You can always get extras. I have stuff stashed from previous recent events. I pick up as many as I can and donate a bunch of spares to cat paws. Not sure I can do that this time though. Need to get more currency!

@QMC: I intend on getting extras, some for extra poses, some for the future, and some for the miscellaneous pile. P:

I really want to get a full set, that's what I always go for. Extras, for me, are just that. I dislike selling stuff :p

You can donate them to new people that join after said events, or give stuff to Cat Paws for that purpose. Event items are put into bundles usually, so you don't usually need more than one unless you want two of a particular item. For instance I have two Zara's bundles from Nox so that I can wield two spears, but I don't necessarily have much use for two of the other items in the set, except for the sake of keeping the set together if I sell it in the future.

@QMC: Mmm. I'll figure where to donate stuff after the event. This way I can do inventory counts and decide what I'll be willing to donate and what I want to keep. :3

My hair? It's the white style from Dancing Flames I think? One of the Rune donation items. Let me double check the name.
