Oh yeah. He definately didn't try and hide what he was doing. I just like how the different ideas were smoothly integrated and easily believable in the story.

So, did you take part in the Suvudu Cage Match for epic fantasy characters? This year's was pretty epic with Perrin vs. Quick Ben from Malazan in the semi-final round. Those tend to be more popularity contests than realistic match-ups, though. Perrin was a pretty poor choice to throw into a tournament full of mages from various books, but he still made it to the semi-finals just based on how many fans WoT has. Quick Ben beat him in the end, though.
Rand won the first year, I believe. |
I saw the one with Rand. What I really want to see is more on this Wheel of Time MMO that I've heard about. I don't know anything about it other than that it is being made.
|
You ever play the old first-person shooter they made for WoT? That game was so bad. Only got through the first level or so before getting fed up.
Would be interesting to see a well-done game based on the books, though. |
I've seen videos for it. God it's aweful. You ever play any kind of multi-user dungeon (MuD)?
|
Um... not to any significant degree. I've messed around with a couple (can't even remember now) but I never really gave them enough time to get anything out of them.
|
There is one for the Wheel of Time called WoTMuD at I think wotmud.com. It was done very well from what I played of it.

Okay, new question.
Will you defend the cover art for the series? |
Never! I hate it. :P It's just so... I won't say bad, just blah.
The ebook covers however, are awesome. |
The fantasy genre seems to have that problem in general. Especially books that come out in the U.S. I try to buy copies off of Amazon.co.uk when I can, just for the usually-better British cover art, but shipping is expensive.
|
What they should do when getting someone to make cover art for them is find someone who is actually a fan of the series. The guy who did the WoT covors can't have read the books.
|
Yeah, that seems to happen a lot. Not to mention, a lot of fantasy covers just look really cheesy and lame, and those covers by Darryl Sweet for the WoT are the cream of that crop. He seems to have thought that Perrin was a dwarf.
My favorite fantasy book cover ever is for the super-duper special $500.00 limited edition of Gardens of the Moon illustrated by Michael Komarck. http://www.fantasy-fan.org/files/Eri...moon_cover.jpg I SO wish I could afford that version. The artwork inside is nothing short of jaw-dropping. Are there crazy-expensive illustrated editions of the WoT like that? |
That is a nice covor. Have you seen the WoT ebook covers?
|
Yeah, I just saw them all a few days ago, actually, on Adam Whitehead's blog where he did a sort of contest/comparison between them all.

I actually like the covers, at least some of them :P There's some really good art for WoT around the internet...I was on deviantart and decided to search for Mat art. (my favorite character.) there were a lot of good ones
