I love Miyazaki films <3 I loved Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, and I haven't seen Castle in the Sky for a long time but I remember loving it. I saw half of Princess Mononoke but found it too bloody for my tastes. My Neighbor Totoro was weird...
I have yet to see Kiki's Delivery Service, and Arietty. I don't really care to see any really older ones or Porco Rosso ... Am I missing any? o.o -googles- |
I remember when Turner classic movies had a nightly thing where they would show two every night. I havent seen the cat returns or whisper of the heart. I found my neighbor totoro to be strange as well as Pompoco. That was just all kinds of strange. I loved Pocco Rosso It is probably one of my favorites as well as Kiko's delivery service. XD princess monooke was also strange. I am not sure I liked ponyo.

I have Kiki's Delivery Service *really cute* and I loved Princess Mononoke *has that too* My neighbor Totoro was adorable ono Porcoroso was ok.. the Cat Returns is funny :3 Castle In The Sky was a cute little adventure, Spirited Away had good and fun story. Howl's Moving Castle was funny x3 I don't think I've seen any more of his..
His son Gorou Miyazaki is good too.. in Tales From Earthsea. at first I thought it was Hayao Miyazaki due to 2 of the characters looking almost exactly alike. One looked like the Monk from Princess Mononoke, the other was the one Pirate Dude from Castle In The Sky x3 |

I to enjoy the Miyazaki films. I particularly enjoyed Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and My Neighbor Totoro.

Have yall seen Grave of the Fire Flies?
|
I have not. Any good? Recommend it?
Also, I enjoyed Princess Mononoke. |
It's one of Miazaki's best from before Disney began sponsoring Ghibli.
It's not a feel good movie, or a fantasy, but it shows the ordeals of a boy and his sister who run away from home during the height of Imperial Japans conquests during WWII. It follows how they live, before and during the war, and how they survive in a country that is increasingly running out of resources as Imperial Japan funnels more and more necessities from the Civilians to the Army. I would recomend it, but it's very realistic. It's hard for some people to watch. |
Okay then. Might have to look into it then. Might be an interesting watch.
|
It's very good and shows the diversity of Miazaki's work and skill as a artist and director.

I saw that one once... it actually got me all teary-eyed, and not in the good way. Now I get sad when I see those tins of fruit candies at the Asian Market.

i dont think i want to see that movie now ><

Grave of fire flies is not Mizaki, its done in his style because its done by Ghibli but it is not one of his personal movies. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095327/. It is why Turner classic movies did not show it during there celebration of Miyzaki. Miyzaki has this annoying habit ( to me at least ) of putting social commentary in his films. He has never made one that is bluntly obvious about an issue. It is why I did not like Howls moving castle. The book did not have war in it yet he added it to the movie to make commentary.

I was not aware of that.
Eitherway, I would still recommend it to Alpha. It's just a great movie overall. |
XD why not? Every one could use a bit of realism even if its rooted in fantasy. Its why I like films like Children of Men and District 9
