I never got into text speak or what ever that is xD
how old are you? o.O |
I learned on a television show that "1337" is supposed to stand for "elite"... Sigh. I miss the English language.
If that.. language takes over.. I'm gonna build an underground mansion and keep those who love 'real' language inside it and protected..
The fact is, such things have been said for... millennia, or many centuries at least, since literate societies have existed their languages have evolved... French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian are just localized bastardizations of Latin, now looked at as beautiful and culturally rich... I mean, anthropologically speaking (not that I'm an anthropologist or that I study it or anything like that, but...) it's all the same... Have you ever heard of l'academie francaise?
All that said, though... I hope such a thing does not happen in my lifetime... |
never heard of it.. =/
That's all right ; I hadn't expected that you would. It's an actual academy of men in France who decide what should and shouldn't be accepted into the official French language. It's been around for... like 2 or 3 centuries ; don't remember exactly. But while they may control the "official" language, with the way people communicate so quickly, it's impossible to regulate, and soon enough it will be well outside of the academy's approval.

That's cool.
I know nothing about France.. except that there is that tower thing that seems to be popular to people.. everyone around me talks about wanting to visit it. |
I visited it in a mini-exchange program when I was in fifth grade (10 years old). A class full of kids learned basic french over the course of the year, hosted a class of french students for a couple of weeks, and then we all went over to France to stay with them for a couple of weeks. It was fun. But my host family, though they were nice and all, they had horses, and they went to take care of them almost every day (they lived somewhere else) and as a result we didn't do much. Also it was Aix-En-Provence (or at least that's where their school was, but being that it was a charter, the kids were mainly from surrounding suburb-type areas) - that's in the south, about ... 30 minutes or so from the Mediterranean. Nowhere near Paris. It seems lovely but no particular draw for me...

I never held any appeal for france.. except for the part in Anne Rice's books where she tells the story of how Lestat was made. :3
Aw, haha. Less and less am I interested in touristy type things...
The only place I want to go is Japan.
Hmmm... I don't know where I want to go. I think Ireland, England, Scotland.
I might like to go to Germany once.. I have ancestral roots there somewhere.
