Tent show it off! Also wish I could diy a roof rack. XD

Forecast says sunny days starting Wednesday! I may be able to pull the second build off after all!

Edit: Second frame done and fits in my car! Funnily enough we loaded the car today and decided not to unload it and reload tomorrow... this was supposed to be a "see what fits" test run that turned into "screw it leave it all in there" Now I need to figure out how to label my paintings with prices. xnx

Good colors Derpy! Keep it up!

Also some pics of my booth on the 13th

I sold one 25 dollar painting at the event. xD

"Those are pwetty! How do I make mine that pwetty?"

Death by Mirrors 10-22-2018 04:23 AM

They're cool, Damies! I love how the effects make them look wild, yet the colors show harmony.

Sorry for massive picture, I don't feel like reuploading it so I'm not gonna resize it. The site was incredibly dusty and windy, so it is filthy.

The second pic is our full camp set up with our friends. The heraldry banners are theirs. We haven't got our arms figured out yet... we JUST got our award of arms a couple months ago.

Nice tent, Mekatra. I also like the heraldry banners even though they aren't yours. Do you already have a vague idea what you want for arms?

That's some pretty cool art, Derpy.

Mekatra 10-24-2018 03:35 PM

I'm leaning toward a spider of some kind since I really like weaving and spinning.

Death by Mirrors 10-24-2018 04:53 PM

Awesome idea! Personally I love when there is a hidden meaning behind it, and not just "let's take _____ because it looks friggin' cool"

My SCA-sona is a middle-class Viking woman. I'm saving up to get all the stuff to make my outfit and sundries.

Death by Mirrors 10-25-2018 05:04 AM

Sounds interesting. Do you have any pictures?
I've always been a fan of the SCA and similar groups, but usually they meet far away and so I just admire from a distance.

Mekatra 10-25-2018 10:47 AM

Hey my persona is viking-age too. I'm Lady Sigriðr Flossidottir from 900ish AD Iceland.

I don't know what kind of fabric you're planning on using for your garb, but if you need linen about the best prices are from the totally not sketchily named (but actually legit) https://fabrics-store.com/ Their color selections are amazing and the quality of linen is pretty great. Linen is expensive, but the stuff lasts half of forever and is period appropriate.

For beads and whatnot I tend to lean toward estate sales or buying from/bartering with fellow SCAdians. If you need any kind of viking age brooches or cloak pins or whatever https://www.etsy.com/shop/irenedavis1 is a Laurel and all her stuff is either designed or cast off of actual artifacts.

Sorry... I got excited...

Death by Mirrors 10-25-2018 10:49 AM

No need to apologize, it's a pleasure to see people get excited about their hobbies in here ^^

I really should be working on my calligraphy. My kingdom has a HUGE backlog of award scrolls and I really want to help with that somehow, so I am learning illumination and calligraphy, but it is slow going. I am not very artistically talented when it comes to painting or drawing.

Wait did the nox event start already? I just assumed it hadn't bc I didn't have any candies but I guess I haven't been posting either...
