For the Guard, not nearly the same job as for the Active military. Suffice to say it's not what I'll want to be doing should I be able to get a commission once I graduate college.

im pretty sure military police deal only with the military, we call it something different here so it may be different in america

Essentially, Ashy is right. The Military Police only deal with violations of the law on military installations and in military matters.

Hence the nickname jack asses. Because most people don't like cops, add in military training and they are less liked.

I am so lost. I'm gonna Google/Wiki on whether or not the equivalent up here in Canada is the RCMP or something else.

Yeah. The only catch is that my job description being with the National Guard is actually different than that of active duty MPs.

So what is your job description as a member of the national guard?

Well, basically my training is so that in a combat situation I can take over any role of other combat members of the unit with little to no problem. I learn the police work stuff, just don't have to do it unless specifically called to do it. Not a part of my normal "job".

Ahh...so kind of like a 'utility' person who knows how to do everything this way they can do whatever the situation calls for, right?

Pretty much that's a good way to sum it up. I won't be able to do anything that requires special training, but say the gunner becomes incapacitated I can take over for him, or the driver, or be another rifle on target, machine gun, etc. It's mainly for deployments, but I also need to know how to handle riots as well, and lots of other stuff as well. Next summer will be interesting for me suffice to say.

Does anyone know when this event will end?

so a couple more days? since it was supposed to end last Wednesday?

As has been said before several users still don't have that many ribbons, even ones that post a decent amount(including myself here). We want to give users a decent amount of time to gather enough ribbons for at least one full set. When we have an official end date we'll post it in the first post of this thread and in the title though expect it to end Friday next week(15th) at the latest. We're not going to spring it on you an hour before so don't worry about that :P

Okay, I'll stop asking about it and will just wait to see it announced =p
