We're quite literally down to the bare essentials... meats for dinner, but not much else. We don't even have bread.

My advice is - go and get raisins. They are cheap, and eating some should quench hunger, plus they are healthy. I can eat 5-10 and my hunger shuts up. Also, drink water on top, like glass or as much as you can (peppermint tea would be even better). And it will be like "easy diet" days. Then you can't really even eat that meat, though, just stick with those raisins.
