"Heh, let me growl when I want to," Nobuo smiled and swatted the finger away playfully. It was similar to how he was treated when he was younger, but now things had gotten more serious and people were treating him in a more respectful manner. Though he'd rather turn back the clock and live like how he used to back when. But then he got an annoyed look and frowned, "How bothersome.. All of these issues left and right. I bet the humans don't have to put up with such things." He thought about how his life would be like if he were born human instead of a tengu, then life would have been easier and better the whole way through. While he didn't necessarily agree to serving under such ridiculous laws and traditions, spells or no spells, he knew what was coming as well as the children. And hopefully the cycle of laws and tradition would be broken and people will be free from the system, "Well now that you put it that way...I won't ask him about it. That seems more dangerous than it's worth."
Nobuo took one of the two and carried them in his arms. He looked up in the direction of the temple, "Let's head back and get these two into bed." Nobuo started walking, expecting that Ken'ichi would follow and bring the other child along. |
Ken'ichi tutted at what Nobuo said and flicked his nose playfully “Only animals growl” he said once more his voice showing he was playing with his young superior like they once had done. “If you are wanting a frown or annoyed look, stay around these two long enough and you'll get plenty” he chuckled picking up Arata gently making sure not to wake the sleeping boy.
Ken'ichi looked at him and chuckled “Human life is far worse... where we are civilized in this tribe, to those lower than us...” he stopped and shook his head, really not wanting to get into this subject, he had seen humans do terrible things to their own kind and even worse things to those who were different from them. Ken'ichi looked to both of the children then to Nobuo, he could see that their was a lot on his mind, and his gut feeling told him it was going to end bad for all involved, though he remained silent and continued walking behind Nobuo as was customary. “I doubt either of us wish to make your father look weaker than he already does” he commented, he had heard some of the elder's since his returned and though he didn't agree with his place within the tribe, he hated the double standard politics even more. “They can't go to bed, they are to meet the heir's when we get back” he stated bluntly, moving his arm out to take the other from Nobuo, he could only imagine what it would look like if Nobuo walked into the temple holding one of the 'shadowed' as the other elders had so named the twins. |
Nobuo rubbed his nose, "If civilized means beating up those who are lower than us just because they make a minor mistake, then I would hate to see how humans treat the lower ones." He trusted Ken'ichi with this, since Ken'ichi was someone who had experienced life outside of the tengu villages. Though, Nobuo flinched in surprise at hearing that the heirs were already in the area. He thought he would get some time before their arrival, but this did not sit with him well, "Is this some sort of weird timing?"
|
Ken'ichi stopped and looked to him, his deep jade eyes showing all seriousness “Nobuo...” it was the first time since their return that he dared not call a person by their title “Toshi, was brought up in a culture that a higher could chop off a lowers head, just to see how sharp the blade was... tell me that is civilized” he say coldly, at least in the Tengu race their had to be some sort of wrong to punish a lower born.
“Apparently they have been in the village for a few days now” he stated taking Rie from Nobuo and continued walking behind him allowing the two children to hug into one another “Weird timing, I guess you could call it that... though you could ask for your father to postpone the meeting for a few more days, if you are not ready for it” he stated calmly “Under the circumstances, the other elders would agree, after all you have only now awoken after an eight hundred year coma” he said nudging him lightly, to show if he wanted anything for the month or two he should play on that one thing. |
"...Just to see how sharp a blade was? That's absurd!" even if the punishments in the tengu village were extreme, just hurting or killing someone for one's own use and pleasure was too much for him. He placed a hand on his pouch, where he had stored the paper he had grabbed from earlier. Ken'ichi's words were enough to scare him and give him a reason to avoid contact with the humans. And after listening to what else Ken'ichi had to say, he couldn't help but cough and chuckle at it, "Yes...800 year coma. I hope I don't get caught laughing about that..now that I know that it wasn't a...standard coma." Nobuo caught the implication and would be using the next few days thinking of ways to exploit the situation, taking it into his advantage. At least that was one good thing that came out of such a huge mess. Then he became serious again. "So..that village I wrecked back when I was living as Yuu.." which was just putting it mildly considering he slaughtered the majority of the people there, "Was the elder who was in charge of that village away from the village during that time of the attack? Is he or she still alive?" Nobuo hoped the answer wasn't a yes. He didn't want to have to face the person who was in charge of the place back then, and he also didn't want to have to face any of his or her children.
|
Ken'ichi nodded “Or if you didn't bow to a superior you could also get your head taken off” his voice showed just how serious he was on this matter “All of a sudden our culture doesn't seem so bad does it” his voice was gentle as he spoke continuing on the path to the temple “Many simple crimes often ended in death Nobuo, please don't forget that” he sighed, he didn't mean to scare him, but he had to know that the outside world was just as cruel if not worse to people.
