Well, they have called me every time, so I'm really hoping I get this call or email or whatever saying they want me. My nervousness is killing me right now. XD

Batty 05-20-2011 03:51 PM

Yes! That's what I want to do with my life. I've been told that I have a knack and a good foundation for this future job of mine. And in preparation for it I've been a volunteer at my school LGBT Center for the past year and half. I've also been active in the student run GSA, I'll be on the Executive Board next year like I was this year.

And I'm already making connections with the people that are in charge of the program that I want to go into for Grad School.

Desmond and Nanka, I hope you get that job, each of you! I know everyone can need help but that group tends to be the group that needs help the most and overlooked the most too :x

Desmond 05-20-2011 08:15 PM

They really are. There are programs to keep racial minorities in college, which awesome and I'm not saying that they shouldn't be there, but, there really isn't anything in place to keep LGBT students in school; even though they are so high risk and drop out so often.

Nanka 05-21-2011 02:37 PM

@Batty: Thank you! c:
@Sarah: Do what you feel is good for you!
@Desmond: Seems we're both on the same path to help the same people! I hope to meet you one day so we can do it together.
@Serra Britt: Thank you very much. This is what I want so bad!

Desmond 05-21-2011 03:44 PM

Nanka, that would be awesome! I feel privileged to have True Colors and Robin in my backyard basically. They help so many queer youth...and when I'm at the high enough level I might be able to get an internship there, something that I've wanted to do for years.

Aiko 05-21-2011 05:00 PM

well since I still need four years of school, I am just going to tell you, my current dream job is to be an art teacher (I don't know which age group yet though)
So yeah..

Nanka 05-23-2011 05:32 PM

Regarding Interviews: My first job interview was over the phone while wearing jeans, a dirty shirt, smelling like sweat, and hair looking like it was trying to fly off my head. xD Not that they could see that, except my computer desk had a mirror RIGHT there. Anyway it could've gone better, I was so nervous my answers were super short and I could barely sit in my seat at all let alone hold a phone. The company was desperate for employees though so I got the job. Sort of recently quit that job due to hours not compensating the driving (and I hate being checked on constantly).

By my second interview I had experience in a work place, and took a workshop for this kind of thing. My answers were good, I kept calm and my usual upbeat self. Unfortunately since questions tend to be only somewhat similar my previous answer would basically apply to the next one. It went rather well, minus the fact I forgot my social security card and had to make trips around mom's and dad's houses.

Regarding Dream Job: I am an perfectionist. I love to clean, organize, and serve people. Making a living off my art would be nice, but meh I maybe that's me trying to be someone else. I dont know D8 For now I am aiming to be a teacher. Having to work with this one coworker (that everyone else can't stand and ALWAYS ask me how I do it) tells me that I must have enough patience to be a teacher at least lol

CONGRATS NANKA! :D
I'm so glad to hear that!

>< I dislike interviews. I had to do one with an art director before I graduated. Well it was more like a profortfoilo review, however some times I find it hard to talk to people because I already know what they are going to say, and my face can be very neutral.
