This crazy guy just walked up, asked about the Congresswoman, and was sent to the back of the line. Next thing everyone knew was that there were shots being fired, people were injured and/or dying/dead. It was chaos. I don't remember all the details, but Giffords is making excellent progress in her recovery since she woke up and now she's here in Houston at the TIRR institute to continue the recovery. Considering it's been less than a month she got shot, it's actually kinda incredible.

Logan 01-26-2011 03:02 PM

Hope that dumbass get death penalty for that. D:<

Shenandoah 01-26-2011 03:05 PM

He's insane, Logan. You look at a picture of him and he looks freakin' nuts. He'll probably be put on death row, but at the same time, I can't be 100% sure. It's a high profile case and just about everyone heard about it, so finding people that are impartial will be very difficult.

It's sad, but it's true. At least Gifford's husband has no ill feelings towards the man's parents. Apparently the shooter's father had a round with him before the shooter went to the Safeway and shot it up. He chased him to bring him back to their house, but the guy got away.

Logan 01-26-2011 03:14 PM

Geez. What make him to shoot at innocent people? D:

Echo-chan713 01-26-2011 03:20 PM

The only ones I know and common is saying 'eh' at the end of each quote/sentence.

Canadians have an obsession over pancakes and their mayple syrup.

and my fav is when South Park portrayed Canadians as the people that have block figures the beady little eyes and the flapping heads.

Shenandoah 01-26-2011 07:10 PM

@Logan: I have no clue. They talked about it, but he was just one of those freak mutant people in the head.

Lauv Keiko 01-26-2011 08:38 PM

Uhm...everybody is a cowboy, texans only eat steak (no other meat) or uhm...everyone knows how to yodel. XD

Taradiddle 01-26-2011 08:55 PM

Back to the Canada business... The stereotypes I've always heard was that Canadians say "eh" a lot, love maple syrup, and are either really nice or pretend to be really nice as a way of mocking Americans.

My brother and I use to joke about "Canadians from Canadia", but I had to let the joke drop because I want to visit Canada same day and I'd hate to look like a stupid American if I slipped up.

Also, have any of you guys listened to the song "Canada, Please?".

Vox 01-27-2011 02:14 AM

I adore Canada Please, esp. when it's set to Hetalia art.
Shen's thread "Dreaming of the Future" was just above this one, and my eye mixed it up to read "Canadians of the Future." lulz.

Taradiddle 01-27-2011 03:35 AM

O_O I didn't know Canadians could travel through time!!!!

Next step...

Space Canadians.... (???)

Vox 01-27-2011 06:01 AM

Yes, Space Canadians! Their ship is a giant hockey puck that makes an "ehhhhh" sound when it flies quickly, and slows down with an "ooot oot oot" sound.
lol, reminds me of Mel Brooks' Space Jews from History of the World Part 1, riding in a giant Star of David.

Taradiddle 01-27-2011 01:10 PM

I would laugh my effing ass off if I looked up to the sky and saw a giant hockey puck going "Eeeeeeeeh" as it flew by. Best alien invasion. Ever.

That movie is hilarious, I wonder why there weren't any more parts. Or maybe there are and I'm just mistaken. >_>

I do own a pair of cowboy boots, though I'm no cowboy. And there are way too many 'gangsta' types to have everyone exclusively be a cowboy. *grins*

Don't I wish I was rich enough to eat steak every day! But no, many times I wind up eating either chicken or fish or even just vegetables. Catfish, however, is a very popular fish here.

Yodel? I can definitely tell you you're in the wrong neck of the woods if you're talking about yodeling. It'd be more likely that everyone said 'Howdy'. I know most everyone says y'all. Too convenient of a contraction to pass up.

Echo-chan713 01-28-2011 10:04 AM

I'm not a steak person, if I eat steak everyday, I'd get sick XP

Shenandoah 01-28-2011 11:22 AM

Yeah. Me, too, Echo. But it'd be nice to be rich enough to be able to eat steak every day.

Oh stereotypes! These can actually be very funny, especially as most people know that they're meant as a joke.

Scottish Stereotypes~

-Every single Scottish person is an alcoholic.
-Every Scottish person has a pet haggis.
-All Scottish people have ginger hair.
-A Scottish person would rather kill you than buy you a drink.
-Scottish people wear tartan twenty four seven.
-Bagpipes are the only instrument that you are allowed to play in Scotland.
-Every Scottish person with glasses is a reject sibling of The Proclaimers.
-Summer is a Scottish person's favourite day of the year.
-Everyone in Scotland is a direct descendent of William Wallace.
-If a Scottish person sees someone who isn't Scottish in the street, they will kill them with their bare hands.
-Scottish people don't tip after going to a restaurant.
-Scotland only has a population of seven hundred.
-If a Scottish person dares go out in the sun, they will receive third degree burns.

Now, I could go on for ages and list a lot more. But, that would prove I have no life. xD
