I've never made Reeses before. The only candy I've ever made is fudge. I bet that was tasty. :D

I'm having a problem with the chocolate. I want a butter based one, but it was not thick enough to hold it's shape without being chilled.

I use butter with my fudge and then chill it, but once it's been chilled it usually holds its shape pretty good.

I've made Buckeyes, which are peanut butter balls that are coated with chocolate, but the very top remains exposed so that they look like the nut. They taste like Reese cups too...you have to use a LOT of powdered sugar in them.

Oh my. Those look so incredible!

Athilea Majiri 05-02-2016 09:16 PM

They are very yummy...and now I want some.

ZenKitty 05-02-2016 09:17 PM

I have quite the sugar craving now. @_@

There is another thing we make sometimes called potato candy. It's potatoes, lots and lots of powdered sugar, and peanut butter. Just looking at them will rot your teeth.

I've never seen or heard of that. What does it taste like?

Athilea Majiri 05-02-2016 10:12 PM

sugar and peanut butter. It's so strange too. You boil the potatoes and then as you add the sugar it liquefies them. You actually have to add a lot of sugar because you need to potatoes to be dough like.

ZenKitty 05-02-2016 10:13 PM

Interesting. I'd like to try one some time.

Athilea Majiri 05-02-2016 10:24 PM

I've never seen them sold anywhere, maybe they are but so far as I know it's strictly a home made sort of thing.

sounds like it would taste good if it was fried afterwards to give it a crispy shell

Fulkth 05-03-2016 07:41 PM

I just made something that tasted kind of like reese's!
I only made it because I had all the ingredients on hand. And in the process I got rid of some leftover chunky peanut butter and pretzels.

the Potato Candy? No, they aren't fried. I've never had them fried and I'm not sure I would want to do that.
