Demo sat down on the blanket next to Asche. The question he asked caused Demo's smile to fade. "I didn't want him around all this." He said motioning to the sick people in the tent. "He's not a fighter and I don't want him to see all the death. Also I can't keep a constant watch over him. I barely can keep up with the patients as it is. Let alone fighting in this blasted war."
Asche saw Demo was not comfortable with his question.
"I am sorry I did not wish to cause you discomfort but I am faced with a similar question myself. When Celto was hurt the other day my immediate thought was to send him away from here." He took Celto out of his hair and placed him on his lap, "I worry that he will miss me and not take food. I rescued him from other animals on Kalin and nursed him back to health, I took him to the Altu'ui to release him in their fields but he refused to leave me. I have said this before. I am sorry to bore you with my problems but I thought you might understand my dilemma as you too share a love for companions." |
Demo's smile returned at Asche's story. "I raised mine from an egg that I discovered within ruins of an Ascent building. He has never been away from me this long but I know he understands. It pains me but in my situation it was my only choice. With you... I have no clue but I believe it is the companion's decision. If he agrees with you then it is the right decision. Forcing them to do anything is foolish." He said speaking sincerly. "You don't bore me, I am infact enjoying myself."
Asche saw Demo's smile return but was then thrown by his last statement, "does that mean... that you see me as a friend?"
Demo laughed at the statement thinking the man was joking. Though stopping when he realize he wasn't. "Well I wouldn't call you a stranger or an aquaintence so yes friend is the correct title."
Asche went blue in the face. "I have never had a friend besides Celto, unless my sister counts. I do not know what I am supposed to do but I promise to be a good friend."
Celto ran from Asche's lap and settled down on Demo. "I guess Celto approves of our friendship then." For the first time ever, Asche laughed. It was a good long genuine laugh. |
"So he does." Demo laughed petting the tiny dragon in his lap. "He could be Richard's twin. They look so similiar. And I look forward to it. Friends are stronger than any shield and sharper than any blade."
Asche thanked Demo for his hospitality and got up to leave, he had wasted enough time in the medics tent today. It was time to get back to work.
"You have to go. Oh okay well come back and visit every once in awhile?" Demo said as they said goodbye. "Just try not to come in on a stretcher." Demo called out while laughing at the end.
As she watches Asche leave the tent, she felt a sudden jolt of pain in her arm, not knowing what happened, Demo healed basically the whole body. She observes her arm and looks to be nothing there.
Why is that everyone sleeps? She understands for 16 hours but not for the past 2 days straight. Echo wonders if they are in a coma or surrounded by the dead. There's nothing really much to do being bedridden, and no other patients are around wanting to socialize them. |
Espy groaned slightly as she flopped over on the cot and nearly fell off. She clung on to the blankets with both hands...
...Both hands...? She hastily pulled herself back up and stared for a bit. Demo's healing skills were better than she had expected. |
I hope we are winning, too.
Demo limps inside the tent, his skin covered in my wounds and dried blood. His sword falls with a clang as he falls to his knees hard and then to his side. His consciousness is waning but he is worn from heavy battle. None of the injuries look too serious but he is pushed over his limits of fatigue. ((Back from the con XD))
Espy held her overly-sensitive nose as she walked over to Demo. Sighing and dragging him a bit roughly to the closest bed, she set him down with a slight huff and went to grab the sword.
((Tired as hell?)) |
A strange spirit wanders in, mist flowing behind him, an eerie whispering of voices clamoring at his every footstep. He carries with him two lanterns, and as he enters the camp, he sets one in the middle of this healing tent, and a noise like a voice, spoken in many whispers, can be heard.
"This lantern is an object of great power." The voice began, "Power not for mortal men. It will guide the souls of your fallen to me, and I will guide them to the life after. And do not be fooled, there will be many, many, dead before this is over. Suffering befalls you..." The being vanished, leaving the lantern behind. It emitted a ghastly aura, and anyone who might come near suddenly felt the urge to run very quickly away. |
Cheesecake wanders into the healing tent. "I can help heal those who are injured," she said.
Echo wakes up from her nap, she feels a little bit better, a whole lot better than before she walked into the tent
Cheesecake watches the lanterns that were just put down in the tent. She eyes them carefully. "It seems a little ominous that the spirit placed that lantern there," she said out loud not specifying who was supposed to be listening.
((You got it! Totally wiped XP))
(( LOL. Was it at least fun? ))
Echo watches a lady walking in the tent and all she could think of at that point was "How can you fight with that hairstyle?" Doesn't look to be practical or even practical to wear.
"Don't let the heels and hair fool you. I can fight in almost anything I wear. Fashion is something to die for in battle and if I die in battle, I want to look my best."
(( LOL. XD )) |
"Oh sorry miss, I didn't mean to insult you in any way" Echo apologizes to the lady in black.