“Yes comas are terrible things on young nobles, who knows what it could do to their tender young minds” he continued to play along with it a small, quiet chuckle escaping his lips though his eyes went down to the twins he was carrying as he didn't want to disturb the peaceful rest they seemed to be having. “The elder was in this village at the time, and you know his son... his name is Kaito” he say gently, following after Nobuo, they where now nearing the village and he knew this meant he would have to be careful in how things were said and how he acted “Don't worry, they don't know it was you, as your tabooed self only turned up when you were well and truly pissed off or scared” his voice showed he had nothing to worry about on the matter |
Whatever other things that Ken'ichi said instantly flew right over his head. Whether or not Ken'ichi was joking seemed to have hit a nerve with him and he turned around to face Ken'ichi, with a raised brow, "I certainly hope that you weren't implying something." Nobuo waited for an answer on it before proceeding.
|
Ken'ichi looked to his young lord and shook his head, he knew Nobuo well enough not to irritate him “It was not meant as an insult, nor in fun” he said plainly, stopping just after Nobuo had “It is a simple fact, when someone goes into a coma, no one knows what kind of damage could have been done... and the younger you are the worst of you could be effected” he once more stated, showing that he could possibly have even more le-way if he wanted to
He bowed his head a little “I do apologise if my words offended you, Nobuo it wasn't my intention” his words showed that the apology was a sincere one, remaining with a bowed head for a little longer he rose it, waiting for the conversation to continue or for Nobuo to start moving, not that he minded being outdoors, it was more than refreshing from his training. “Are you hungry?” he enquired, seeing if he could buy them all a little more time. |
"I will keep that in mind," Nobuo turned around to take the path back to the temple. Since it wasn't a standard coma, he could very well fake a few things, but he wasn't sure if that would be able to do it successfully in front of his father. Though he grinned at the mere mention of food, "You know I'm not the type to turn down food." He hoped that Ken'ichi wasn't aware that he had stored food in various places around the temple, hidden away from others. It was a wonder that he was still thin after all of that, "What did you have in mind?"
|
“Your father will play along, after all anything to keep his only son happy.” he chuckled a little and quietly at that “As far as your father is concerned you were in a coma, mearly dormant in your reincarnated form” he stated with a soft sigh, he knew for a fact no other elder dare oppose his cousin on the matter as all records were kept by this tribe.
Hearing Nobuo's words when he mentioned food he chuckled “Same old Nobuo I see” he smiled warmly at that fact “And your stash's around the temple... your father will hear nothing from me” he whispered, it was his job to know the goings on within the temple, after all he was the main family's shield. “Well we could have a picnic, I stashed a food basket around here with enough food to feed four of you” he chuckled knowing full well that Nobuo enjoyed his food and so had made sure to back enough to cater the four of them “Failing that, I could take you on a lesson on where to find fruit and how to know which fruits are poisonous and such” the way he made it sound made the second one seem more like a game than a lesson. |
Nobuo gave a small and nervous chuckle, almost as if he was not too fond of being caught. But then again, maybe it was a good thing someone had known, otherwise his old stash would have been sitting there for almost 800 years, making the place smell of rot. Then he thought about the second option that Ken'ichi had mentioned. "Mmhmm..interesting," Nobuo was never outside the temple enough to ever see an actual fruit on a tree or bush. Understanding what types were good and which ones were poisonous would have been a good skill just in case he had to leave the temple for a long period of time. It was far more practical and more enjoyable to him than learning about rules and codes, "I didn't know there were poisonous fruits. I thought all of them were edible."
|
Ken'ichi smiled a little “Not all lesson's are boring, it just depends on the teacher I guess” his voice was gentle and showed tenderness, something that wasn't common in the guardian of the family, turning he moved into the forest “Some are poisonous, and some poisons are more fatal than others” he continued, continuing to walk further into the forest with the two sleeping children.
Soon he stopped placing them under a tree “like I said some are poisonous, but others can have healing quality’s” he said hoping his young lord was taking everything in “Now, what I want you to do, is go around the area and bring back fruits and vegetables you believe are good to eat and I will tell you if they are good to eat or not” he said sitting down allowing Nobuo walk off to deal with the task that had been asked of him. |
The task was simple enough and Nobuo nodded before heading off. It was definitely a drastic change in pace compared to what he had experienced earlier and he felt part of his anxiety ease off. Outside, in the forest was far more soothing than it was in the temple, where he usually expected someone to pop out from a corner to see what he was up to. Soon, he approached a tree with red fruits hanging off of it and he reached up, feeling the the fruit before giving it a swift tug to pull it off of the branch it had been growing off of. A wave of reality washed over him, making him realize even more about how sheltered he had been. He had grown up alone, save the tutors, the elders, and the servants. Aside from that, he was feeling a tad adventurous and sunk his teeth into the firm, juicy fruit. He was sure it wasn't poisonous...at least for a minute. It tasted good though, but he quickly spit it out just in case.
He continued on with the others that he could find, but instead had stretched out his robe sleeve to help him carry whatever things looked like fruits. Nobuo, afterwards, was astonished by just how many he had found. Then it came as no surprise to him how people outside the temple were able to survive well off of the land. Whoever had chosen the spot to build the village had obviously chosen well. A few minutes later, he sat down next to Ken'ichi and tilted his sleeve, allowing the fruit to roll off onto the ground. He grabbed a fruit and looked up at Ken'ichi, "Alright, so this is not poisonous?" It was almost like a blueberry, but appeared to be larger and had more of a waxy, purplish skin. |
