trystan830 12-29-2016 01:14 AM

that makes sense too, Kaderin.

i use the 9mm eyes the most

Moonshadow 12-29-2016 01:16 AM

Wow! Wish we could all go craft shopping together.
We can start at one store and store hop! haha

trystan830 12-29-2016 01:18 AM

actually that would probably be dangerous, Moonshadow... but a lot of fun, too. XD

Moonshadow 12-29-2016 01:20 AM

nah...I'm the Momma I will keep us all safe. hahaha ohhhhhh you mean how much money we will spend? yeah, well you are right too dangerous.

trystan830 12-29-2016 01:22 AM

yep, all the money we'd spend. =)

but we'd have a great time, i'm sure.

what state to we all want to meet in?

Kaderin Triste 12-29-2016 01:23 AM

Trystan: Yeah. I use 10mm and 12mm slit pupil eyes. I just checked the site I order from and the most expensive ones are only 67 cents per pair. Not terrible.

Moon: If I had the money for a shopping spree that would be fantastic!

trystan830 12-29-2016 01:31 AM

plugging numbers into my calculator - using a 55% off coupon, it works out to about 30 cents per pair of 9mm eyes i use. and i'm usually going there for something else already, so i probably wouldn't factor in the gas in my car that i used. =)

Kaderin Triste 12-29-2016 01:33 AM

That's a really good deal. I am cursing my stores for not carrying the eyes I need.
:c

trystan830 12-29-2016 01:37 AM

well that's rude of your stores!

Kaderin Triste 12-29-2016 01:38 AM

That's what I thought too! But the odds of them having the slit-pupil eyes seem kind of slim anyway.

trystan830 12-29-2016 01:43 AM

yeah, i could see that. i use the solid black eyes, which are probably pretty common

Kaderin Triste 12-29-2016 01:46 AM

Ah. Yeah. Those would be pretty common.

trystan830 12-29-2016 11:30 AM

Kaderin! love the wings!

Glitch 12-29-2016 12:09 PM

derp just realized contest deadline passed. ok i'll get that done soon

Lee 12-29-2016 01:40 PM

A lot of stores will order things for you if you ask them to, especially if another one of their stores carries it. They'll even call and leave a message (or text or email; varies from store to store) when it gets in. So ask if they have it at all, and they'll order it for you. They'd rather keep you as a customer, especially if you're regular! This one craft store I used to frequent did it a lot. They kept them behind customer service on a shelf and it was always things they didn't have elsewhere in the store. Often, other people wanted it too, and never asked, so when they see it, they order it too. Get enough people asking, and it becomes a regular item.

No worries, Glitch. You've got a lot of things to juggle, and we're very patient.

Glitch 12-29-2016 01:51 PM

Alright is was super close but of all the strangers I asked to pick a winner Lee's got one more vote so Lee wins this coloring contest!

Kaderin Triste 12-29-2016 01:53 PM

Trystan: Thanks! They are one of the daily items from this event actually.
I started checking some of the items and discovered we had gotten wings. (I had forgotten.) And I LOOOOVVVE wings!

trystan830 12-29-2016 01:57 PM

that's pretty cool, Lee.

Michael's used to have a weird system - you could bulk order things we didn't have in the stores through a service they had, and a customer had to go into the store to have an employee place the bulk order. and then they changed their website so you can actually shop on it, and order whatever was on the site in however many quanities you need.

now, there are some people who haven't been in the store in many years, and they think you can still do bulk orders the old way or don't realise you can order items online, and that they can do it themselves.

there's also the people that don't understand the online site is a different creature than the stores. while the stores have quite a number of items that you can get online, there's also online only items as well as in-store only items.

so if a store has an ordering system like you describe, Lee, that's awesome!

and you're quite welcome, Kaderin! =)

Tiva 12-29-2016 01:57 PM

I like how you used them! I keep looking at them and making a face cause they never work for me.

Lee 12-29-2016 02:08 PM

Yay! I love my prize~

trystan830 12-29-2016 02:13 PM

congrats, Lee!

Kaderin Triste 12-29-2016 02:14 PM

Thanks Tiva. I started with the wings and basically constructed the avi around them.

Lee 12-29-2016 02:40 PM

Thank you! 8D

Congratulations, you have found the spirit of item showcase.

Kaderin Triste 12-29-2016 03:35 PM

Haha...unless I have something specific in mind for the avi, that's usually how I build them.

Lee 12-29-2016 03:40 PM

You're a natural.

Kaderin Triste 12-29-2016 03:44 PM

But only with simple avis...
I can't handle complex avis with more than about 3 colors usually.

Lee 12-29-2016 03:50 PM

That's actually very sound design planning. The more complicated your themes, the easier it is for all of them to get lost in each other.

Kaderin Triste 12-29-2016 03:56 PM

This is true.
I'm just so used to avi sites where if your avi is too simple in design, you can't win any contests or anything with it because complex layering is the preferred asthetic.
XD

Lee 12-29-2016 04:03 PM

There's a world of difference between simple design and simple layering! You have successfully straddled the divide between simple design and complex layering with your avatar.

Kaderin Triste 12-29-2016 04:18 PM

8O
Yay! I am getting good at avi design!

Moonshadow 12-29-2016 04:47 PM

Kad: you are amazing at making avis!
Check your inbox, I PM'd you about the stones.

Kaderin Triste 12-29-2016 05:00 PM

Ah yes, I got it.
I had to giggle a little, because one of the ones in the middle row on the right end is actually the tiger's eye. But my phone really is bad with pics.
And most of them being various agates actually isn't much of a surprise. I think most of the stones were from those souvineer "pick your own bag if stones" things that most national parks seem to have.

Glitch 12-29-2016 05:23 PM

I'm back~

Ventured out to the mall . . . I was hoping I could convince my mom to let me upgrade my iphone but no such luck. Instead she put me on her phone plan so I'm paying less which is cool but still bummed XD

I did get doctor who monopoly though ouo

Kaderin Triste 12-29-2016 05:35 PM

Oooh! Nice!
I am jealous!

SparX 12-29-2016 07:15 PM

Good afternoon all!
I got off an hour early today that was nice =3

Some of the stones were hard to identify, just because I could not see the color or the sheen. Yes, those "fill a bag" stones are usually all agates. But they are pretty though, I put them in glass containers, and they always cheer me up.

Glitch 12-29-2016 08:02 PM

glad to hear it sparx, hopefully you get some time to relax

SparX 12-29-2016 08:14 PM
