I voted for Gary Johnson.
I knew he had a slim to no chance of winning but I didn't care for either of the "main" candidates. |
So did a friend of Alpha's... It helps them later in time but currently... it makes me hate it because it messes with the ability to get the majority faster. No offense towards people who vote third part but it makes for the places like Florida that have such a slim margin between them.
Also tied at 153.... Va is never going to get their voting done. |
I do not have any confidence in my state ( Ohio ). e___e
I know the people here; if my town is anything to go by, people just want to vote for Obama because they think Romney will rape all the women and ban abortions. +eyeroll+ Or because Obama is black. I don't think most people here have any serious opinion on this. But I have to say.. The guy who went up against Sharrod Brown for governor here ( Josh Mandell ) was embarrassingly bad. Should've seen his ads. It was the most disgusting, childish thing I'd ever seen, and he made himself out to be a martyr in every one. Pretty sure Sharrod Brown didn't even have to lose sleep over it. xD Edit - I don't like how they keep deciding Obama or Romney is winning in certain states when there's only 1-30% of the votes counted. Like Wisconsin. Only 9% and they decided "ohey Obama won" but now Romney's leading there. lol |
Eh it is because of how people trend. For those of us who would go to bed before 2 am to see who is most likely to win. Plan on staying up til the votes are counted
|
It's horribly inaccurate though. I just hate it. Dx
New York is only 3% reporting and yet they're like "ERMEHGERD OBAMA WERNNNN". No. Nope. No. >__> Sorryitjustirksme. NOBODY BELIEVE THE COLORSSS. Dx |
I understand, but that is why most places acknowledge that the results given are likely, not 100%.
|
I'm surprised on how many people are voting for Romney, I seriously thought he had zero chance of a vote from anyone in the middle or lower class. SERIOUSLY. WHILE GOVERNOR HE PUT HIS STATE INTO TURMOIL! He clearly lies, and even doesn't care for the lower class. He doesn't want to tax the rich, and he will tax the middle class...
Any women, or middle class citizen who votes for him confuses me... Theres only one good thing that would come out of his presidency and that's this! http://cdn.uproxx.com/wp-content/upl...tinymitt-7.jpg ALL THE TINY FACE ROMNEY'S WE CAN THINK OF! *Evil laugh* I can be serious and actually give out my opinions, and stop being slightly childish with my reasons, but I just got out of a debate with a few of my friends... It's nice to know the majority of my friends who are supporting Romney does not know a thing of the Obama administration or Romney's to begin with, they were just not happy that Obama seemingly didn't correct the economy in less then 4 years. -.- |
Obeezy in the heezy. |
Well, I can state that most of Obama's policies (if not all, but not going to generalize there) are so money intensive that they add to the budget to push it greater than the 20% gross of our nation that was the proposed cap on spending for the longest time. Only two presidents to my knowledge have done this so far: Carter and Obama.
The majority of what he has implemented hasn't even been hitting the budget yet as well.....so in truth things are actually worse than they appear. And un-employment has not been dropped at all.....it has actually increased. The only problem is that they do their tracking by those who are currently filing for Unemployment.....and this is so because you can't file after around 63 weeks on average. Thus, there are actually more people than are being reported by agencies. And actually, he is taxing everyone equally. Granted, for example, 5% of income to the "rich" is less impactful than for those of the middle and lower classes, but it is still equal across the board. Certain tax cuts are in place to encourage businesses to invest in their people, be able to hire more people (thus creating jobs), and offer better benefits on the whole. Another big part of his platform was reducing the federal deficit by capping spending at the 20% of GDP at most, so that we aren't increasing the deficit, and are able to start paying off the debts that we owe. Why are you surprised at women voting for him? Because he opposes government funded abortions? He opposes that for the same reason that most oppose government healthcare.....because everyone pays for everything....even if they never use it. If you want to opt into it, then go for it, but you will have to pay a slightly higher rate. It's all about choice when it comes down to it. And he stands for what he believes in when it comes to defining when life begins and what marriage is. I might not agree with it, but I can respect the man for standing up for what he believes in. Taxing the middle class? Any president is going to have to since they make up the majority of this nation. Taxes are going to be there regardless, and no matter what they say, no president can ever get rid of them or there would be no money for government to spend on any program(s). Putting his state into turmoil? He actually didn't. It was in turmoil when he was elected in 2002....and with what he did, he dropped unemployment and created a vast number of jobs. His business experience shows that he knows how to create, run, and stick to a budget. This is added upon by his experience and results from his time as governor. |
Ummm warning wall of text from Alpha that he is still editing....
