actually snowing right now.
That's why I'd go during the summer when its the warmest. x'D I get cold too easily any other time. x'D
Speaking of which, I'm getting a bit sick :c I have congested coughs.
Poor Him! *hugs* Would you like some benadryl or sudifed? (I probably spelled both of those wrong x'D)
Hello everyone, how are you?
I'm so emotional right now, my aunt is causing trouble for me. She is saying that I owe my cousin money when in reality my cousin owes me $700 dollars for her current car, which I loaned her $1,000 in total because her car broke down and had no money for a new one. Really don't need this stress while pregnant. |
Maybe you can ask your cousin to explain the situation to her for you or is it because your cousin said something to her that she's saying this?
