....Ah. That's useful. A little creepy, but useful.

Tohopekaliga 01-09-2017 02:51 PM

Well, really, we have to have that information. It's your inventory, after all. :P

Espy 01-09-2017 03:12 PM

Though I wonder exactly how accurate the whole "in circulation" thing is, considering some oldbies stash items on an alt, a holdover from back when trades would crash if your inventory was too large.

Tohopekaliga 01-09-2017 03:15 PM

I haven't looked at the data, so I'm not sure, but I think Coda was spitballing anyway.

Espy 01-09-2017 03:18 PM

Hm, okay. I remember that one discussion some months (years?) ago about admins poofing items into existence, and how that would actually be a not-so-great idea.

Tohopekaliga 01-09-2017 03:22 PM

Well, we can do that...we just don't, typically.

Coda 01-09-2017 03:54 PM

I wasn't COMPLETELY spitballing; that's derived from an actual number. I queried 7-day-active user inventories and assumed that people who didn't have duplicates would be unwilling to trade their last copy, then I rounded it off. If those mules haven't been active then I wouldn't have counted them, so it's entirely possible that there might be a few more out there within reach, but I wouldn't imagine very many.

We do have admins generate freebie copies of items when they're given as prizes or as payments (item creators get to have the item they made) but that doesn't influence the overall numbers all that much. We avoid doing that ad-hoc.

Espy 01-09-2017 06:46 PM

Hm, okay. Thought the estimate came from number of copies of that item in "active" Trisphites' inventories, period.

Coda 01-09-2017 09:34 PM

No, that number would be a little higher, but I figured people wouldn't give up their only copy of a rare item.

That was a thing long ago...when Anka eggs were rune items.

That makes me sad, I love the stars on it.

Makes me sad to think of all the early and rare stuff I had on Ernya.
and my friend had left a few weeks before Ernya closed and gave me a mess of stuff. I used to keep up with what was rare and what was for sale, etc etc., after Ernya, I don't stress about getting rare stuff. My inventory on Ernya was Amazing!

Moon I feel you! My stuff was amazing as well!!! I really miss it sometimes but new start new luck ;)