Also Romney is in the lead atm |
On the east coast here. Obama is 172, Romney is 163. |
What are you watching? Yahoo and Fox both have Romney in the lead
Yahoo O: 147 R: 170 Fox O: 163 R: 174 |
Also, my post is finished.
|
I'm watching ABC News. The votes are now Obama - 173, Romney - 174. |
Fox News: Obama - 244 Romney - 203 It's been a while since ABC News has shown their numbers. |
That is the Same as Fox but until Cali does the actual tally nothing is firm.
Cause Romney is winning in Cali atm. |
As a reminder....as of now everything is projected, not set in stone
|
Egh nevermind what I had here before, I don't want to debate ( I find it better if I just keep my opinion to myself a lot ). I'm easily getting stressed enough as it is that they're screeching Obama will win my state, which is jumping the gun. Only 65% reporting, and they're already making decisions. -__-
|
Meizicht: You are absolutely correct in that "taxing the rich" includes small business owners since they are placed in the "rich" category because of their gross income. This doesn't adjust however for their expenses for supplies, payroll, etc.
|
Fox is highly projecting that Obama is going to be reelected. |
Yes, but again, it is projecting. Until the final votes are counted, he is not officially re-elected. And I foresee several states having recalls and investigations going into effect. Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, and Virginia being the main ones.
|
I'm hating that they keep making "solid" decisions when half the votes aren't even counted yet. For example, Wisconsin was declared for Obama, but now Romney is leading by around 3%. That could happen easily in Ohio, since 35% of the votes still need to be counted ( not to mention, people are yelling about problems of illegal voting right now too, so there might even be a recount ), and the difference is around 2%. That's been closing pretty rapidly, and I think maybe half of that 65% is absentee and early voting ( which if you live here, you'd know that was all endorsed by Obama. He actually came here and took bus loads of people to the polling places if they said they'd vote for him. I'm not even kidding, I think that's horrible. )
So really, in my opinion, only 30-something% has been counted, and there's another big hunk that still needs to be counted. Argh, I hate media and their projections. |
So my tv is telling me Obama won again, I am not sure what is really going on but my parents are watching abc news.
|
The projected vote is Obama, but most of the numbers haven't come in yet in the Key states. The places stated above.
|
Quote:
That's what I'm watching, too. They're saying Obama won, but I'm guessing those are just projections like Alpha is saying? I always get confused when I watch this crap. :P |
Poggio: That's a projection. A guess. It's not true yet, and around half the votes haven't been counted yet ( or more ) so don't believe or celebrate yet. Not until tomorrow or later.
Now my local station is 49% vs 49% right now. So Ohio is not won over in any way. Projections are stupid. D< |
Are they counting electoral collage votes or peoples votes?
|
I think they're ASSUMING the electoral college votes based on what has been counted so far.
Basically, jumping the gun. I'd actually turn off the television for this and just follow the numbers online. Trusting my local numbers, Romney has been very rapidly closing the gap. I think he's going to get ahead pretty soon, so he may just win Ohio. Which is a huge deal. Obama supporters are celebrating waaaaayyy too soon. People are explaining this to me in a roundabout way. So I don't know really. |
just go to bed, everything will be decided in the morning :D
|
Lol I don't go to bed until around 8-10am in the morning, so I have to stay up and see this ridiculous crap.
