Well, machines now are really good about foot pressure. You use a foot peddle to make the needle go. Do you drive? Even if you don't, if you just use little pressure the needle won't move that fast. :)

No, I tried driving once but totally clipped the kerb at about 40 and couldn't get the wheel to turn or brake. It's not my forte haha. The pressure via foot pedal sounds pretty nifty though

Fauxreal 04-09-2013 06:05 PM

It's stress relieving. At least to me.

Anatidae 04-09-2013 06:07 PM

I find sewing very therapeutic so I can understand :)

Fauxreal 04-09-2013 06:14 PM

Oh! I'm glad I'm not the only one. And today! I get to go to JoAnn Fabrics.

woopdidoodoo 04-09-2013 07:41 PM

I find needlefelting to be like therapy for me lol
I can crochet but I can't knit lol.

I believe the sewing machine gets easier when you use it more, if you get one anat try and get lessons, cause I struggled everytime I got stuck and didn't know how to fix something and thats why I don't use it very much now lol feels like too much effort.

Fauxreal 04-09-2013 07:43 PM

I still have never tried needle felting.

Anatidae 04-09-2013 07:47 PM

I've not tried needle felting either. Sounds fun though C:

@Woop: I didn't even know you could get lessons in sewing machines. I'm sure youtube would have tutorials if I do. C:

@Faux: Oh have fun! I love fabric shopping! Before my old employer cancelled my contract I worked in the fabric department in a home store :)

Fauxreal 04-09-2013 07:49 PM

I used to work at a JoAnn Fabrics.

woopdidoodoo 04-09-2013 10:47 PM

Fauxy should try needlefelting *nods* you get to stab wool and make cute stuff lol
I'm making a rabbit at the moment.

I got private lessons from a guy who works at Joanne's. He taught me all about my sewing machine and then we made a doll's dress first since I wanted to and then we did a pattern tunic top for me. My sewing is not great but from those lessons I am no longer afraid of the sewing machine and I think I could do something on my own...maybe. I could certainly sew another doll's dress, lol.

woopdidoodoo 04-11-2013 08:06 PM

Uma I need the inspiration to use my machine hahaha
I can use it, had a few lessons ages ago, just don't want to use it lol
its a shame its a good machine.

Fauxreal 04-11-2013 09:00 PM

You can send it to me Woop. lolz! If you want inspiration, go looks through the Vogue catalog. <3

Umaeril 04-12-2013 09:26 PM

I really should make something for myself. I have some nice fabric in a casual black linen. Vogue huh? I never thought of them, I just looked at Simplicity and ....cant think of the name. Burdastyle I think. And some other place.

Fauxreal 04-14-2013 10:55 PM
