@ Lav: that is a total plan! I read a lot and love recommending books
Humanity has been around in some form or other way longer than most people realize. Atlantis was destroyed in 10,000 BC and they were around a long time before that!I'm sure you know about the Summerians, the Annunaki, and Planet Nibiru (Planet 9). |
Moonshadow: Sounds interesting. :D I have a book on the history of the celts. They popped up around where modern day Turkey is.
For biology/zoology I mostly read about my favorite animals: Crocodilians. I know a lot about them but there is still so much to learn about the beautiful creatures. |
The Celts (and the Druids) are some of the most amazing early cultures ever!
It's irritating to find out how each one who would invade would destroy the records of the culture. Did you read How the irish Saved Civilization? by Cahill. Fascinating read. |
>.>
As a note, on several of those documentaries: they tend to exaggerate/make up parts to fill in a narrative/story. On the bright side, there is an r/AskaHistorian and r/BadHistory on Reddit that can clear up issues/questions. :D ...I have been doing research that started on the Atlantis bit...most arrives at two places: 1) The Minoan civilization that deforested all their lands (cutting short their islands carrying capacity), suffered a volcanic eruption on a major city (Thera), and were replaced with the more "Spartan" Myceneans (Greeks). The Minoan Civilization was largely seafaring and good on technology for its time. They were Crete & Thera, The other introduced me to prehistory (before writing, but not before sculpture, art, houses, or domestication of dogs). The Natufian/Harifian cultures (see: Jericho) would later become part of the Canaanites (see: Ugarit) that were rebelled against/driven out by the Hittites, Persians, & Jews. They in turn became the seafaring culture of Phonecia - which included Tyre and Carthage...which were trading buddies with the Minoans. (On the other note, Troy is a different story - believed to be more Luwian/Hittite in origin) ...so, yeah, one of my earlier forays into writing was meant to explore this...and hell, the Natufian culture was late Ice-Age.* (Which got me interested in paleontology) *Disclaimer for negative rant: ...I'll note also Gobleki Tepe, the first known temple, surviving from the 10th to 8th millennia BC (9130 - 7370, with three different iterations). Final disclaimer: I am not a professional. |
considering the celts(despite having a fair few literates) did not write stuff down as a principal rule that is kind of strange to imagine
|
@ Lawtan: WTF??? thanks for all that information. Please don't apologize, you are obviously well-versed in this subject. I am just beginning! Keep the info coming when you see fit and don't apologize! I need to hang with you more <3
@ Cho! Yay I'm glad to see you I have missed you. |

Most of my interest in Irish history is with Easter Rising, Irish War of Independence, Irish Civil war, the IRA, Sinn Feinn and The Troubles. So, from 1916 and forward. It might just be because I can connect my family to these parts of history? I dont know. |
Have you had your DNA tested for your anscestry. I used Ancestry.com and it came back quite interesting! Turns out out of all the mixes I have I am 10% Irish!!!
|
Man I want to do that but I don't have the money
|
I got a special offer sent to me and I've wanted to do it for years and years, so at $79 I felt it was worth it and I was glad I did it because I always wondered what my ethnicity was.
I was truly shocked to be European, African, Iberian Peninsula, Irish, UK and Asian |
I know what I am for the most part, though I am sure there are ones I dont realize I am. I am mostly Irish with Welsh, Manx, German and Italian thrown in.
|
I can guarantee you that you are more than that.
Unless you have already done your family ancestry research. I was stunned because I had no idea, I thought I my ancestry was Spain/China, had no idea of the others. I figured African somewhere there. |
Lol well I know I am more than that but these are what I know for certain. I'm not really all that interested honestly.
|
I have to admit that I was very curious, I like finding out stuff like that.
|
Hello
|
Shamus! Hi, where you been? (Don't tell me Caedon) hahaha
|
i really want to do that toooooo
|
Well, I guess I wont answer your question then. Lol
Whats up? |
Glitch DO IT!!! save up the money, it would be nice for Winter to know her ancestry. How is she doing? Did you ever get a diagnosis?
Shamus! you.... you...cheater! hahaha |
Lol its okay, I cheat on everyone eventually anyway. Lol.
