"I want a flower belt! Who's gonna make me a flower belt?"

Kaderin Triste 05-06-2018 03:20 AM

Oh sure...we decide on flowers and I end up working on 2 very simple triangle shawls, a baby blanket, and a hippo which will be SUPER soft because I am using a Premier brand Parfait Layers yarn cake that we just got in at Joann the other day. Seriously. If you have not rubbed one of these on your face felt one of these, you're missing out.

Oh no. I have made a terrible yarn color choice and my hippo is gonna look like a frickin minion. I regret everything...

Is it for a baby too, like the blanket? If so, babies tend to worry less about appearance. Your hippo will be loved just for its softness.

Oh goddddd why am I looking at crochet flower patterns so outside my skill level

Somewhat related: anybody have/know of any good patterns for a lightweight shawl? Preferably something that looks kinda lacey

Kaderin Triste 05-06-2018 10:48 AM

Death: SOFTER than the blanket yarns! 8D
And yeah, thank goodness it is going to be sold or given away. Preferably sold, but with me who knows? It'll still be pretty cute though.

Ever: Yes, but only for loom knitting..

Death by Mirrors 05-06-2018 03:09 PM

EverAshwood, depends what you're looking for.
For crochet I think the Solaris Shawl and Corona look interesting, and if you prefer knitting you could try this Easy Lace Stole or a bit more advanced but still made of basic lace stitches, Japanese Waves.

Kaderin, well then it'll make a great cuddle buddy, minion or not ^^

I already made a flower this month! It's sewn onto my crochet hat, but no one said it has to be seperate.

"Mine!" Derpy grabs the hat and tries to put it on his head. Of course, it's way too big and ends up covering him completely.

Death by Mirrors 05-06-2018 05:24 PM

Derpy, if you give me your head circumference and address... :P

Derpy peeks out from under the hat. "Do you reawwy mean it? Because uh...uh...KADEWIN! HOW BIG IS MY HEAD AND WHAT'S OUR ADDWESS?!"

Death by Mirrors 05-07-2018 09:40 AM

Yeah, I'm pretty sure a hat wouldn't cost that much to ship internationally. Might arrive a bit crumpled, but I'm sure Kaderin could tug it back in form.

Kaderin Triste 05-07-2018 09:52 AM

Lol. I really should just put Derpy's measurememts and my address on the front page for people who want to make him stuff.
I have most of his measurements written down somewhere, just gotta find the paper.

sign up for ravelry! (if you're not already there, that is.) they have a HUGE database of patterns, and you can search for lace shawl patterns; lightweight yarn; difficulty or ease of the pattern; and many other variables!

EverAshwood 05-07-2018 02:35 PM

Death by Mirrors: I've never seen that second one, thank you :)

Damies: ???

trystan830: I actually just joined before I asked LOL thought I'd ask everyone here tho, coz I keep finding more just based on slightly different search terms, so I thought "okay, CLEARLY there's a lot more than I thought. Let's see if the horrible hobby hangout has some good ones" lol

Starting to feel like I gotta learn to knit to make super cute lace... all the cute patterns for lace crap on my pinterest is for knitting :/ obviously some crochet, but nowhere near the quantity or quality of knitting...
