Maybe the senate chamber as an arena? I don't know, I'm not really into Star Wars, but I'm sure they could have come up with *something*. :p

Anyway, there's been a lot of speculation today of Aeon Calcos' human form. He's a Spartan in his profile, so people are thinking he might have a fighting style along those lines. There ought to be an official announcement soon, one way or the way.

Serra Britt 11-06-2011 12:14 AM

Well, shield and spear would be a nice change from what's available, right?

Suzerain of Sheol 11-06-2011 12:19 AM

Yeah, definitely. Though I still would like to see just a spear, a la the Lance style your customs could use in SC3. So many concepts I could never make in 4 with the removal of that weapon.

There's also been some murmurs about one of Sieg's old mercenary companions who could possibly be in, and she's pictured with a regular old bastard sword. That's another style I'd love to see, in contrast to the fun-but-ridiculous anime swords Sieg and Nightmare wield.

Serra Britt 11-06-2011 12:32 AM

Like a more standard sword style? That doesn't involve 6 foot long swords or dancing around with the one handed swords? -stares at Xiangua and...the guy with a falchion who's name I forget-

Suzerain of Sheol 11-06-2011 10:07 AM

Yun-Seong? I hate him so much. His attitude drives me insane, and the way he gets used online is just... infuriating. He's possibly the best character for insulting your opponent with, given his personality. Doesn't help that I have some kind of mental block and suddenly regress to helpless button-mashing when someone picks him. :p

But, yeah, a standard European longsword style would be much appreciated by me, especially if it was based off of actual techniques rather than Hollywood hack-and-slash. :p

The english dubs drive me insane. it's so god awful annoying and doesn't match the characters

Suzerain of Sheol 11-06-2011 03:03 PM

I liked it when they had Crispin Freeman for Siegfried in 3... then they had him do Raphael in 4 for some reason, which I didn't like him as at all.

Serra Britt 11-06-2011 05:44 PM

Crispin Freeman would be good for Sieg in my opinion, because he's an excellent voice actor. I can't imagine him as Raphael myself...

Suzerain of Sheol 11-06-2011 09:33 PM

Yeah, he does the tortured antihero thing really well. I'd love it if they brought him back. My favorite performance of his (probably one of his more minor roles) is as Shogou Amakusa in Rurouni Kenshin.

Serra Britt 11-06-2011 09:58 PM

I loved him as Zelgadis in Slayers. And I watched Haruhi Suzumiya solely because he was a voice actor for the main character.

So, I'm starting to get really good with Sieg now on 4. Wow, he has a high learning curve. It's all about flowing between his stances and using his kicks. Those big wind-ups are nice, but it's the little hits that really let him shine. I love the foot stomp. :D

Well, she/her, really, since I'm playing my CaS who looks like my current avatar.

Serra Britt 11-06-2011 10:44 PM

Sieg/Nightmare was my best is SC2 because of the quick little hits. It was probably just because my primary opponents always thought of Sieg as a slow, lumbering character.

Suzerain of Sheol 11-06-2011 10:50 PM

Well, I think a lot of people (at least me, for the longest time. :p) tend to play him that way. And it just doesn't work, plus it's an injustice to the intricacy of his style. He's not a brute, but a master swordsman. Needs to be given the respect he deserves. :p

I'll be so upset if he's changed significantly in 5. :p

Serra Britt 11-06-2011 11:03 PM

Well, in Soul Blade he WAS a brute. At least his quick hits weren't very useful with the exception of a couple kicks. Plus he was very OP with the Soulblade (IE, three hits could kill). He's not really my favorite character but he's close.

Suzerain of Sheol 11-06-2011 11:21 PM

Yeah, I suppose his style has evolved over the years. A lot of his more brutal moves went over to Nightmare when they split, too.

Also, it just occurred to me in a fight that, for that enormous sword, Sieg's range is actually really short and he has a hard time closing. He's best when he's right in the opponent's face putting the pressure on. Again, not something that's obvious when you first pick him up.

At least, I think so. I could be wrong, but I just won 12 fights in a row online with him, so I think I more or less know how to use him in 4. :p

Serra Britt 11-06-2011 11:57 PM

I wish I could play the newer ones to see if my skill would continue with him. Heh, maybe someday.

I've always enjoyed using him at least.