Trisphee and I are poly anyway. ;) |
Well with Janna you will not be cheating! Keep saying that.hahaha
I find it hard to cheat on avi sites. I tend to just stay with the one that is current for me and not jump around. |
You cant cheat in a poly relationship anyway. I have friends with benefits and will continue to see them. :) I am not happy in a monogamous relationship and neither is she. She used to have a friend with benefits but he crossed the line with me and she didnt like it and hasnt seen him since. She's not actively looking for a new one but if she finds someone she wants to start that sort of relationship with, its cool with me.
I tend to jump around, especially if one is moving slowly at the moment. |
You know I think that couples should do whatever works for them and people shouldn't judge at all. If it works for you and Janna then its the right thing for you guys. I have no problem being monogamous. I cheated once and it didn't work out well for me, in my subsequent relations I did not cheat. Not that I wasn't tempted but I never cheated.
|
Thank you for not being judgemental. Some people have yelled at me for it or have called Janna a whore...to my face...as if she's the one with 3 fwb. It makes me mad. You are right, each couple should do what works for them and if it means having other people on the side, who cares?
I become unhappy in monogamous relationships and feel trapped, which is why I cheat. I dont like the other person 99% of the time. |
I just leave when I am not happy in a relationship, because I know cheating makes me feel so badly about myself. It feels like I have let myself down and its not worth that feeling for me.
|
It doesnt make me feel bad about myself. It does make me feel kind of guilty if my so cries. Thats about it. I have a hard time with feelings. I domt feel them like normal people do. The only thing that comes easily is anger and lust.
|
I feel the feelings of others, I'm quite empathetic, so I feel badly about what I might have done, then I feel badly because they feel badly. I have worked really hard to have healthy emotions, and I have made great strides in that regard.
|
Thats great that you are doing well emotionally.
I have a lot of work to do in that regards. I hope some day I can feel normal emotions like a normal person. |
I have used Buddhist tenets to help me deal with my emotions. I found the book, Anger by Thich Nhat Hanh a very good start in my quest for mindfulness.
|
A have a book by Thich Nhat Hanh on the basics of Buddhism. That sounds like a book I could really use. Thats basically the only thing I feel. If something funny happens or I have a nice moment with the kids, or feel sexual desire for woman, those are the only times I feel something else. Those feelings only last for probably 15, 20 minutes, except the sexual desire, which will last until I do something about it.
It kind of sucks always being angry. |
My father was a very angry man It was hard living with him, because he would explode for any and every reason. Not to be all Psychology 101 but everything I have ever read says that anger is actually fear, frustration, pain. That is how I dealt with mine. But any book by Thich Nhat Hanh would be helpful.
|
Well, I have a lot of pain and frustration from the past. I dont fear much though unless I dont take my schizophrenia meds, then I'm paranoid and afraid of almost everything.
I bet its hard for my kids to live with me as well for that reason. I explode alot and even if its not at them, I imagine that it bothers them just as much. I'll have to dig out that book by him. I have 5 or 6 different places in the house where I keep books, so it might take me a bit to find it. |
I really recommend his books, and I totally recommend Buddhism tenets in order to be mindful (which just means to live in the moment, no thoughts of past or future, just being present) There is also a book that helped me with that called The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.
|
I know what mindfulness is. I've studied Buddhism plus was forced to do dumb ass DBT 4 times that did absolutely nothing but aggravate me.
I'll check that out. |
I hope you can get all that sorted out.
You deserve to have a happy life <3 |
Thanks. Sorry, I dont mean to come off grouchy. I'm not.
How are you doing? |
Its okay, sometimes I tend to drone on and assume people don't know what I know. It comes from a place of helping, not a place of judgment.
I do not have a migraine tonight so I am happy! Last night I had one and did not sleep well. I find heat helps to calm my migraines down. |
Its okay, I knew it was for helping purposes, not that you were being judgmental.
Yay! Thats interesting that the heat calms your migranes. I get migranes galore in the summer due to heat. Sorry for such late reply. McPreggers had a craving, |
I know everyone is so shocked that moist heat helps my migraines!
It took a longtime to get them under control because heat was the only thing NOT recommended! McPreggers' cravings must be attended to first!!! hahaha |
Heyo, I just noticed the Hindi in your signature :o