"Oh, no, it's okay. I am fully aware that this outfit is not the most traditional battle wear. It's quite fine that you mentioned it. I might go a head and find some traditional wear," she said.
Echo smiled, and then that same jolt of pain went up her arm, she didn't do anything to it while she was on her bed, she looks at it again and it's still nothing unusual there. Could be nerve damage she thought.
Cheesecake entered with another outfit. She felt it would suit the traditional styles of battle with two leg holsters with twin daggers. She approached the woman before. "How does this look?"
"It looks nice ma'am" she complimented the lady "Now you can walk around and help others in need" echo smiles
"Oh, yes. I will get right on it!" Cheesecake exclaimed as she scurried off to aid her fellow rebels. She was chaotically working making concoctions for wounds and casting a few healing spells here and there. She also had to amputate one of her patient's legs. It hurt her to much, but the pain would have killed the poor rebel. She didn't have any alternative. She fed some of the unable victims and accompanied many others.
There are the good rebels out there, but they end up fighting rather than helping the wounded, we need more medics since they are more rebels coming through the tent
Cheesecake and just a few other medics were admitting newer patients. They could barely house the ones they had, but they somehow squeezed some more patients in. Hopefully someone would provide another tent to house the wounded.
Demo wakes up from his deep slumber, still in the filth ridden armor as the day before. "Uggggghhhhhh~" was all that escaped his mouth as he got up into a sitting position. He sleepily surveyed the tent and though to himself in his mind, "Oh right I made it back to the tent but everything after that is black." His thought wandering as he continued to survey.
Asche looked around and sat cross legged on an empty bed. Once he noticed that Demo wasn't around he placed Celto on his chest and lay back to nap.
((yes anyone can answer my character. However note that on weekdays I am away from the computer while everyone else is on due to the fact I work during nights. But please don't ignore me! D:)) Jurinjo had left the party hurriedly when things turned for the worst as the rebels began their move. He had a strong distaste for violence. Perhaps it was his history as a Yutri or maybe it was all the injured bodies he had to deal with in his profession; while some doctors practically became successful entrepreneurs during war, in the sickest form of the word, he entered the practice in genuine interest for people. Also despite all he came to Quesaria for Jurinjo had to admit the current ruler of the planet might've been a little...corrupt. Thus he found himself in the encampment of all these rebels. Always self-conscious of his appearance- Jurinjo remained in his Ascent Arco (the dragon race) form and still wore the same stylish black/blue party clothes. He approached the closest person he could see, "Excuse me, I heard there was a desperate need for medics?" |
Demo looked over to the man who had entered the tent in a peculiar set of clothing. "Talking to that man will get you nowhere sir but yes I am in need of any assistance I can find." Demo said as he carefully raised himself from the cot to great the new person. "Oh and don't mind the wounds I haven't had time to deal with mine yet."
Before the man in front of him even mentioned it he hadn't even noticed the wounds. He actually took in the rest of his appearance first. "No scrape should be ignored sir." he responded diplomatically.
Upon coming to the assumption that this man was in fact recognized as a leader among the rebels he continued. "I'm Jurinjo- a certified doctor of Kalin. My experience serving in a war triage is a zero...but I have volunteered work during natural disasters." Leaving the seriousness a little the doctor put on a humble smile that showed a hint of embarrassment should he have been wrong telling all that to the man in front of him. "I said all that to the correct person...right?" |
Demo laughed inside at the formality because he was not used to it. "Well I do run the medical station for our camp, so yes you said it to the right person." Demo said with a smile. "Glad to have you onboard, I will not walk you through what your duties are because your duties are simple, help anyone and everyone. You shall have a break when needed and room and meals shall be provided." Demo said giving his informal speech. "I have to warn you though, that kind of formality is tiresome and not needed around here. All I need is someone who can help with the healing of my patients." Demo said this all with a friendly smile showing that this place was someplace to take comfort and relax, well until you were faced with someone dying. Then the seriousness kicks back in.
"Sorry Sir." he paused then smiled at his accidental habit. Sometimes he was chided for not being formal enough considering the crowd he was often around.
He was now "officially" sided with the rebels. Jurinjo hoped he hadn't chosen the wrong side. He hoped this wouldn't affect his life so utterly and tragically that he would regret it. How would his friend that he met in Quesaria react once he heard news of this? ...if he even heard news of it. Triage doctors hardly garnered much attention from the enemy. Realizing he rather brooding thoughts the Yutri snapped himself back to reality. "I'll grab my things from the car." As energizing as it was to be around this man the suffering he saw on the way in didn't go unnoticed to him. Jurinjo's steps were rushed but evenly paced and in control. He was knowledgeable in healing magics and the extent of their power but could not use it himself. Instead it was good old fashioned medicine and bandages he had brought with him. Looking around at the damage it was saddening they would not last. Jurinjo made a mental note to contact someone to get some supplies in. |
*Angel wanders in bearing a large box of supplies. She sets the box on a table by the door, and then smiles and waves before leaving.*