I've never seen them mess around with the decisions like this. My mom keeps saying "something weird's going on". Expect there to be controversy. @__@ |
yeah my facebook feed is full of "yay obama" and stuff like that, which is saying alot too since most people i have on facebook are australian >.>
|
Ugh, see, I hate it when people outside the country, who have never been here, lived here, stayed here for more than a year, try to have a say in our election. Not to be mean, but... they haven't seen what goes on. Sure, the US effects the rest of the world in its own way, but if you don't see it yourself, you don't know. OTL
Either way, both of them were going to screw us over, so I'm scared anyway. |
Vader: Yeah, until all the votes are tallied and issues settled, Obama's re-election is projected.
|
The way the media is portraying this is very strange to me. Idk, this is different from last time.
It really is boiling me right now, it looks like they're basing the whole fucking election on assumptions. My local station is saying it's been decided because "Toledo is dominantly democratic" and they haven't counted that county( which Toledo is in )'s votes yet. Omg. I'm about to give the hell up on this country. I might just job hunt to save money to GET OUT. |
Just like a lot of people say they will pack up and move to Canada if Romney wins. I'm just very happy that same-sex marriage has been legalized in my state, now. |
We'll be happy to take you guys in if you ever wanted to escape.
Also, they're saying Obama has it in the bag. It's mathematically impossible for Mitt to win or something. >>;; (/does a little celebration dance, hides from Meiz) |
I may just be worked up over nothing. I talk like I know what I'm thinking but I probably don't.
Honestly, I was afraid whether it was Obama or Romney. Only thing I can say is that at least I know what to expect from Obama. Just have to suck it up and prepare for the worst. Lol as much as I say "Romney is better", don't get me wrong; I still think he is also disgusting. I just thought he'd do better with the economy, but I'm no expert. ( My choice was Gary Johnson. xD I'm no Romney supporter, lol. No worries, Pathosis- sorry, I mistook you for Poggio, I'm being talked to by people while I'm typing here skdjhfalsj Dx. I dislike Obama and Romney anyway, just figured Romney wouldn't drive us into the ground financially ) Also, I don't want to move out of the country because of who's president; I'm appalled at the way this election is playing out. The process seems based entirely on assumption rather than fact. I think that's why Romney hasn't been giving any speeches yet; either that or he's an ass, which isn't a surprise. Nothing is final, I don't think. And if they make it final, then something is really wrong. A good hunk of people are just regarded as unimportant this way. That's what makes me want to leave. Like saying "oh you're the last part of your state to get votes in, too bad you don't count; we already assumed". Then again, I think too much limelight is on the presidential election; house changes, governors, etc make a bigger difference, I believe. |
[/does little celebration dance with Pathosis] |
I won't say because I'm not going to start a political debate, but I frankly don't like any of the candidates. I think they all suck.
We need someone who will do what they say they will without questionable ethnics. Someone who isn't going to try and force laws based on religion. I'm highly pro-choice. It's my body, I'll do what I want with it. But I think all politicians are dirty pigs. |
Welll, I have to say, I was also scared if Romney got elected, because of several reasons:
I'm an atheist, so I was a little concerned about any imposing religious-based stuff. My health kind of relied on some more recent decisions that Romney seemed to be openly against ( I won't elaborate because it's personal ). I'm involved with women's rights a bit more than I can let on. I'm gay, so there's that also. But I figured those could also be handled state-wise, so with those out of my mind, I was more focused on economy, which I thought Romney would do better with. Obama was cruel with his ads and his lies, which hurt pretty deep. So where Romney might be okay with the economy, I was afraid of him passing anything that could suppress other aspects of life, and where Obama was good with social issues, I was afraid my home might turn into a ghost town. I hope next time, with the victories happening involving Gary Johnson and the third party, maybe this will start coming out more and more. I would have done my celebration dance if, by some craziness, Gary Johnson had won.. I would've cried happy tears. xD |
