Wether people look up the information or not, if the info was released prior to the film it's not a spoiler o3o,

I once was telling a friend about an anime, and so not to give her spoilers I just copied the summery and put it in quote tags.. they still considered what was in there spoilers even though it was the official summery o3o,

What people consider spoilers and what people don't will always be different.

That's all I'm going to say, and I'll be requesting if you guys could take the 'discussion' to PMs cause it looks like an argument from here ^^,

now onto the topic, I want to see the movie but I don't.. I'll wait for a while before watching it.

i don't know any spoilers. i might see the movie either december 24 or 26.

that said, if you see what book i'm reading (in my sig) i know the movie is totally not the EU (extended universe). and i've been reading the forward timeline EU since 2011. i choose to believe that what's been published before Disney decided that most of the EU is the alternate timeline is still the EU, and it's the movie that's the alternate timeline.

Tohopekaliga 12-18-2015 05:49 PM

Movie definitely ignores the EU books. :P

I watched it today! Was very good. I enjoyed all of it. Some things were predictable, but that's okay. Doesn't make it bad.

oh yes, i do know the movie ignores the books. in fact, now canon ignores the books. *sigh*

which is why i'm going to think of the movie as the alternate timeline. ;)

It wasn't bad at all. But it was very cheap.

that's another notch in the 'do i really want to see it?' side for me.... :( (along with 'it has nothing at all to do with the books' and 'the books are now the alternate 'verse.')

i think the only things on the plus side for me are 'it's star wars,' 'R2-D2' and 'harrison ford'. oh, and BB-8 is cute.

If you like Star Wars in anyway it's worth seeing. Like I said that first half. The second half is in no way bad, remember nostalgia pandering for better and for worse.

trystan830 12-18-2015 07:14 PM

hm, good points. maybe a matinee showing won't cost me my first born. (she has to go back to college in january anyway. XD )

Tohopekaliga 12-18-2015 07:24 PM

I think it is most definitely worth seeing. Good movie.

There's always little things wrong with movies. Nothing's ever perfect, but that shouldn't keep you from enjoying it, in my opinion.

this is very true.

thanks, Toho. =)

ok, watched the movie on thursday. LOVED IT!

and it's not like the movie ignores the books.... the references are there, you just need to know what to look for.

if i posted comparisons (behind a cut, of course), who would understand them?

Quiet Man Cometh 12-31-2015 03:02 AM

I quite enjoyed it, getting the chance to go see it last weekend. Alas, I was the only one not wearing a Star Wars shirt among my group (I even checked the Disney Store nearby for something sufficiently geeky to wear) and the Kylo Ren 3D glasses were sold out. Poo.

Spoilered to prevent arguments or for those who want to be completely in the dark still:

Star Wars Episode 7 in one sentence:

I like new Darth. :D. Is voice who I think it is? It's not credited, but Jones wasn't credited in the original, either.

trystan830 12-31-2015 03:22 PM

i'll bite, who's the voice? i tried looking it up, but couldn't find anything other than the actor who plays Kylo Ren.

Quiet Man Cometh 01-02-2016 03:54 AM

I don't think "spoilers" are objectively defined. If it's something that someone who hasn't seen the movie/read the book might not want to hear, then it can be a spoiler whether or not it was made available prior to release. People intentionally search out info out of excitement and such, so I figure it's a personal judgement thing, not a "it was already there" thing.

On Kylo Ren: (This would be a spoiler to me because I was curious as to what he would sound like and wanted it to be in the moment rather than before hand. I didn't look up any character info, and didn't even know what anyone (besides Rey, Finn, and Chewie) were going to look like.)

trystan830 01-02-2016 11:25 AM

I didn't *want* to know much about the movie, I wasn't really sure if/when I'd even see it.

But, my daughters may go see it again today, and I'll float that name possibility by them, to see bwhat they think.

Spoilers, in general, are a touchy, subjective, subject to a LOT of people.
