im always mistaken for an aboriginal >< man im so tanned :P

Espy 03-22-2011 10:42 PM

Espy gets mistaken being Filipino and Japanese or Chinese mixed with something else...Maybe it's because I have lots of Filipino friends and I hang out with them a lot, and I'm short, and have tanned skin (even though my natural skin tone is pale even for a Chinese person....).

And then some high school freshmen thought I was Japanese because of my haircut. What kind of reason is that? >.>

And then Chinese/Taiwanese people think I'm Han mixed with aboriginal or Hakka XD

I never get offended though :P

For Me I was a C+ average High School Student but I could draw but someone told me I was part Chinese because of my eyes (and after High School), not my drawing abilities, and if they did think I was part Chinese because of my drawing skills there are SO way off because it would of been the Japanese that can [stereotypically] draw.

My ex is half Korean half Chinese so people mistaken him for other Asian nations or they would say that he's pure Korean, but his features are more Chinese.

Panda 03-23-2011 10:38 AM

Cambodian, Laos, and Thai can draw too. That is like what we are really good at and we draw realistic stuff and 3D sculptures. They are so wrong lol. I told you they need to be educated.

People seem to think I am all white, or part hispanic, or nay number of different things, because I am ale, but my skin has an olive tint to it.

People almost never think I'm Greek, even though I'm half (my mom's mutt side just sorta dominated my looks, I'm like a palette swap of her basically, with an altered nose and tush *nods*) On her side I am Irish, Scottish, Welsh, German(Pennsylvania Dutch?), a bit Polish, and who knows what else... there's like a whole freaking continent in there D8

Rem 03-25-2011 12:32 PM

Nothing, unless being mistaken for someone much younger counts? :'D But I'm white (I mean paaaaale ghostly white) with brown hair and green eyes, I just look plain and typical American mutt.

My mom got mistaken for Hispanic all the time though (she was Native American.) It's funny this thread made me remember...I used to be really upset that I didn't look like her, when I was little I used to put my arm next to hers and and be like 'when am I gonna be tan like you, mama?' When she finally told me my skin wasn't going to magically turn darker when I got older, I think I cried. xD

Booga 03-31-2011 02:30 PM

Once when I was 10 I was mistaken for a little boy but that was because I was wearing some pretty baggy clothes with a messy hairstyle lol. Anyway ethnicity wise people would mistaken me for a native american female.

Absinthe 03-31-2011 10:29 PM

Just...white...? lol

In high school some guys on my school bus seemed to be convinced I was Russian, which I'm not. So I guess that's the closest to me being "mistaken" for something.

I'm mostly german, but I have gotten Holland once. THAT was an odd time,

Haha you didn't even get Sweden?
I'm Dutch myself, but they barely think I'm from Holland, I usually get Sweden thrown at me cause of my tall-white-blue-blonde combination.
However this changed ever since I dyed my hair to darkblonde/brown (half a year ago).

I think other people think I'm from Sweden because I'm so pale. It's almost getting rare, the whole 'tan' trend is getting big here too :/ I see it growing around me..

Since I'm not even blonde, I don't even get to be mistaken for someone of Scandinavian descent or German or anything like that.

Brown hair, pale skin = no national stereotype.

It's kind of un-fun. ]:

Gozed 04-01-2011 10:20 AM

Agreed Johnny.
Only thing anyone ever mistakes me for is being either older or younger than what I really am, and thinking I'm my nephew's dad.

Taki 04-01-2011 10:44 AM

I'm very white, and I'm American so I don't really get mistaken for anything. XD I don't have any obvious trace of any other ethnicity in me. My family has been in America for several generations, too.

Taradiddle 04-01-2011 10:59 PM

Someone said I look kinda Russian once, which is... not even close.

Hertiage: Czech, German, Scottish, and whatever Scotts-Irish is supposed to be.

Water 04-02-2011 11:13 AM

I'm often mistaken for Mexican, or Australian Aboriginal, I dunno, I can see it with the Aboriginal thing, but not the Mexican.
I'm 1/2 Papua New Guniean and 1/2 white Australian, btw.

krankhaus 04-03-2011 08:49 PM

Someone asked me if my father was black once 'cause I tan so well.

But other than that, no one's mistaken me for anything but white. I'm 1/4th German and 3/4ths Italian.

Nanka 04-04-2011 09:44 PM

I'm mostly mistaken for being female if that counts for anything. xD And sometimes people think I'm Cuban, even though I don't look Hispanic at all.
