Mello's right hand gripped the sheets for a moment before his struggles calmed and his voice wasn't coming through the pillow so much anymore.
"...What did you do?" Matt frowned pulling the pillow off the blonde boy. "Where'd you learn to do that?" |
Throwing the pillow off Mello's face to make sure he hadn't suffocated, Nate relaxed after a moment. "Someone used to use it on me. Mello, are you okay...?"
He leaned down close to the blonde's face. |
Mello blinked and then sat up- looking around and seeming a little confused- like maybe he'd just open up or something.
"...I want...my picture back." Mello said quietly. |
"...What?" Nate asked, looking at Matt in confusion and surprise.
"The photo, Mels?" Matt offered. "Or the poster?"
"Do you mean the one you gave Near?" Nate inquired, watching the blonde carefully. "Because that's what the gun was about... I was..." He signed. "Mihael and I were... struggling with that scene. Mello... you- errr... in the show, Mello... he was..." He groaned, slowly.
"In the show, Mello wanted his photo back and when he came to get it, Near said something and Mello blew up, pulled out a gun, and said he wasn't Near's pawn. Near told him to shoot..." |
"...I won't shoot." Mello said- still staring at the wall on the other side of the room rather than Matt or Nate.
"That's probably the problem, then," Nate whispered, slowly reaching up and touching the blonde's face - rather gently. "...We were acting out the scene as if you would..."
"...But...he wouldn't give my photo back." Mello frowned.
"No, he did," Nate informed, sighing. "He gave it back to you as soon as you asked... and he wrote 'Dear Mello' on the back of it."
Now Mello looked at Nate.
"...Dear Mello?" Mello repeated. Matt blinked, but smiled a little. |
"I wasn't sure why," Nate laughed, letting go of the blonde's face. "I was hoping you could tell me. The kid's a mystery to me."
"...Then it was...too me." Mello frowned. "Then he could give it back...because he made it to me then...that's what he did."
"...These two are a lot more then just rivals, huh?" Nate asked, looking at Matt, as if he had all the answers.
"...Well...jeez, I didn't know you guys didn't even get stuff like that right." Matt scratched his head. "Where're you getting all the info for the story?"
Mello slowly laid back down on the bed- Matt moving the pillow under him. |
"I don't get it anywhere," Nate informed. "I just read the script... I'm not sure where the writers get it. It's totally impossible, anyways... I mean, its about a teenager that finds a notebook that kills people!"
Mello sat upright again and he and Matt looked at each other.
Nate glanced between the two of them before laughing nervously. "Very funny, you guys..."
"...You gotta be kidding me." Matt breathed.
"Matt...that recording." Mello said- pointing at Matt's computer equipment. "Play it." Matt nodded and moved over to his terminal- turning on the monitor. |
"This isn't funny!" Nate cried, scrambling off the bed and following the redhead. "You can stop joking around now!"
"Shh!" Matt looked at Nate. "Just watch...and don't freak."
He brought up a RealTime player window and started playing the recording on file. Kira, I am Lind L. Taylor...otherwise known as L... |
Nate suddenly reached over and hit the escape key, ending it.
He was silent for a long moment, before slowly taking a seat on the floor. "...Holy shit," The boy whispered. --Scene Change-- "You drive like an old woman," Near informed as Mail stopped at yet another stop sign and looked both ways. "Watari's driving is more risky then yours." |
"I get pulled over again and it's endangering a minor this time." Mail informed.
"The only thing I am in danger of is falling asleep," Near informed, lifting an eyebrow. "...Again?"
Mail smirked before he gunned the engine and let the tires scream as he peeled out.
Near didn't seem afraid - in fact, he rolled down the window and seemed to bask in the sudden rush of adrenalin, despite the sunlight that burned his sensitive skin.
Mail laughed and pushed the car even harder- blowing Near's hair back. It was so cute to see him taking in the thrill like that.
Then something that surprised even the redhead happened - a small smile curved over Near's lips... not one of those smirks that Nate made when he was in the role, but a genuine one.
"...How do you survive." Mail snorted. "I bet you like Mello's bike, eh?"
Blinking, Near slowly turned to the older teen and rolled up the window. "What bike?"
"Mello rides around on a motorcycle." Matt replied. "After he gets all burnt up."
"Burnt up?!" Near almost snapped, his eyes wide. "When does this happen!?"
"...Oh, you didn't know?" Mail blinked. "Well, I shouldn't say anything else...might destroy the space-time continuum or some bull crap like that."
"This isn't Doctor Who," Near informed, his frown deepening. "What happens to Mello?"
"What'd I say?" Mail blinked- looking genuinely confused.
"That he gets burned up," Near groaned. "And then gets a bike? If he's burned, how would he ride a bike? Pedaling alone would be painful..."
"No, it's a motorcycle." Mail replied.
"Oh," Near was still frowning. "How does he get burned?"
"With fire." Mail nodded.
"On purpose?" Near pressed, his attention span becoming slim.
